Been searching for 3-plus years for a new Springer pup that fit my bill, and finally caught a break.

Meet Jet. I should rename her Trouble.

I’ll have more pics and a vid or two in the next couple days.

For now, I think I’m more worn out than she is. Forgot how much an 8-week-old pup can poop, and how fast.

I’m on puppy duty tonight ...

What, no docked tail?

Ha, my son is going through exactly the same thing. His Springer girl is a regular poop machine, feisty and trying to be the alpha. She is our dog's granddaughter, but Grandma is laid back, and on the shy side, even a bit timid, but a real sweetheart. Just right for us retired folks.

We are going to make a long drive in a couple of weeks to visit son and wife, and the dogs will meet.

Anticipated encounter: "Leave me alone, kid, I'm going to take a nap."

I got my lab pup last spring on a Sunday. He never slept until 7 am Monday morning.....
Puppies are a handful.

Yes sir, and that was part of the search.

I actually own Jet’s great, great aunt, my Scout, who is coming on 14 years old and is the best bird dog I have ever owned. Jet has big shoes to fill.

Scout’s great nephew and Jet’s sire is Solo, the 2020 National Open Champ.

Her dam Ryelie had a littermate that took 3rd in the 2020 Open, and another littermate that went to the 5th series.

So she comes from proven stock, and I am hoping she inherited all the software.

I am excited to train another pup.

Well, this is excellent - and congrats on getting what looks to be a fine dog. In the 60s we were were gifted a male Springer Spaniel - Champion Sergeant MacGregor ("Mac" to us) - and he was simply wonderful. Patient with our little daughters and very protective of them, and the best flushing bird dog ever I could hope for. Great nose and energy. He raised up more quail, pheasant and grouse that we could believe. Now, the hair - something else. Wishing you all of the best with your pal.

Pups are fun and that one does look like trouble. Seems the smarter they are the more trouble they can be. We were "gifted a Bichon Frisee that is six months old and lots of trouble. I think she is a Bitchin Frizzie but what do I know? Definitely a girlie girl and hangs with the wife until she needs to go out then it frequently becomes my job. You'll have lots of years with that one I hope. Be Well, RZ.
