Another mower project

Been sitting for about 8 years.

New plugs, drained gas, took the carb off and sprayed it out with Gumout, new fuel filter.
Had a prob with the mikuni pulse fuel pump. Took it off and beat on it a few times

New filters, changed oil, newer batt from other mower

Looks like hell, needs blades sharpened. Ok to take around the catfish pond and our campsite on the back of the property.

And yes; Caribou Sherbet, we have 2 bush hog decks and use them for heavier applications

For hideous consideration

i have a half dozen similar out back. i grab any i see for free/cheap. latest score was a scotts branded JD from 2002. thing is a beast. it went to camp. sounds like a c130 when running the deck. i like bringing those things back to life. currently trying to figure out a mid-80's craftsman II belt issue. idler is fugged up and eating belts which cost more than the tractor.
If it runs & cuts, it's good enough !
Our farm had an old Snapper 8HP in the barn when we bought it. I brought it back to life for the rocky section of the yard. All fun until the dry rotted tires went flat.

ETA: Mowers like anything else are hard to come by in certain parts. Wife had a friend in NY that stated he couldn't find a used mower for less than $3500. Sounds like money could be made.
Get you a can a slime from Napa !

.

Like when the fuel tank runs out...you refill it.

You can replace tires too.
Got two more headed to Monster Joe’s soon, see what else I can pile on the trailer.

😃

Too far gone

Monster Joe's Truck and Tow.....
Some good looking wires there....probably some good switches too.
That last red one would be hard to beat in an ugly contest.
wish you were closer. i'd take that pile. like jim said, lots of good parts.
I currently have a clothes washer and a window ac unit on the lawn.
If not rusted out, the decks are worth some $$ to the right guy..

Post some pics of dem’ sexy bitches....
Nice units folks. Keep 'em comin'.
I scrapped two Husqvarna 18 hp last month

Took the starter, carbs, linkages, fuel pump and the main heavy battery cables.

Have a 3rd husqvarna I’m going to start working on. Do a carb swap. Fuel was going into the crank case for one thing. Lol 😐
Keep this one running for the FiL and wife. 2008 Cub Cadet. Getting a new drive belt here.

Any of those work on your current runner if the hammer fix doesn't last?
I had a cherry picker once

Never loan stuff like that. Got it back in pieces.

Parts are so cheap, like those pulse fuel pumps, are about $10 online.

There’s identical set up on that scotts mower in one of my pics

But yes, it was the same. Im just saving it for this other project.
so this brings up an interesting topic for you guys who do mower crap. working topside is no problem, but for anything underneath like idlers, etc it is a pain in my ass. i have tried ramps which just get in the way and one of those atv lifts which i don't trust cause it cost about 20 bucks at big lots. anyone ever just sit one on its ass end and work on it? empty fuel tank of course. wondering about the oil pouring into the top end. PITA to dump the oil every time.

That engine lift in my pic above is only used for mowers. Cheap Horror freight unit. Folds up out of the way when not needed.
Its down in the pic with mower wheels on the legs.

If I had to work on them a lot I'd get a table lift. My bud uses his fork lift.

I have had to drain fuel and oil if its going to be a pain sitting on the floor for the job.
My grandad always used a come-along hooked to the back porch roof. Lifted up the front end of his riding mower so he could sharpen blades or whatever.
Your tastes in outdoor patio's and lawnmowers are miles apart, Slum. lol
Have a similar abomination at the up north place - no pics (didn't happen). Just imagine your mower phuqqed Forrest's Snapper and you have it pictured.

Gotta keep it Green around the big house.

You sure you can't save that one with the Korn logo on it? At least that lid? A little epoxy fix that crack right up. Classic graffiti there!

Best and only type lawn mower I ever had.

[Linked Image from pixy.org]

Don't believe in cutting something down merely for aesthetics that can simply and easily be grazed.
But I've never been a urban dweller either.
The guy with 60 head of cattle squeezed in on 52 acres he’s leasing has one of those jacks. Gets to braying in the mornings when we deer hunt the big oaks along the fenceline here at the home place.

Lol, i think he (the cow man) believes I took a shot at him last year when he kicked up a yote putting around on his wheeler. I busted that song dog as she zipped down the saddle I have a stand in. Guess he think he can siphon deer off of our place, he only has about 10 acres that is wooded.
Usually those donkeys are really good watch dogs.
Damn I got that exact same mower. (In the opening pic) Mine still has the skins on it tho. Use the heck out of it for a garden hauler. Have a trailer I pull with it.
I am slumming a 14 foot Shulte, powered by a 165 horse power Puma. For work that is.

Currently we got an old lawn General. Old puts works. Finding belts was a Bitch.
Bought a cub 2182 with a 60” deck a year ago. Liquid cooled 3cyl gas kubota. Had to fix the rotten deck but it goes good now. Lots more fun than the ztr. Lots of torque.
Are those like atvs but for work?

32oz Miller high life stove pipes don’t fit a cup holder anyhow.

Sharpening blades and making sure that little gear box is full of oil.

I don't know if they still make them that way but the old snapper comets - the Forrest Gump mower, used to have 2 brackets on the back, which right or wrong, we always used to tip them up and hold them so you could work on the deck

I just bought a cheap 1300lb electric hoist for $100 and I'm going to mount it in my car port so I can lift mowers, my boat /boat motor and maybe if the need occurs a car motor. A few weeks ago I used a jack on my mower to get under the deck, popped off the clip holding the deck, which in turn messed up the tension holding the belt and that turned into a pain in the ass to fix.
It's not ugly, but we have an old Craftsman mower from the 90s that is still chugging away. Needs the carb worked on though, have to run it with the choke half pulled. Change the oil in it every other year, a fuel filter every five years or so, clean the air filter whenever I think of it it (not often).

Kohler made a good motor back then.
dump some seafoam in it and change the plug. might be all you need.

Do you have to move them every couple of days to avoid those unsightly yellow spots on the lawn?
I expected to see more faces than lawnmowers laugh

Few years ago an aynor, sc (i think)cop dash cam video surfaced showing the arrest of the mayor tooling around town streets at night on his riding mower, drunk, and drinking a beer. He had trouble understanding why there was a problem with that.
Mine has to be two Gravleys 30" deck.
49 and early 50s model.

Need to get one running again, I am getting to old to push a mower.

Hell with a push mower. And add the string trimmers as well.
Ride to cut and ride to spray liquid string trimmer juice.
I' have to take the engine shroud or main shell off my Huskee mower for maintainence.
What are the cons of leaving it off, like Slummy?
