Will be worthless without James Ganfolfini.

Yeah, probably the best series HBO or anyone else ever produced.

Still kicking myself for waiting so long to watch Breaking Bad.
I’ll watch it, might be okay
I’ll see it in the theatre but I doubt any of you schit kickers will do same.

Hands down.

Should I have watched the series first?
I never got all the way through Green Acres.......

Not sure.
I haven’t seen the movie.

You got plenty of time to if you think you need to. Supposedly the movie is coming out in the Fall. I'll believe it when I see it in theaters. I'd guess it'll be 2022 before it actually does. The series would probably lend some understanding to the movie.
Good Fellas Ray Liotta?
c'mon man!
I will watch that in the theatre.
Good Fellas Ray Liotta?
c'mon man!
Isn't he ded?
Poor soul
I will definitely watch it. Looks pretty good. Too bad Mike Gandolfini isn't as tall as his dad. It looks odd a young Tony being average height.
I'll skip it, like I have all the other movies that aggrandize the mafia
You've really become a sourpuss.

Agreed.

I binge watched it on Netflix. Almost as good at The Sopranos.
They wanted him for Tony Soprano in the HBO series, but he was busy doing something else, so they asked James Gandolfini. I'm happy Liotta was too busy to do it. He's okay (great in Good Fellas), but James was awesome as Tony.
It was a very good series. I thought Justified was better. I'm not much of a city boy though.
Sopranos was good, but Deadwood is my favorite thing on film.
I will definitely watch it. Looks pretty good. Too bad Mike Gandolfini isn't as tall as his dad. It looks odd a young Tony being average height.
James Gandolfini was only about 6', maybe 6'1" - not like he was a giant.
Ozark and Yellowstone are excellent

Exactly. I think someone is using high post count to offset tiny IQ .LOL
I never got all the way through Green Acres.......
You ARE Green Acres.
Lol.
Oh boy, another crime show.
Will be worthless without James Ganfolfini.
The kid playing Tony as a boy is Gandolfini's son.
Thanks for the heads up, Ethan. I'll keep an eye out.
Running out of stuff to watch.
I'll probably try to stream it, if I can. Usually, if you try to stream one of these popular movies, it's difficult to find a good stream. Otherwise, you have to watch one of the schitty stolen Chinese versions. They are unadulterated garbage. Not going to do that. So may catch it in the theater.

He was a little over two inches taller than his son, but the difference comes across. They can fake it, though, by pairing him with shorter actors and by playing with camera angles.
Doubling Down on Stupid
LOL

We'll still know though wont we?!
Movie ruined.
I love that they try and keep all actors from the gangster genre in anything Sopranos.
Ray Liota obviously but they got the chick from The Departed to play Tony’s young mother.
I’ll bet it’s good.
I loved the Sopranos. Watched it every Sunday night , it was great television
but I hated all the drama with Carmella, the daughter and the son. Trying to make them a normal family with everyday issues wasn't interesting at all to me, there was one exception, the daughter dating a startup gangster who sucked at it and ended up getting whacked was pretty good which is pretty far from that Leave it to Beaver crap they kept pushing.

Where did I say that? In fact, I indicated I was looking forward to it. I merely stated it would have been nice if he appeared a bit taller than average, like his dad. Helps make him appear more imposing.
I'm going to pass on this movie. It will be two hours of tying up loose ends while trying to recapture the essence of the series. Not having key actors will hinder it too.
Remember when the "X-Files" movie came out? Lots of fanfare that didn't work well compared to the series.
Hollywood is struggling to get original ideas, so it rehashes anything with name recognition.

They cannot have ANY key actors. It's about Tony when he was young. All the key actors from the series would be too old.
They could have had the flashback Johnny Soprano actor play Tony's dad, I guess. Same with the flashback Liv Soprano actress. They could also have had the flashback Uncle Junior actor playing that role again. None of those are exactly
key actors from the series, though.

Watched it for a few seasons. Need to figure out where I left off and pick it up.
Is it over?
For those looking forward to it, I wouldn't hold my breath. This thing has been in production for I-don't-know-how-long. Right now, the tag on that Trailer was "Fall 2021". While that's not far away, it would surprise me if it's on time. Plus "Fall" could be anywhere from September to December as a release. Lots of hype on this show. I hope it delivers. The Trailer certainly looks good. When I first saw Gandolfini's son was going to play young Tony, I thought it would be a small part and the focus would be on Bernthal playing Tony's dad, Johnny Boy Soprano and maybe on Junior. Now it looks like the main focus is on Tony and possibly Dickie Moltisante. Gandolfini's son, an unknown, having such a big part, is strange. He looks like he has the chops to do it, going just by this trailer though.

Better Call Saul
Breaking bad
Deadwood

FWIW, IMDB says filming is completed and to be released 1Oct.
I’ll watch. It’s better than the standard mutant transvestite superhero movie that is today’s usual Hollywood offering.

Nope. HBO didn't renew their contract with Netflix. Been a while now since it's been available anywhere other than HBO, unless you want to buy it via iTunes or Amazon.

If that's the case, they must have recontracted for it. There was at least a period of one year when it was not available on Netflix. Glad to hear it. Maybe I'll subscribe to Netflix again just to watch it through again.
The following message was dated March, 2021:
‘The Sopranos’ isn’t a part of Netflix’s impressive collection of titles. However, the streaming service does offer ‘Breaking Bad,’ a similar critically acclaimed series about a terminally-ill chemistry teacher’s rise in the underworld after he starts selling his own meth to ensure his family’s financial future when he’s long gone.
My Netflix doesn't show The Sopranos available either.

You need the special Iron Bender edition of Netflix to get it.
ironbender was referring to Longmire, not Sopranos.
Some series I have enjoyed for anyone who might be interested.
Designated survivor
Justified
Longmier
Homeland

I see.
Because of the Covidmania over the past year Warner Bros. Pictures struck a deal that through 2021 all new theater releases will have a simultaneous 31 day streaming run on HBO Max. A one month $14.99 subscription in October will get the new Clint Eastwood film Cry Macho, The Many Saint of Newark and the new Dune flick. It might even get the new fourth Matrix which releases in December if one plays the dates right....? Not too bad a deal really.

Like the last Wonder Woman movie.
I still bothers me they never showed the last scene I know what happened but did everybody die or just tony and what was the revenge

Just Tony. He and his brother in law had just discussed (a few episodes earlier) what it would be like to be whacked. One of the theories was that everything just goes black.
I liked Paulie and Tony Ralphy was a pos and deserved every minute of his demise and pieced up departure
I'll skip it, like I have all the other movies that aggrandize the mafia

BB is gritty and disturbing. I haven’t finished it.

Haha. Yeah. It is good. I don't know why I put off watching it until this year. I pretty much binge watched it, too.
I thought Sopranos was a great series. I loved the hypocrisy of Tony and Carmella. Such a great show.
Breaking Bad was a magnificent series! I also really like Better Call Saul.
Deadwood, Longmire, Homeland, Shameless, Billions, and of course Yellowstone. All great!
Some of the Soprano episodes had a lot of humor in them like the deer hunting one. I still chuckle at that one.

Ethan, saw a blurb online last night saying October.
Top Gun II is another one that can’t see the light of day due to all the COVIDIOTS.
Thanks, COVIDIOTS.

don't you wish they would have closed that loop in the final days of the series, like that Russian dude shows up Liam Neeson style and takes revenge on Pauly and Christopher?
The Sourlands episode is possibly the best hour of TV ever made.

I kept thinking something along those lines would happen in the episodes after. The ending was not what I expected either.
