Had to go to the local pharmacy, I don't like the Rite Aid, and it's associated with our brand spanking new hospital. It'll take a few years for the sagebrush to come back in that lot they flattened past the parking area. Them little trees stand a good chance of dying too.

You've seen some pics around my place, you know I'm a good ruralite. Surrounded by junipers and weeds! Only pavement is the street out front that they haven't slurry sealed since we've been here (almost 5 years now), and the cracks get bigger and bigger. They got some of that 'shovel ready' money to pave it few years back, but haven't gotten any money to maintain it.

The "gate to my backyard". That little road is 50 feet or so outside my property line to the west. On the left side of the pic, about midway up, at that yellow grass area, you can just make out our corner fenceposts. I have access to square miles of BLM land. I just need to draw a tag, which is tough to do as we're in a premium unit.



Those mountains in the other pic are the South Warners. Here they are from my yard looking east over one of the neighbor's ranch .



This fellow and his buddy were right outside that gate this morning. I had to run in to get the good camera and keep Breeze from going out and announcing this is his kingdom!



And this is what it looks like, looking back from those mountains (but further North in them) towards our place which is at the base of the far range of hills in the center of the pic. I was probably at about 7500' looking for a grouse.

Not Likely, they have to drive the 20 miles to come to Alturas!

If I had to retire in Cali, like we did, I can't think of many better places to be. Down south of Tahoe, near Bridgeport and Bishop is awfully nice and there's even bigger mountains and more fishin'.

I take some sprigs of that, sagebrush, rabbitbrush, and a few other fragrant weeds and put them in the plastic storage container with my hunting clothes.

Don't know if the critters like it.....................
