I’m guessing Quanah thought he was a sham of a Medicine Man after the fiasco of the 2nd Battle of Adobe Walls.

Wondering when someone would notice that, its a beautiful place.
While training a young technician (who happens to be full-blood Navajo) at work a few years back, I had taken to calling him "Runs With Probe." Being the good natured kid he is, that did not bother him in the least.
I left him alone during a calibration procedure one afternoon, only to discover upon my return that he had made a mistake that damaged the piece of equipment he was attempting to calibrate...burned up a few components. I promptly changed his nickname to "Makes Big Smoke."
Good guy...he takes it all in stride.
I knew a native lady named Brenda Big Left Hand
I knew a part native kid named Mike Hawk when I was in high school. He was a good dude and took the jokes in stride. No idea where he is now.
I was in the Army with a full-blooded Sioux named Jumpingeagle.
Everybody called him bouncing bird. He took it all in stride.
Real character.
Two names stick out to me. First back in the days there was a Sioux named "Afraid of his Horse." Also at the memorial in South Dakota for soldiers who died in wars past there is a guy from one one of the counties with Indian reservation. His name was "Jealous of Him."
