He is slowly improving will probably be out of ICU tomorrow. He can talk but it's hard to understand as horse as he is from the ventilator. He asked for my mom this morning, had to tell him she died 7 years ago. Their thinking viral meningitis or West Nile and viral meningitis can be caused by West Nile.
Make his days good ones as best you can for as long as you can man. Hope he gains alot back and gets better. Just roll with it dude. Positive air around him is always a good thing.
First I've heard of your dad's troubles - prayers from here, Roger. Enjoy, and spend all the time with him, that you can - life goes quickly at this point (although it seems to drag, sometimes) Keep the happy times, and memories, in your thoughts. Again, you all are in my prayers.
So glad he is off the ventilator. Since the covid grant, that's been rough for anyone to recover from . I lost mine on one years ago and don't wish that upon anyone. The Lord has been good to give life and I will pray that he continues many more years here and eventually forever with the Lord who spared him. What better reason to celebrate fathers day.
As you well know, I've had the pleasure and honor of meeting both of your folks and taking them for a couple of meals down there. I'm hoping hard your old man has a speedy and trouble free recovery. I also hope that later this year he's well enough to do what you've talked about for years with me; getting out together to do something you said your dad used to loved doing but hadn't for decades-- chasing wild TX quail with a double gun and his eldest son. I know you heard me last night but in case you forgot please pass on my best for me. In old school TX gentlemanly style your pops always was friendly, gracious, thoughtful, kind and engaging-- and even though he was addressing his son's Yankee guest always addressed me as 'sir'. Classy cat, he is. Holler for anything, hermano.

Thanks, brother, He asked about you the other day.
Ha, he called this morning thinking he had a Dr appointment wanted his pants and shirt and stuff, he had to get out of there. his appointment is for this coming Tues. but I doubt he will be released before then. Improving though. Guess the nurse let him talk on her phone just to settle him down.
Rog, if you don’t mind me asking, how did your dad meet your mom all those years ago?
my dad's stepfather owned a cotton gin in Amherst Tx, my mom's family were migrant farmworkers working the cotton fields so that's how they met, they were married in Sudan Tx.

Lol, in those days that would have been bad juju up here. Hell my grandmother was shunned by a bunch of her friends for taking one of the migrant ladies who was deathly I'll into the house to get her better.
She said that was ok because she made a friend for life by doing it.

I hope he's doing better Roger , I surely enjoyed talking with your Dad last time we met and Teri sends hugs and well wishes!!! Prayers for a full recovery too...
My dad is doing much better, out of the ICU and in a nice rehabilitation hospital, my brothers friend runs, small facility really nice. He needs to get his strength back so he can walk on his own. Mentally he's back to normal.

He's doing good, their bitching about him getting up and doing chit on his own now, and he's crouchy again. they said he'll be there ten more days, doubt they can put up with him that long.
Orale pues y fantastico, hermano. When he's back to his ornery self please tell him that I don't believe his old Texas ass can follow through at his advanced age and anytime he's feeling froggy your damned Yankee half-breed amigo from Boston will fly down and whoop his ass at a competition shooting his tuned .38 Super race gun or his .500 S&W. That ought to get him riled up enough to get to the range to teach me a lesson on messin' with a south TX hombre with kin going back to the old 300...
Good to hear - he sounds like a resilient guy. Have you broken the news to him about his dog? I kinda lost track of that. That's gotta be a tough conversation to have.
