I was just driving home from Hooters. Two things struck me while there. They are having a hard time recruiting talent, and who the hell orders Hooters to go? I mean even with the lower level of talent, it's still Hooters. While I was driving home, the governor was having a COVID press brief. Our governor is a democrat, but I have to applaud him for keeping these briefs absolutely non-political.
He had a doctor come on and give some numbers.
LA is short 6000 nurses.
Tomorrow, hospitalizations will be at an all time high since the pandemic began.
The average age of the person who dies from Covid has dropped from 75 to 65.
Fatalities among people under 40 years of age has gone up nearly 500%
Fully vaccinated people are 25 times less likely to be hospitalized and 25 times less likely to die from COVID.
Vaccinated people are 8 times less likely to contract COVID.
He was still talking when I got home, but I had an order from Natchez Shooters Supply on the porch and wanted to open it, to see what I'd have to return for being defective.
The China flu came through the fishing fleet in Grand isle and Leeville at the end of June, beginning of July. It's gone now and nobody is worried about Covid-19 anymore. Even the 2 dopers with really bad COPD somehow miraculously survived. Just look around and think for a minute....how many people do I personally know that have died because of Covid-19 and not some other underlying health condition.

How do you know his delivery was not political? Because he did not say Republican? LOL Every time a politician speaks it is political. Every time. Whatever he says is modulated to retain power.
Instead of just percentage increases, I'd prefer to see the actual case number increases as well. Going from 1 death to 5 deaths is a 400% increase, but still not a huge number of actual case deaths.
I watched just too see him put his mask mandate in place, and changed the channel.Looks like i will have to put my medical mask exemption card back in my wallet.

I knew when I typed that someone would take issue with it and try not to understand. I figured others would understand in the broader scheme of things. It's okay that you are in the former camp.

Yep. Show me the raw data. Let me make my own judgement. Spent 3 years working for a PhD Statistician. His favorite saying was "Figures don't lie. But, liars figure."
This coming from one of the original "Ivory Towers" of corporate America.

One thing the doctor said that can't really be supported with data is that where mask mandates have been put into place, infection rates have dropped, so the mask mandates are working. To my knowledge there was never just a mask mandate. There were always other measures in place with the mask mandates. Further, I suspect when masks are being worn, people are much more aware of other transmission risks and are mitigating those either wittingly or unwittingly.

These charts are interesting and can help shed some light on some of the questions. I wouldn't draw any conclusions on the latest data just yet, but if the trend continues, in a week or so I think we'll be able to make a fairly definitive statement about the death rate from the Delta variant.

unwittingly? Like unconsciously? How?
Touching your fingers to your face/nose/mouth is a common way for disease to spread. The mask is both a physical barrier and a reminder. While I might normally walk right up to a bud and shake his hand (both behavioral risks,) my mask and his mask might serve as conscious or an unconscious reminder not to do that. When I worked in an office complex where masks were required, they were not required in my own office space. When I reentered my office space and peeled my mask off, that was my reminder to use hand sanitizer.
I'm amazed that anybody can believe anything that a member of the democratic party says. They closed the Canadian border but leave the southern border open and allow unvaccinated illegals to come in then ship them all over the country. Yet they tell me I need to wear a mask . Every time Faucci opens his month lies come out. Along with the CDC and WHO. Yet people still believe all the BS they say.

EVERY vaxed member of my family in LA is sick right now, NONE of the others are. NEW Orleans, old Metairie , Kenner, Luling, Houma, Morgan City, and Baton Rouge.
Its a butt load of them too.
Paul, I have a church function down there later this month and I’m staying at the Navy base. If they close churches again I’m canceling.

Yep get a doctor to spout numbers that support your political mandate..
Paul, the interesting thing is about 1/3 of them had the virus back when, every freeking one of them was previously exposed, you know how gatherings are there. So the ones that were vaxed and previously exposed are sick, and the ones that had it and vaxxed are sick. The unvaccinated are still fine.
(Louisiana gathering, all over each other. Taste my drink..10 folks try it, wiping noses, everybody touching chit)
Amishup here mix with regular english population. No masks except first month 18 months ago, just for respect a few told me. Anyway they had confirmed cases, but all in all they say it is a joke. Funny to look from the outside.

They sewing masks and selling them at the farmers markets?
Remember when every night there was a "grim total" or "grim milestone" with some big digit, and now that's all stopped? Getting sick with a bad Commie Flu skunks, but it's not getting intubated and dying unready any more. I think there's a certain herd immunity now. Untold thousands, perhaps untold millions such as myself, were infected, felt nothing, had an excellent immune response to the virus, whatever the variant, and are absolutely in the clear except the possibility of a few days of Commie Crud from here on out. But it seems to me the mortal threat is near an end. To our bodies. To our liberties? Jury is still out on that one.

And of course Paulcovtard, like a good little Fazi, couldn't wait ta spread the propaganda.
I don't know what you call things like 25, 500, 8, 6000. I call them numbers, you can call them what you wish. There was not one bit of propaganda on my part, The editorial or opinion I offered was that the dipschidt govertnor had been good about not politicizing it. If you compared his remarks to the remarks Pelosi, Biden and the like, you'd agree.
Do you have a source for a substantive refutation of the information the doctor presented or is all you have propaganda of your own doing?
Kinda disagree Paul, my state is pretty poor and obesity isn't a problem..... I will say any state with an entitlement problem also has an obesity problem...
The entire country, relatively speaking, has a huge obesity problem. Nobody can deny that.
As for the LA numbers, I wouldn’t put a lot of stock into them, very challenging to get unfiltered/accurate data. All that matters is the death rate and it’s still pretty darn low.

Cool Paul , can't disagree... just trying to point to possible causation
I think the important thing is to not buy into the narrative created by the government for political purposes. Yes the flu... um I mean covid makes people sick but put it in the proper perspective and don't be a tool for the tyrannical government... this schit ain't that hard
I wonder if there is any correlation between that and most southern states being 40% black?
Actually, it's about technology...air conditioning to be exact. Almost nobody was "obese" in the South 50 years ago. Somebody who has never lived where it is 90° + and 90% humidity for nine months of the year can't relate.

My 83 year old uncle in Jackson MS was rushed to the hospital three days ago with Covid. He spent a day in the emergency room because there were no open ICU rooms, he's now in the ICU on a ventilator. Neither he or my 77 year old aunt have been vaccinated. She's got it too but doing OK at home.

Vaccinated people are 8 times less likely to contract COVID.
The vaccine isn’t a vaccine, I could show you 8 articles in the last week that show the vaccine does nothing to help you avoiding contracting the virus. So based on the above I know who’s ever feeding you this crap is also full of crap.

He cant see the lying dimocrap POS POLITICAL Gov is fixing to put them on lockdown again to help the other D governors facilitate Bidens prophecy for a coming Dark Winter after WHO has gone from letting the people develop herd immunity to the BS only herd immunity can be achieved through total vaccination.
Not political?
YGBSM Deep State is politically trying to get people watching the fake Delta Variant BS rather than thr coming audit evidence.
Hes too stupid to realize the pcr test used cant differentiate between the flu and covid and is too stupid to realize detection of differences in viral strains takes difficult and time consuming advanced virus laboratory analysis.
And so, the sheep are led to the slaughter after swallowing their mind numbing dose of MSM BS, or is it from the psychological effects of having had the chemicals enhancing submissive behavior from it?

You read that and got nothing from that. Others (thinkers) may use some of that as pieces of a puzzle or seek out other information to help it paint a more complete picture.

And I see Obama is holding a super spreader event in the middle of this super deadly pandemic with hundreds of people from all over the world this weekend attending with no concerns, no social distancing, no masking while Louisiana will shut down again and institute strict covid mandates.
Also we still have open borders with zero covid concerns, while tens of thousands of unvaccinated illegal aliens, many with the deadly covid, flood our country every day.

The White House chastised every news outlet that ran that story. To include the Washington Post and the New York Times.
They said it was hyperbole.
Yep, and if you are too stupid to see through what the WH is doing then you will always a sheep. It’s just not that hard, unless you are Toot and maybe Paul.

look into people's shopping carts in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama ... and what the typical meal is in the local restaurants
I'm selling my truck for $5,000 less than I paid for it.
Availability for this model is down 600% compared to 2019.
Do you want to buy it?
Clark, that is not enough info. If I were truck shopping, I might get more information to help me make my decision. For example, I'd want to know how much you paid for the truck to help complete the picture. See how that works.
... These charts are interesting and can help shed some light on some of the questions. I wouldn't draw any conclusions on the latest data just yet, but if the trend continues, in a week or so I think we'll be able to make a fairly definitive statement about the death rate from the Delta variant.
This link ^^^^^^ is exactly the type of hog wash I am talking about... The text under the graphic explicitly says that there were ZERO deaths on August 1st. However, the graph of 7 day rolling average for number of deaths shows 14 for August 1st, exactly the same as July 31st. On a 7 day rolling average, when you throw in a zero, I would expect to see a drop for the next iteration. Unless there is some other anomaly in the data that is being covered over.
Again, show me the RAW data, untouched by human hands, and let me make my own judgement. Not picking on Paul. Just pointing out how this data gets manipulated to fit a narrative...

What that charts shows me, and mind you it's still early in this surge, is that while cases are way up, deaths are not up nearly as much as they were in previous spikes. Is that the way you read it?

Yes I see exactly how it works.
Let's hear how many nurses your state is supposed to have and how it was determined there's a deficit of 6,000.
Who’s spinning the narrative? And how does that relate to how it’s all trickled down. It’s all related, and also to your news in LA. Not that hard.
That makes perfect sense. Governor Edwards has regular meetings with Biden's staff so that Edwards can tell his panel of experts what to say at COVID briefs.

So far all you have done is pitched a tantrum and jumped to conclusions over information I presented without any leading comments. You know how every now and then you'll start a thread so that you can enjoy observing the human behavior that follows? Thanks lab rat!

FWIW, I'm at the point where the Cleveland Clinic puts out hard data showing you don't need the vaccine if you've survived the disease, yet the CDC says "screw the data, everyone should get vaccinated."
Anyone believing ANY numbers at this point wants to be lied to.

Two point five months back ALL of Great Britain was gonna die from the DeltaRona.
Five months back ALL of India was gonna die from the DeltaRona
During the peak, India had over 4000 "DeltaRona" deaths per day.
You know this how? I personally know 20+ people that had the China flu in south LA over the last month. None died, isn't that what matters? and some were very unhealthy. Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.
Going into your pro BLM mode like last year? You can't deny that you're more susceptible to govt communist propaganda and brain washing than the average sceptic on here.

I read that from multiple sources. How do you know those 20+ people have COVID if you don't believe anything you hear?

How long did the "peak" last in India?
Run that question through duck duck go, read multiple sources and decide for yourself if they even had a peak by your definition. That way we can skip out over a BS back and forth over what a peak is.

No. They counted 4k a day as delta deaths.
You obviously know more about the inner workings of India than I do. Help me understand why they are reporting less than 500 per day recently.
I'm saying the idea that anyone who died while + died FROM it is seriously flawed.
I get that, and it's a valid concern. That pushes me to look at excess mortality numbers. Those aren't easy to pin down, and they don't tell the whole story, but in the end that's the best measure of the impact of COVID that we have.

Has anyone ever read how they were doing the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing for Covid?
There used to be many articles about this but most have since been deleted by the commie liberals.
I'll enlighten you all...
How they determined a positive reading was two genomic targets "showing up in a PCR test" at anything under 45 cycles. There were 99+% false positives in anything above 36 cycles. The standard for a PCR test is 25-26 cycles & anything above is INVALID.
This means that the SARS-COV1 testing was a TOTAL FRAUD also. There is no actual isolation of SARS-COV1 because the isolation was determined by a PCR test at 45 CYCLES.
The Covid+ numbers are EXTREMELY inflated and the actual number is probably 1/16th or less than what's falsely reported.
But go get your 30th booster shot and keep wearing a face diaper, because it's helping.....nothing.

Your right Paul I miss spoke and used the wrong grammer again. I know 20+ people who had China flu like symptoms in lower LA. About a dozen couldn't even go king fishing when the season opened. Test don't count for shiet as far as I'm concerned. Add a human add a problem.

What kind of real numbers are you showing for excess mortality in the USA in 2020?

Have you checked "excess mortality" numbers yourself?
... What that charts shows me, and mind you it's still early in this surge, is that while cases are way up, deaths are not up nearly as much as they were in previous spikes. Is that the way you read it?
"Based on the data presented", Aug 1st 2021 deaths per positive test do appear to be 75% lower than the Nov 24th 2020 period. However, given that 1/3rd of the data for July 2021 appear to be missing from the graph, I'm back to my original position of "Show me the raw data". No idea what the game might be. However, based on the anomalies, "feels like" someone may be gaming the data.... JMO... YMMV...
What kind of real numbers are you showing for excess mortality in the USA in 2020?
Which numbers convinced you that you need to wear that ridiculous hat when riding your bicycle but not when driving your vehicle on the interstate?
I don't NEED to wear a bike helmet. As with all decisions, I gathered information, evaluated risk and made a cost/benefit risk/gain decision on the bike helmet. It provides minimal protection but it does so at very little financial or comfort cost. While a full faced NASCAR grade helmet would provide a substantial head injury mitigation benefit if I were involved in an auto crash, the inconvenience and discomfort aren't worth it to me.
This thread isn't abut the WH. It's about COVID in LA.
So far all you've posted was the babbling bullschit of an unknown doctor that was brought to a stage by a politician.
So let's hear about COVID in your state.
So far all you have done is pitched a tantrum and jumped to conclusions over information I presented without any leading comments. You know how every now and then you'll start a thread so that you can enjoy observing the human behavior that follows? Thanks lab rat!
We're 1.5 years into this bullchit. Why would any sane person continue to entertain blathering idiots in "reasonable" discussion on corona bs.
Thanks for this morning’s entertainment, some good laughs at the dolts.

Oh, and that virus clearly being used to advance the power of one political party. A political party most people on this site claim to detest and distrust yet believe wholesale what they say about this bullchit.
Every figure it seems is now in % of this or the other. I figure it's for effect mostly.
Delta can only be tested by genome testing. PCR cannot detect a specific variant. From what I have read, they are only genome testing 750 positive covid tests a week, and are "averaging" things out to show how big and bad the Delta variant is.
If what I read is true, there is a whole lot more guessing going on. Sorry, don't remember where I read it, so don't have a link. Just search for covid gemone testing for Delta variant. It wasn't easy to find.
What kind of real numbers are you showing for excess mortality in the USA in 2020?
It's my opinion that U.S. deaths will be much lower over the next 1,2,3 years than average.
It's also my opinion that if one has co-morbids they should probably keep their head low for the foreseeable future.
Otherwise I'ma keep on keeping on like I have for the past 18 months.
Just my .02 worth
I am with you on that. COVID took out a lot of people that were within a year or two of death.
And I think that phenomenon will continue for years to come. So if people are worried, keep the head down. For the vast majority it will be a non event.

That's interesting. It makes sense, as genome testing is never quick or cheap. So, there would have to be extrapolation of data sampling to project overall percentages.
Now, you don't think politics would influence final, published results?
Could this be a ramp up to the 2022 elections? All hyped up, everyone in a panic, masks everywhere, mailing out and harvesting ballots....
Is this but a set up to steal yet another election...?
I'm more concerned about the optics and how it's gonna play out in the midterms than the virus itself.
BTW, I know Paul and think y'all are being too hard on him... He's just reporting what's out there.
DF
They will shamelessly exploit every possible political advantage that COVID will give them.
I knew what I was getting into when I posted the info. I thought it was interesting, I know that stand alone, some of it is of little value, and I knew that dolts like 'flave would rush in to take me to task even though I offered no comments or value judgement on the doctor's comments. I suppose I shouldn't take joy in watching them make asses of themselves imagining I said something that I didn't or believing something that I don't. Sometimes I can't help myself. Lord help me.

You didn't determine that based on data.
You wear that stupid fugkin' thing because everybody else wears them.

I didn't determine it based on data. Bicycle accident data is horrible at best. It was a very simple cost vs benefit equation for me. If you think I make decisions based upon what everyone else is doing, you have been doing an abysmally bad job of paying attention.

Nobody wears a helmet like that to ride a bicycle unless they've been brainwashed.

Or the rest of their "outfits" Guessing they don't wear them anywhere;they ain't pedaling.
They know they're toast without another major something to steal 2022
Why would they need COVID hype to steal another election?
They could steal one without COVID, the virus just gives them cover, makes is easier to "justify" mail out ballots and ballot harvesting.
"Never waste a crisis" is the Dem battle cry... So, ya gotta whip a little crisis into a big crisis, bigger the better. Get folks so scared, they'll comply with your "rules"....
No fear, no population control...
Bottom line, it's about power and control...
To get there, you do what ya gotta do...
Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead, worry about the fallout (laws you broke) later.

I haven't been brainwashed. I have read considerable material on how effective/ineffective they are. Frankly they don't do much good at all in preventing death or TBI. They can protect from less serious injury. They cost 50 bucks, aren't at all uncomfortable and they don't limit movement. They may save me a gash, stitches or lump on the head.
Cost/benefit Toots. It's what I do.
I don't "run" turreted NF FFP scopes. I don't own a Tikka. I don't shoot animals with match bullets. I don't own any Sitka gear. I reload with friggin Lee equipment. I could go on and on. I don't make decisions based on what others are doing or to fit in. If that's not painfully obvious to you, if you ever decide to get a job rather than being a stay-at-home dad, don't look at investigator jobs.

Those bike helmets look like crap. You would be shocked to know what flave actually does for a living.
I have been following Sweden throughout the pandemic, interested in seeing what result they get with their hands off approaches versus the lock down approach. Purely from medical curiosity and not from political interests.
A few things need to be understood before diving into the data. Viruses are opportunistic organisms. They hunt hosts. Early on, hosts are plentiful and the transmission is easy. After you get to a certain point, hosts are harder to find, and the numbers drop. Next, to judge the effectiveness of Sweden, GB, or any other country it will need to be judged AFTER the pandemic ends and all the data is in. Looking at daily or weekly snapshots are not accurate.
Historically, respiratory pandemics run 18 ± months from outbreak to peak transmission to the crash of number of new cases. There are still new cases after that for a time, but the logarithmic growth in new cases is done. Think of it like a pot of boiling water. A few bubbles transform into many until the pot boils over and it simmers down. Maybe another analogy is the atomic fission model with ping pong balls and mouse traps. While not exactly the same, it is a decent representation of how virus number grow, crest, and crash: 1:35 mark. So let's look at Sweden. It is a country of about 10 million people. It has a major population concentration around the capital. For comparison, the State of Georgia has about 10 million people, with a major population concentration around the capital. Let's look at the data now:
Total cases - 1,101,000 Deaths - 14,640 Active cases 10.641
Georgia
Total Cases - 1,185,571 Deaths - 21,698 Active Cases - 74,752
Pretty similar results lockdown/masks vs. no lockdown and very casual mask usage and social distancing. I caution agaist making definitive conclusions because Georgia is not Sweden, but the obvious is the obvious. The virus did what viruses do with or without the harsh measures.
For those interested, Click through the site and look at the graphs between US and Sweden and spread of the disease, how many months until the numbers peaked, and the current number of deaths and new cases. Sweden did experience a double wave before the numbers crashed. The US had the typical rise and fall, however we are seeing a rise in new cases popping back up. The more important graph is daily deaths. So far, daily deaths have not spiked up with the number of new cases. Once again, I caution against drawing conclusions just yet, but so far, the Delta varient has not been responsible to a huge spike in deaths. US C-19 deaths peaked about Jan-Feb 2021 and have crashed. We shall see if the Delta changes that.
Interim Conclusions
Nobody has criticized Sweden for a number of months now. Turns out their strategy got results similar enough to everybody else. Why is that? Once the virus was out of Wuhan, it was going to hunt hosts. Unless you lived on an island that could be locked down, the virus was going to get transmitted no matter what. The original shutdown strategy was to designed as a temporary measure to prevent hospitals and health care from being overwhelmed. Then it was politicized "to slow the spread" ax was ready. In the end, the virus was going to spread no matter what.
The medical community has no way other than an effective vax or complete herd immunity to "stop" the spread. Note: nobody has ever said "stop" the spread, only "slow the spread". Politicians are the ones that are desparate for a solution that does not exist beyond the above. Swedes have more trust in their government because they believe their government wants what is best for all Swedes, and what gets them re-elected. Thus, the Swedish government was able to take this appraoch without an opposition Party blasting them at every turn. Note that the decision makers in Sweden got plenty of criticism during the peak months of transmission, but I'd say looking at things right now, their way was no worse than the lockdown/mask fiasco. statestatestatestatestate

Old cooter tooter old buddy.... give it a rest the "covid" fear mongering ... is so yesterday... lol
Maybe you should move to a more wholesome environment?
You have no idea of the amount of value that I place on your comments and your advice. Please know that.
Well thank you Old Toot. I have never been to the South but it is on my list for fishing and eating.... The stereotypes say the people are overweight, unhealthy and prone to criminal activity... again stereotypes.... Not all places are like that.

Oh.... well this is awkward.... I guess I tend to be more optimistic.... well good luck.... oh and GFY hahahahhahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahah
Frame it any way that makes you comfortable. At least now you’re not such a phony as before.
Don’t forget Ignore unless your needs are too strong.
Perhaps it's more about the great president from Texas in the 60's?

You’ve always been a phony in this regard . You just let it slip out from to time like now.

They wouldn't have A/C if it weren't from the grand man from Texas
Lol, what's the source? Nobody is this gullible, I hope.
The source is Singing River Hospital. They have been running this daily since the Delta spike.
Do they also report various types of chest cold numbers and flu cases? Let me guess....nope. All considered Covid. All BULLCHIT.
If you think any of those numbers are wrong, send them an email and ask them to prove it. Or since you are so sure of yourself, send them an email telling them specifically how they are wrong. You are welcome to show all of the members here how they are wrong. Show, not tell.

Toot, just to clarify, am I supposed to go over to the "pics or it didn't happen" thread to see pics you posted?
I mean, you like to talk so much smack about others and belittle anything they do, I'm 100% certain you've got amazing pics to post.
😂
The smacker talks smack. Help yourself to the pic thread.
You sound like the bitter losers that wouldn't put in the work, complained that tryouts weren't "fair," and never made varsity.....
I can't imagine why.....
😉
You sound like you’re full of yourself.
I sound like someone who doesn't have to look in the mirror and wonder "what if????"
You, on the other hand, well, you're all blow, no show so far, and nobody has reason to believe you're gonna ever back up anything you say, hence the bitter, JV comment.
Sorry if it stings. But the idea of you, with all of the condescending BS and name calling you spew, calling anyone on here who has the gall to back up their talk with pictures "full of yourself" is rather amusing.

True but over 60% for Trump’s election and I believe for his 2nd run also.

This is from their COVID statement.
15%: ICU beds open in the entire state presently, with hospitals along the coast close to zero ICU beds available.

Pictures prove you’re a man. Yep.
Name calling ? Heh! I don’t fire unless having been fired upon.
You’re still full of yourself, puck boy (smack talk).
Bullshit... I was nice to you, yet you were a prick....
😉

Forgive me but you’ve been a phony all along. No need to hide it now. It is what it is and you are what you are.

This from the guy that thinks Flave is a house husband..... he played you, and you fell for it hook line and sinker... I don't think you possess the insight you think you do....
The hospital I used to work at has well over 100 ICU beds. Is 20-something in the ICU with covid supposed to be straining your system down there?
This is from their COVID statement.
15%: ICU beds open in the entire state presently, with hospitals along the coast close to zero ICU beds available.
Context matters. Without knowing what was the pre Covid baseline, it's not enough information to have an opinion about, let alone get all scared like tootsie
Toot seems to be giving the “use the ignore function” advice a lot lately. Hmmm 🤔. Do as I say not as I do?
You, too can do it. Try it.
It was an observation that was spot on. You say use ignore but can’t seem to do it yourself. It’s pretty telling actually.
By all means carry on though. You’re doing really well.
Thanks, I will. I value your comments and advice like I do fubars.
Old Cooter and island unto himself.... winnin.... he will spend all day arguing... with everyone... no wonder he doesn't post pic's... he cant pry his chunt from the puter.... lmao

At one, the largest hospital in the state was full.
Full of people who wanted to quarantine in the hospital.

Even you’re smart enough to read the numbers that have been posted here and the area that those numbers came from and that are continuing to rise according to the local tv news just a short while ago.
Throw in the most recent arrivals of the Federal Disaster Emergency Medical team and maybe even you can get an idea of what the situation is.

I am not scared. I ride a bicycle on the road after all, when just the thought sends 98% of the members here trembling in fear. When you read their entire COVID statement, it does provide context to the number and touches on the gravity of their situation. Coastal MS is a serious hot spot right now.

I’m plenty comfortable and unlike you I don’t need a crowd around me to feel validated.

One of us spent a year and a half dealing with covid patients in the ICU.

Hospitals Plead For Help Not enough workers Now where have I heard this recently? Oh, every business that requires employees.
10,000 recorded deaths Time frame?
Heck of a hoax and quite the agenda some would say.
Most hospitals are trying to turn a profit[or at least not run in the red] like all other businesses. And much like other businesses nowadays you run at the bare minimum and hire only as needed. It's just the nature of the beast these days.

That surely does have something to do with the present situation.
My daughter works at Our Lady of The Lake Hospital that serves as a ‘catch all ‘ facility since shutting down the Earl K. Long Charity Hospital in Baton Rouge. They typically run at a high level of occupancy.
She’s been on a 7 day week schedule, 12 hrs/day for a while now and she’s been working 16 hour days for the past 5 days. She and 2 of her coworkers have told their boss that they’re taking off this coming Friday-Sunday . The three ladies have commandeered my fishing camp.down below Pierre Part for the weekend.
She told me last night that the federal team that was dispatched to there hit the ground running upon their arrival at the hospital.

Rule #1 folks, don't believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see. No matter how many times you tell a lie it's still a lie. Common sense isn't very common anymore.

So, a place with chitty staffing couldn't handle any increases volume????
I don't trust a single thing the govt has to say about the persistent low level bio wpn the bucketheads made in cahoots with Fauci and crew,s help delibrately let loose and spread around the world.
The fughing scamdemic worked to get President Trump out of office and install patsy signature block authority Joey for the Globalist. 40 some odd EO,s in the 1st week IIRC??? I was just driving home from Hooters. Two things struck me while there. They are having a hard time recruiting talent, and who the hell orders Hooters to go? I mean even with the lower level of talent, it's still Hooters. While I was driving home, the governor was having a COVID press brief. Our governor is a democrat, but I have to applaud him for keeping these briefs absolutely non-political. He had a doctor come on and give some numbers. LA is short 6000 nurses.Tomorrow, hospitalizations will be at an all time high since the pandemic began. The average age of the person who dies from Covid has dropped from 75 to 65. Fatalities among people under 40 years of age has gone up nearly 500% Fully vaccinated people are 25 times less likely to be hospitalized and 25 times less likely to die from COVID. Vaccinated people are 8 times less likely to contract COVID. He was still talking when I got home, but I had an order from Natchez Shooters Supply on the porch and wanted to open it, to see what I'd have to return for being defective.
If you think that all of that is factual, there is reason for concern.

Pick a number and show me how it is wrong.
Pick a number ?? Any number. Let's start with some verified credibility of your source, especially in light of the heavy history of specious "numbers" for the past many months. Numbers are easy in the Covid scene - facts, not so much.

If you are going to challenge the veracity of something, you should be able to support it with facts. Otherwise you are employing typical liberal "because I said so" logic.

Good, informative post. The anti-vax hysteria on this forum is, well, hysterical.
Anyone who posts facts, real facts, should have sources and verification. Without them, it's just another baseless post.
I didn't assert anything as fact. I was quite clear that the source of what I posted was what the doctor said on the radio. With that, folks are free to set about on a journey of exploration on the world wide web to seek out what ever they wish to either refute or corroborate it. You will note that some of the additional information posted in this thread tends to corroborate some of it.

I would just like to point out that, right now, the CDC basically lost their minds and threatened the Cleveland clinic after they published peer reviewed data showing that it is better to NOT be vaccinated if you've already survived covid-19.
Despite that data, they still recommend everyone who's eligible be vaccinated, even if they've already survived covid-19.
Now, read it again.
Because we are at the point where you literally have the CDC ignoring data to push their agenda.

I have long since lost any faith in the CDC. Since well before COVID.
This is what's on the Cleveland Clinic's Covid page today:
If I've had COVID-19 should I get vaccinated anyway?
We still recommend that you get the vaccine even if you’ve had COVID-19. However, you may consider waiting 90 days after getting infected as it’s not common to get COVID-19 again within three months of first being infected.

Did you read my link?
The whole thing.
It's what they put out offer being threatened by .gov of they didn't.
There were ZERO cases of reinfection despite the study participants working daily with covid patients, often critically ill covid patients.
So, they decided to recommend vaccination despite data showing zero reinfections, after previously saying don't get vaccinated if you've had covid.
That is some evil shiit right there, and would, in normal times, get the people recommending an unnecessary treatment (one that's only EUA at that) in a lot of trouble.
"We recently shared research that provides insight into how the immune system protects the body after a confirmed COVID-19 infection. The study followed Cleveland Clinic caregivers over five months as the vaccination process was beginning. The data showed that the vaccine was extremely effective in preventing COVID-19 infection. In addition, we found that none of the previously infected employees who remained unvaccinated were re-infected over the duration of the study. "
Since I wouldn't want you to have to actually go to the Cleveland Clinic website.
Edit: notice they don't say zero vaccinated caregivers were infected?
Goalie I commend you on getting the common sense information out there but you are wasting your time. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink. Same goes for Covitards.

Now, let's ask the question: should we trust ANYTHING coming from the government health care machine if they are willing to "bully" one of the world's most prestigious health care providers into "recommending" what their own data days is an unnecessary treatment?
Add in that the treatment in question is new tech, potentially dangerous, in an EUA status in addition to being shown conclusively to be unnecessary.

While he sits at home.
And no govt. overtime.
No praise, no attention.
But on the good side, sure glad his wife let him use his phone again!
I don't trust a single thing the govt has to say about the persistent low level bio wpn the bucketheads made in cahoots with Fauci and crew,s help delibrately let loose and spread around the world.

There was a marked decline in the COVID doomsday kind of reporting immediately following the election.

I get that train of thought, an I have always been a skeptic. I am a skeptic both ways though. When someone posts a thread that says the vaccinated are killing the unvaccinated, I dig in and explore it. I don't think all things science and medical are thoroughly corrupted. With one exception the numbers in the OP seem to be consistent with a variety of sources. My best bicycling bud is an ER doctor and a pretty hardcore conservative. She gives me the inside scoop pretty regularly. The number I hold suspect is the one that shows the unvaccinated are 8 times more likely to get Delta than the vaccinated. I am not seeing that at all. I am seeing about 50/50. What I am seeing is that the vaccinated are faring much better than the unvaccinated when they get Delta.

If you know how this shot worked you would know putting numbers on unvaccinated -vs- vaccinated is bullshit at its finest. They said from the beginning the vaccination has no live or dead virus so the person would HAVE to catch the virus to produce antibodies…same as the unvaxed.
So the goal all along wasn’t to stop the virus or prevent you from getting it, it was for someone to get the shot.

Those are mostly percentages you offered up, not numbers.

That is wacky - there is no "because I said so" "If" is your important term - for no numbers or calculations are challenged up above. The glowing trail of lousy and manipulative Covid data is the issue.
You stated that " He had a doctor come on and give some numbers." Who was that? What are the research/data credentials of "some doctor"? A different poster here might quote "some doctor" - so do we then dive down into that vague data rabbit hole?
If anyone is behaving like a "typical liberal", it would be you - posting totally unsubstantiated numbers and expecting folks to accept them as accurate. 6,000 nurses, eh?
Other Louisiana hospitals seen as ‘overwhelmed’ as the Variant surges.
Then,,,,,LSU not to require vaccinations to register for fall semester. But,,,,,students will have to show vax certificates-or - test negative - and - unvaccinated students will have to be tested monthly.
Gotta remember here that SEC football is just right around the corner.
Now no other Louisiana colleges are requiring vaccinations in order to register.

CCCC, the 6,000 number for nurses shortages in Loiselaine was published in the local newspaper in Baton Rouge and in New Orleans if that matters.
Now, whether that’s accurate or just hyperbole is open to opinions.
If I recall correctly, that same number for the nurses shortage was also stated by the Chief Medical Officer for the state of Louisiana.
Other Louisiana hospitals seen as ‘overwhelmed’ as the Variant surges.

Uhh ohh, speed bump. Governor Edwards now says that it “will be mandated”,,,,immediately after FDA approval.
I went back and looked prior to posting, seemed a bit coincidental that it landed flat on 10K with no ,123 behind? That is why I asked. 39 deaths day over day?

Yeah, that’s what was posted by the local news rag.
So, 39 deaths over the past 24 or so hours to covid,,,,supposedly,

Raeford,,,,hold on to your chair arms, Amigo. Some devastating scchitt has hit the fan in south Louisiana.
The annual Gonzales, Louisiana Jambalaya Festival has now been cancelled for the second year in a row due to covid.
You wanna talk about some pissed off, irate Coonasses ??
However,,, this weekend down at my camp on Lake Verret we’ll be boiling 4 dozen #1 sized blue crabs with taters and corn and another neighbor will be making a big iron cauldron of his famous Pastalaya.
My son said New Orleans is freaking out about the China flu hoax. He went to Walmart on the way to Venice and they made him wear a mask to shop for a fishing trip. They're only about a month behind the times. Just more BS that the liberals are pushing on US.

The Louisiana mask mandate is officially in place.
I doubt that Brandon Bally down at Venice Marina is requiring masks be worn.

So much for covid down Pierre Part way.
Maybe some/oneday I'll make it down!
Luckily we had Floydfest this year. A five day deal, nine stages spread over 100+ acres here in Appalachia just off of the Blue Ridge parkway. 25 miles from my house. Found some new bands to follow around the region such as The Hogslop String Band out of GA among others. 10K+ folk, music played almost 24/7, camping via tent/camper and Yurt. Beer gardens galore etc Had it been scheduled to start later than July 23 I don't believe that it would have happened....again!

I hear ya. The Jambalaya Festival attracted many thousands to the area every year and with cooking competitors coming from Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama . Those folks know a thing or two about cooking also. They typically had a balloon festival attached to it up the road a ways.
LSU football season is gonna be really interesting to watch how the leadership handles that. Right now they’re bogged down to the axles and putting chains on the tires . Should be a real clusterfug.
For my posting, Louisiana itself is not the point, nor is it the possible credibility of "some doctor" - any doctor - who might choose to wax eloquent on a given occasion. If numbers are stated in the "local rag", who goes to the bank on that unimpeachable source?
Somewhere, there may be actual and credible numbers about various aspects of the Covid epoch - but those who spray numbers have played that game in so many ways that we do not know accuracy, and maybe NEVER will.
So, if a location or state is short on nurses - say so and work on a solution - but claim 6,000? That looks like an intended attention grabber. I thought I heard someone say it is 5,432 Lets go with that, eh?
IMO all sports should be canceled. If it's too dangerous for a Outdoor Jambalaya Festival it's much to dangerous for thousands to be in a sports stadium hollering and shouting. The entire state of Louisiana should be locked down like China and other Asian countries do to there people,if the Delta Variant is so Deadly.Only one person should be allowed to leave home for essential items. And allowed to travel no more than 6 miles from home. The National Guard should be called in to enforce. Will this become reality if we keep allowing them to control our daily lives with this covid crap, lots of Americans are reaching a boiling point including me.
It's making the rounds here, big time. But I don't yet personally know anybody in the hospital with it. Will be interesting to see how this variant plays out regarding hospitalization rates per infected individual.

But take a moment to reflect on this thread’s Title.
Toot is furiously trying to keep the covid panic going..... maybe he should cancel his newspaper subscription?
It’s all I’ve got presently.
I used to get all of the “inside, real scoop “ on the covid situation directly from you and your source until I found out you are just full of scchitt and still are.
Go on back to your support group that your dependent bony ass clings to , that pack of nose nuzzling, ass sniffing scchitt eating dogs that you hang out with.

Looking at the local sports page there’s always pictures of high school and college football practices events with comments on who’s who, etc. I’ve yet to see a mask on any players or coaches.
The same for The New Orleans Saints’ practice pics.

Hey, I had to run over to Livonia yesterday for something and I stopped by Glasers on the way back and got 25$ worth of their home grown tomatoes to bring to the camp this weekend to add to our cookoff on Saturday. My tomatoes are about gone for this year.
Doctors fear going to rational care very soon. Healthcare System Strained Past Capacity.
Walk-In, Emergency Medical Centers closings due to lack of personnel to treat overload of cases. Patients were refusing to be turned away.
One helluva “hoax flu” that we’re experiencing ain’t it?
Don't believe the numbers or anything you see or hear on the news. Everyone I know is back fishing, eating Cajun cooking and having a good time. Life's good in lower LA from what I hear.
You need to get a grip dude. Death count is all that matters and the pattern you are showing is meaningless, especially if you contemplate how they count deaths. Take a break from the internet and get some fresh air. Wow.

TOOT - is that the total number of deaths in LA, from all causes, for 2021 to date?
No, CCCC.
Reported as being ‘covid only’ - since the so called beginning of the Covid era early last year.
Supposedly total deaths “caused” by covid.
I didn’t include the total number of cases supposedly recorded .but 470,314 is today’s number.
Who really knows what is and isn’t true about anything related to this and in any given locale ?
Ok so we are back to "their" numbers. Numbers that are likely inflated. In other words a person with 3 comorbidities dies and they test positive for covid are categorized as a covid death. Also the test accuracy of the test is in question.... So we have Old Cooter engaging in fear mongering.

Preparing to do this very thing. Got a bunch coming for a big Coonass cookout tomorrow. Boiling and black potting pastalaya

Can't be.
Old Coot says his daughter is a nurse.
LOL
I live in North Louisiana and most are ignoring the mask mandate and it seems business as usual. My sister is a nurse in South Louisiana and she says some health care places are nearing capacity.
I mage a 100 mile each way trip yesterday and the vast majority weren't wearing masks. I don't wear them
Same in the New Orleans paper as the same liberal democrat owns both papers I’m told. Guy named Georges who made an unsuccessful run for Governor of Louisiana a while back.

Heh! For sure.
I can tell you that Pierre Part, Louisiana doesn’t think much of or about the governor’s mask mandate.
Louisiana COVID update tomorrow. Y’all dumbasses stand by.
Hatari posted this on another thread earlier... hope this doesn't interfere with your fear mongering Toot?

Let me make it easier for all. As of Jan 17. 2021 the US was experiencing 10.3 deaths per million from Covid.
Now, it is 0.83.
Got it? That is a 92% reduction.
I don’t give a fat rats ass how you want to attribute the huge decline in deaths, just be happy it has fallen because that January date is just about the date Covid took my first cousin. So the s hit is real.
That’s also when the vax started rolling out. That is also about the 12 month mark since the pandemic was declared. Historically, that’s about the point these respiratory pandemics peak.
So no matter what caused it to fall, it has. This latest hysteria over a blip in cases will not bring the world back to Jan 2021 death numbers. It is political fear mongering. People will continue to get the virus over the next year or longer, just at an ever decreasing rate with occasional blips of outbreaks. I base this on the study of the last 5 respiratory pandemics dating back to 1889 Russian flu.
There is no herd immunity if the vaccine doesn’t keep you from getting it in the first place. Now the new variant is not covered by the vaccine so you guys are just gonna all die. So sorry lol. Edk
Hey, you boys keep a tight line on things. Gonna go raise two hoop nets for a catfish fry tonight. Also hush puppies and a pot of white navy beans.
Don’t y’all forget to wear your masks, social distance, wash your stinking asses and take your shot!!
De rein and au revoir, mon amis. (Jewish Cajun).
let see some pics of you pulling those 2 fish traps and post them on your oi vey fishing channel lol
What a fake
They are not ‘fish traps ‘, dumbass, they’re Hoop nets, 5’ hoops that taper down with the net being about 10’ long. Typically bait them with cotton seed cakes or the fonky smelling cheese.
He had ~ 200lbs of saleable blue and channel cats in both hoop nets plus ~ 60 sac-a-lait.
Had a bodacious fish fry Friday night. Quite a soirée it was.

Now saying that 75-95% vaccinations rate to achieve Herd Immunity.
Upon expected FDA approval of the vaccines, mandatory vaccinations are expected to elevate considerably for work, entry, etc.

Why won't you get the shot then?
Apparently, my immune system works just fine unlike Eskimos’ systems.
From the numbers of folks intermingling this past weekend who knows what’ll come out of that fine affair ? Friday through yesterday evening was,,,,full.
Again, y’all keep that line tight line on all matters. I gotta head back home, unload, reload and head to the deer camp to mow grass and chase a few pond bass. Probably spend the night then back home to,,,,,,mow more grass.

I just dont understand it.... Someone ask a question about something that hasn't been mentioned. When they are corrected, they act like they know what they are talking about, then ask the same question again. Low IQ, I'm guessing.
Toot mentioned pulling nets with 100's of lbs of fish. Most I ever saw was a net that was full of buffalo. Dad and I couldn't roll the net into the boat. Had to untie the trap and get them out 1 at a time. When it was about 1/2 full, we managed to roll it into the boat. I'm just guessing, but I believe their was 800 - 1000 lbs in the net to begin with.
Saw one of the Whetstone fellows raise 2 nets and had just over 1500 lbs of catfish. They own a fish market and that 1500 lbs was weighed on certified scales.

Paul, next time you see her, tell her about my my nationally known GENIUS allergist MD from India originally who sucks the WHO, CDC, MSM FAUKKI BS line and had the JandJ vax and always wore masks everywhere outside his home and has been in a hospital bed for 5 days now with COVID-19 and ask her why if he dies he wont be listed as A Covid death since he had the vax, please.

Almost a month testing positive with no symptoms at all. Finally tested negative but no changes after that either.
No shot. No plans for one.
They weren't interested in testing me.
My doc has (had) everyone tested that comes into the office. I had to go in for a protocol to get a long expired Celebrex prescription refilled because it had been longer than a year since seeing him.
The test showed + and he tested me over the following several weeks. After going negative his thoughts were for me to hold off but watch for the coming Variant stages.

Lt, a friend fishes the Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers with hoop nets and typically sets as many as 7 nets tied together end to end
He uses “radar “ to find them being a lead filled section of 2” pipe with many u-bolts welded to it. When he snags the net string he loops his pull rope around the cat head of a 5 hp, horizontal shaft motor mounted on his front deck and begins the extraction.

I don’t know how we got from Covid to hoop nets, but commercial fishing is something I know a little about. Back in the early 80’s I worked with a commercial fisherman and some of my own nets. Back then we were selling fish for 50 cents a pound, a 200 hp outboard was probably $4000 and gas was not much more than a dollar a gallon.
Today they are still paying 50 cents a pound, a 200 hp outboard motor is probably around $15,000, and gas is over $3.00 a gallon, not to mention the increased cost of nets and everything else. It takes a lot of nets and hard work to consistently catch 1000 pounds of fish a day. If you do that 300 days a year that is only $150,000 before a lot of expenses. There is just not money left in fishing hoop nets, at least around here. The catfish farms killed the industry. Farm fish are the same size and there is a consistent supply.
I use to commercial fish, on the side. Had a regular job working 7 on/7 off. Fished my off days. Your spot on about the prices and cost of things. Like you, I still have a few hoop nets and still set them, once in a while. I'll run a trot line or 2, also.

Relevance: Some say that a life of hunting and fishing protects one from covid. Grins. You might just be right on this. Through all the China flu BS we still don't know anyone who has died from the China flu. We know a couple of folks that have died with the China flu but pneumonia would have took them out anyway. Everyone should take the China flu BS seriously and stay on the water or in the woods.

If I asked hey Old Toot, how did your opening day of dove season go, would you post 5,687 doves killed, the total count of every dove you've ever killed, or would you post the number you killed yesterday?

There were 10,147 deaths yesterday? 487,491 active cases in LA?
Try to keep up.
I'm attempting to understand the propaganda. You posted This morning Deaths: 10,147
If I asked hey Old Toot, how did your opening day of dove season go, would you post 5,687 doves killed, the total count of every dove you've ever killed, or would you post the number you killed yesterday?
Someone else hold this boy’s hand and nurse him along.
I’ve packed this fugger longer than his momma has.

LSU football i read on WBRZ no restrictions at Tiger Stadium. Not safe for Jambalaya and Jazz Festival, but ok for up to 100,000 people shoulder to shoulder shouting and hollering. That right there shows how fugged up these people are.Time to take Rand Paul's advice.

Yessir, Ole LSU has seen “the light “. There’ll be enough alcohol among the 100,000 fans to run the covid over to Texas.
As you mentioned, canceling the Jambalaya Festival and now the Jazz Festival in New Orleans. Gonna be some lawsuits over canceling the Jazz Festival. The Rolling Stones were set to play there, the Concessions folks ain’t at all happy having booked and already pre-paid for some of their stuff.
And our Governor seems to be MIA on these matters “leaving it all up to those that know the situation best”.
Yep, you are still scared. Lots of sick people, good, it’s called herd immunity! Death rate will not/has not even come close to 1 year ago. But hey, good to consider locking crap down for a virus that’s 99.9% survivable!😉
I heard that Flo-Ri-Dah's numbers had started tapering off as well.
The Liberals have got to get on this and those numbers going back up!
Hopefully so.
To the person, it seems that the most recent surges and overflowing hospitalizations - and deaths - are being listed as the unvaccinated. One thing for sure is that LSU football shall proceed on schedule!! Longtime season ticket holders are ecstatic. So are the Alumni.
Waiting to see what the decisions will be by the NFL. The Saints are getting antsy.
Follow the money and it will lead you.
Who the he'll cares about football? I'd rather spend my fall redneck social distancing, hunting and fishing.

Heh! Truth, TG.
That’s been my plan for many years now. So far none of my hunts have been canceled.

Headed down to the Lake for the weekend. Got another big soirée planned for this Saturday evening.
Party Barges flotilla lined up to make the loop from Lake Verret, up through Pierre Part Bay, through the pontoon bridge via Bayou Gros Bec, to Bay Natchez, down Belle River, stop at The Spunkey Monkey, through the pontoon bridge, onward to Bayou Magazille, then Four Mile Bayou, stop at The Marina and back to the Lake for a bodacious fish fry at my place, again.

I have a radio that was issued by the fire dept., thus I have the ambulance service channels. Listening to them yesterday, I heard that the largest city in our area was on 'full diversion' and the ambulances were taking patients to smaller town hospitals.
In 'life or death' cases, such as an MVA, the city hospitals will take the patients. Having covid is not considered a 'life or death' situation, unless they go into cardiac arrest.

Take your own advice and get back to me.
Yeah, I'm not the fear mongering covtard.......
No, You’re just the direct product of The Government Healthcare System of which you said can’t be believed or trusted and has no credibility.

“Because of the Variant, the biggest vaccination drive in USA history is about to begin with the booster (3rd vaccination) to be given 8 months after the second vaccination.”
Damn hoax. Damn bologna virus.
Edited to add: Some patients needing blood transfusions want it from unvaccinated donors.

Still no countless homeless bodies piled up on the streets, dead from the China flu.
That is exactly right, but does not give the fear queers the sting they want.
It was on the news about a week ago about a hospital 75 miles from here setting up tents and being almost full. They didn't mention anything about the 2 hospitals that closed in surrounding counties in the past 2 years.

Smaller hospitals have a hard time making a go anywhere without state or federal money.
This is why the proliferation of After Hours and Walk In Clinics has taken hold.

They also omit the fact that everybody has been told that if they have COVID they need to get to a hospital ASAP.
That message being on loop 24/7, for 18 months might have an effect.

Down side of the 'peak' A good thing
Supposedly easing off.
It seems that everywhere it hits it falls off nearly as fast as it rose.

I had every symptom-high fever, massive headaches, dry hacking cough.........It took some time[3-4 weeks] but then it just all ended other than some slight lung function and fatigue. Distant memory now.

Did you go the Ivermectin route at all ?
January 2020 Had never heard of Ivermectin[as a human med] or HDCQ or being vitamin D deficient or..........Like others that had this different 'flu' at the time we were trying things like Elderberry
After 2 days the high fever had lessened to a more manageable 101'ish for another week or so and by then the massive headaches were gone
The lack of taste/smell lasted for about a month along with little appetite, I lost close to #20
Dry hacking cough, fatigue and reduced lung function lingered into spring
As I've mentioned earlier-wife did develop pneumonia[twice] but refused to be hospitalized either time

A dry hacking cough is mainly what I had . Fortunately that was about it. Being flu /cold season I didn’t think much about it at the time as being a ‘novel’ virus. I hope every person who has lied to the WORLD about covid hangs high. I’d operate the gallows personally .
Outside nurses being signed on with Critical Care Contracts as Louisiana fights off world’s steepest fourth wave of the virus and its Variant. The fourth surge is driven by Louisiana’s high rate of unvaccinated people.
Are hospitals still receiving extra $$$'s for COVID care/deaths?
I don’t know.
As of now the bigger, stand alone hospitals aren’t taking referrals from the smaller and rural hospitals. Some of the After Hours Clinics and Walk In Clinics are still closed because of being unable to treat the amount of patients wanting to enter for treatment of covid which, of course, locks out others who would normally enter for emergencies and minor emergencies.
Hard to separate the hype but my daughter works at the biggest and they’ve been saturated for a long while mostly because that hospital became the overflow receiver once the Charity Hospital (Earl K. Long) closed in Baton Rouge.
Florida, Arkansas, Oregon, Hawaii, Louisiana and Mississippi all have set pandemic records for covid hospitalizations in recent weeks.

There's more to this than being reported, maybe?
Apparently local spikes are far different from National or international ones. Depends on which one views.

Went to a funeral last night, aunt dies of non-Covid related issues in one of the south Louisiana Covid epicenters.
Must be storing all the Covid deaths for a mass burial, because she was the only funeral scheduled, it is slow week around the funeral home.
Oddly enough the guy that owned the funeral home died last year from Covid. Had some pre-existing issues that at the time were not life threatening, got sick, tested positive, died within a couple of days.
I do not be believe it to be an imaginary illness, nor do I think we are going to die from it. The truth lies in between.
One thing is for damn sure, we do not need to shutdown our economy for it.

This seasoned idiot laughs in your general direction.
One of us has treated dozens of covid patients that eventually died, and one of us is dramatically posting TOTALS like a scared little beotch.

You seem very prone to the fabricated “drama and fear” side of things like most egoist are wont to do.
If you don’t like it, don’t read it. Simple enough for even you.
Now get up off your fat ass and go help those dozens of covid patients that you’re paid to do instead of running your yap on the Internet while getting paid for doing that. So typical of government employees.

Thanks franny. Coming from a passive blue stater like you must have some merit within that meaningful dialogue.

This seasoned idiot laughs in your general direction.
One of us has treated dozens of covid patients that eventually died, and one of us is dramatically posting TOTALS like a scared little beotch.
🤣
I phart in your specific direction.
Lots of anger in there Toots, maybe you should spend less time on the internet? Yikes.
Thanks franny. Coming from a passive blue stater like you must have some merit within that meaningful dialogue.
And that’s meaningful why? What if I live in a red State? My profile is pretty old Toots.
Want me to push that vein back into your forehead? Holy cow are you a baby. LOL

I’m amazed at people and the reasons why they won’t get vaccinated. They probably got it for measles, polio, and all the other diseases that nearly wiped from the face of the earth. My brother in Texas excuse it only took 9 months to develop and doesn’t trust it. Biotech companies have been working on various virus vaccines for 20 years. Great minds and modern technology. And all the crap on the internet about the vaccine magnetizing people. It’s not about being a conservative, a Christian, or building one’s immune system as a personal trainer told me. I had two words for my brother - Good Luck!

Good luck to you, my guess is you'll need it. I know people who have died from the China flu after being fully vaccinated for COVID-19. I don't recall knowing anyone who died or contracted anything after being vaccinated in my youth for what they were vaccinated against.

Another dumb fugk that thinks we can vaccinate a cold.

Great minds and modern technology don't replace time in the vaccine development process. We don't know what the long-term side effects might be of an mRNA vaccine because nobody (or at least not any significant number of people) received an mRNA vaccine before about a year ago. When a new vaccine is developed, the first people in the trials typically receive the vaccine SEVERAL years before FDA approval and the release of the vaccine to the general public. The mechanism of the J&J vaccine has a little more history than the mRNA mechanism, but still not the same level of history as the Novavax vaccine mechanism, which is well understood AND has a LONG history of use in probably hundreds of millions if not billions of people across many years. It has been utterly irresponsible of the federal government not to do everything possible to get the Novavax vaccine through the testing and production process and out for distribution. The availability of the Novavax vaccine would do a tremendous amount to overcome hesitancy about COVID vaccines among millions of people.
Anybody who takes an mRNA vaccine right now is basically in a big trial/study, and people have to be allowed to assess their own risks to determine whether the small likelihood of potential and known risks from a vaccine affecting them in any significant way outweighs the risks of death or serious permanent impairment from COVID-19.
I didn’t realize i was among so many PhD’s in microbiology, computer science, genomics, etc etc etc that were experts.
Oh the other PhD, Pretty huge Dic#s.
a weak uneducated liberal chunt from Connecticut? I see why all masking ( including young children) and vaccines are again mandatory in your state now with zero push back
Inspite of surge Governor Edwards is not currently planning lockdown. School workers to have vaccinations or be tested weekly.
Inside Louisiana hospitals the situation is as dire as ever with people, mostly unvaccinated, dying in droves . People suffering from strokes and heart attacks cannot find open beds.
The US Military is sending in more assistance for beleaguered doctors and nurses.
Ain’t the common cold a real bitch and what a fuggin hoax all of this charade actually is. My my.

prepare for the onslaught
The sooner you realize that we in the USA are nothing more than a source of revenue for the Fed Gov't, the better you will understand the thought processes of those that refuse the jab. It isn't that hard. The "vax" doesn't work as designed, period.

Seeing as how you’re part of this Government Healthcare System that has no credibility, according to you,,,,why don’t you volunteer and bring all of “ your seasoned expertise “ on down to dear Ole Lousyanner ? I doubt you’d have the time to f’k around on your computer like you now do at work, presently.

While this was once true, the Federal Government has printed/borrowed $30T. The taxpayer may well be obsolete.

I'll stick to working from home.
If I go back to a hospital, I'll stick to local, top tier institutions.

I can easily see why someone as fearful of covid as you would work from home.
Now you can go back to f’kn off on the taxpayers $ unseen. Laffin!
"Inspite of surge Governor Edwards is not currently planning lockdown."
Surge? Seems to my feeble mind that 51 is the opposite of a surge when compared to the prior two weeks?
That's why they report it the way tootsie copies and pastes. More super scary that way, and the idiots can't be bothered to do the basic math and see actual day to day trends......

We should go back and find posts from me, while doing aerosolizing procedures on covid patients, and compare them to your posts from the same time frame.
🤣
You calling people fearful is the best. Keep it coming, but the post history doesn't lie......

No but anything and anyone that’s a part of The Government Healthcare System does lie.

And plays on their computer during work hours,,,or did you “ take vacation “ today? Yeah, that’s it. You’re on paid vacation.
I flew United this morning and I was amazed how polite their employees have become.
I think all those ass whoopings they got over masks finally sank in.
LOL
I flew Alaska Air last fall and another airline, maybe United, this spring. Both times masks were absolutely required. The flight crews were very courteous but firm. Are they still enforcing this?

Short answer is yes. Very much so. Your experience will greatly depend on the flight attendants. Some of them are extremely pro mask while others tend to look the other way until it becomes a problem.

I had one at the Ft. Lauderdale airport but that was it.
Flight attendants and the people scanning your boarding pass never said schit.
And they were allowing all forms of masks as opposed to a couple months back. They were handing out those blue surgical masks and mandating you wear it.

Agreed but it seems like the number of mask nazis has fallen off dramatically. I wouldn’t be surprised if certain airlines have been telling them to back off of it.
The vast majority of those onboard fights were caused by mask tards.

Weekly covid deathmark topped at 89 deaths for the week in the greater Baton Rouge area.
Doctors say livestock dewormer is not a cure for the virus and over dosages can cause neurological problems, seizures or deaths. Ivermectin has shown to inhibit coronavirus in labs but NOT the C-19 version presently infecting humans.
Early treatment with monoclonal antibodies shown to be successful if done in the early stages. Over 7000 infusions have been given in Louisiana this past week.
Doctors say that “we used to have people in the ICU for up to 40 days with the first strain and now very few make it past 20 days with the Delta Variant.
Pfizer vaccine to get full FDA approval next week .
These hoaxes are something, ain’t they ? Ain’t this lil Ole common cold bug a bitch?

Had a misfire yesterday so off to the Fish Camp today. In the meantime, y’all play nice with each other like good Conservatives.

The doctors and politicians and MSM that all were pushing kids to get vaccinated just had the meetings they had put off for months on heart inflammation data they've had for a long time.
Guess what? No Moderna for kids. Even under EUA
Now, considering how hard they tried to suppress adverse events in young people, and considering that despite that effort they couldn't and finally had to acknowledge the data and respond, well, you seem to really buy their bullchit by the barrel.......

Greater Baton Rouge area.....what’s that about 1 million people? 89 people actually died FROM Covid as opposed to WITH Covid (I have my doubts) I’d guess more people died from car accidents last week. Let’s not even get into the number dead from heart disease
Double mask and rubber gloves Toot. Wouldn’t want you to catch Covid from a fish
A friend who just flew last week told me someone got arrested for not wearing a mask. The cops came and got them off the plane as soon as they landed. This is the stuff Old Toot advocates for. Old dumb granny Toots

It gets the title because of LSU but I guarantee one thing, its the only “greater area” in the United States where you can bail off I-10 onto 110 and at the end where it meets 61 you’ll have Negros holding poster-boards selling raccoon meat in 2021.

Headlines: Spreading like wildfire. Rural Louisiana confronting Delta surge. Louisiana vaccinations rates below 40% compared to the Nation as a whole at 52% fully vaccinated.
My buddy is fully vaxxed, has been having breathing issues ever since. Finally went to doc, they think he had a mild heart attack, more tests this week. 42 years old. Hey, but he is fully vaxxed and can still get covid...so thats a good thing right?

Might want to ask his doctor about this. You won’t find much good advice here. Jus sayin.
Sorry to hear about your Amigo and hope he fully recovers.
You're right to a point, but don't just dismiss these deaths as non-events. Covid killed, yes killed as in "filled up the lungs", of my step mother, my aunt, my first cousin, and at least three friends that all had other issues. It might be true that had they all been 30 and healthy, they would have survived, but they weren't and they are now dead. I know one thing for sure that had this stuff never escaped from Wuhan, China, all of them would be alive today. None of them were at death's door before the virus. What do you tell your mom? "Hey, you're over 80 and have controlled diabetes so it sux to be you?"

11 days since I tested positive. Going retest this afternoon and fully expect to test negative and go back to work tomorrow. I am 56 years old and healthy. I had periods of low grade fever and 3 -4 days of bad headaches. I lost most of sense of smell and taste. Had a lot of sinus congestion and flow at times. I didn't have it in my chest must I see where that could be serious.
I fully believe this virus was man made and released by man. I believe people are dying from it and lots have died from it. I don't believe the numbers that have "supposedly " died from it. I don't believe shutting the country down was the right direction and I believe it should be individual choice to vax or not.

Hmm, I’ve had a headache for two days, light congestion and a little tired. I never get sick.

Jeeper, in the main I’d posit that most everyone here at The Campfire agrees with all that you’ve said but mandates for the vax are here and growing. The exemptions are less and less meaning a person will have to be regularly tested or quarantined before being allowed to go to work, jumping through hoops type stuff.
As you well pointed out,,,it ‘should’ be ‘ individual choice and it actually is when you come right down to it.

You tell her to stay away from peoples and take precautions. Basically to self quarantine, anyone with 'other' issues. Which is what should have happened from the get go.

I know one thing for sure that had this stuff never escaped from Wuhan, China, all of them would be alive today. None of them were at death's door before the virus. What do you tell you're mom? "Hey, you're over 80 and have controlled diabetes so it sux to be you?"
You tell her to stay away from peoples and take precautions. Basically to self quarantine, anyone with 'other' issues. Which is what should have happened from the get go.
Might be hard to do for elderly in nursing homes, assisted living or retirement communities .
You're right to a point, but don't just dismiss these deaths as non-events. Damn, Hat. Very sorry to hear this, Man.
Thanks. It sux. OTOH, my immediate family skated through with no complications so far. My two life long best friends and their wives went to Vegas for a week (dumbasses) and all came home with it. One spent 7 days in the hospital and without treatment may have had a "bad" outcome. He's ok now. Rest of that crew did ok on the hydroxy. This is the oddity of this virus. Many have very mild symptoms, but if it gets you good, you have a problem.

Other than in Cuomo Land and a few other places most 'facilities' got a fairly good grip on things quickly and kept the Rona out. Again: quarantine those that NEED to be, not the whole damned country!
A 38 yoa that works at a local prison with my nephew died 4 days ago. He was hospitalized with Covid and pneumonia. I don’t know anything else except he left a wife a 2 little girls. I’m sure complications from pneumonia is what caused his death, but 30 somethings don’t typically pass from pneumonia alone.
My co worker just told me her ex who is 34 yoa, passed away yesterday in a hospital in south La. he was initially hospitalized with a dx of Covid. Sorry I don’t have any other information to speculate about.
I live in a pretty small world, but how many of you all know someone personally that knows someone in their 30’s who passed in the last few days?

The article in today’s paper had much to say about Central Louisiana. Front page and page 6A.

It has here in Virginia and 'most' other states as far as nursing/retirement facilities are concerned.
You reckon vaccinations of personnel had anything to do with that?
How, exactly, does one quarantine a person who needs daily care and assistance ? (Rhetorical question, Raeford).
For a year No ONE other than employees were allowed in in Virginia. This was pre-vaccine time[2020]
Employees were tested on a regular basis and wore masking that is actually effective.
The state had an issue in Richmond early in 2020 with nursing facilities but got a grip on it quickly and has had very, very few issues since.
Hence my stance since last summer: quarantine those that need quarantined.
If only all states had done that, Raeford.
You can trace the Louisiana toll by looking at the progression north and west from New Orleans after their Mardi Gras.
Immediately following that Mardi Gras The Louisiana War Veterans Home in LaPlace, Louisiana (just outside of New Orleans) lost 17 good men residents in rapid fire succession to covid in the first wave,
So much of that could have been prevented had folks listened to President Trump.
I fully believe this virus was man made and released by man. I believe people are dying from it and lots have died from it. I don't believe the numbers that have "supposedly " died from it. I don't believe shutting the country down was the right direction and I believe it should be individual choice to vax or not.
Prayers sent for a good outcome for you. Your last paragraph mirrors my own thoughts.

If her Diabetes is "controlled" then it should not be an issue as long as her COVID meds don't interfere with whatever she takes to control her Diabetes. Assuming all else is well, then she is "only" left with age being her primary obstacle to a full recovery, should she get the disease.
Old folks routinely die of illnesses which are nothing to younger people. Colds...the flu...easily turn into Pneumonia in the elderly, vaunted "comorbidities" aside. If you look at a group of people...let's say famous people like actors. People who probably have access to very good, if not the best, healthcare and the ability to pay for it, you'd be surprised at the number of old ones whose cod was Pneumonia.
I'm curious how many had cold symptoms, think they had covid, but never got tested? From reading most of this thread, many say they were mildly sick, and recovered. Were those tested, or just assuming they had covid, and had a cold or simple flu! Asking because I think the wife and I had it in December of 2019. We have never been tested.

I think the loss of taste and smell was the "proof" enough for me to get tested. I got the "long" test and 2 days later received an email with the positive result. I've never loss that much sense of smell and taste. Made myself eat when I didn't want to. Lots of fresh yard eggs and meat.

So Old Toot, did you get the "jab" yet?
Not yet, bro. Went through it for a month or so and with no symptoms at all and my doc said to hold off on the vaccinations and that his nurse would get back to me if he felt that anything had changed. They’ve been good over the years with reminders and suggestions.
His ‘prescription ‘ was to keep on keeping on and steady as she goes until further notice.
He did say that worse stuff coming down the line was expected by the medical community at large.

Yes, but they had way over twice as many deaths per 100,000 than Norway ,Finland or Denmark. Who locked down more less . I,d much rather live in Norway , Finland Or Denmark.

Sweden has been a death trap.
Well, aren't we selective. Did you compare the "deathtrap" that is Sweden to the Netherlands or Belgium, or how about Japan where they can lock down the whole island chain? How about Romania or Canada? Of course not because you want troll, but I'll help you out.
"Deathtrap" Sweden 1.1million cases 14,500 deaths
Belgium 1.1 million cases 25,000 deaths (How's that for a "deathtrap"?/)
Netherlands 1.9 Million cases, 18,000 deaths
Japan 1.3 million cases 15,631 deaths
Canada 1.4 million cases 27,000 deaths
Romania 1 million cases 34,000 deaths
So, you want to talk about "deathtrap"?? How about you talk about the fact that Norway, Finland and Denmark do not report covid cases and covid mortality in the same manner as these other countries? Go ahead, go look into and get back to me. Interesting that those countries you cherry picked are the outliers. Nowhere else that has a sizable population can claim those numbers. Of course not, when they use different criteria for their reporting.

I know about a couple dozen people who got it, 65 to 1 year old. Some close family. None of then were hospitalized. A couple of the older ones said it was pretty rough.
People who are highly vulnerable should be advised to take special precautions to avoid exposure.
Death rates are completely meaningless without breaking people into age and comorbidity cohorts. That is the only meaningful way to make rational choices.

Yes, and that assumes straight stats to begin with, which we don't have here. We have absolutely no idea what infection rates are, let alone death rates, because the most common test is not reliable in the least. 60% or so accuracy, is a bit better than a coin flip. A bit. Then you have the fact that it doesn't distinguish between COVID and the flu. Further, you have all these doctors and other healthcare professionals talking about the Delta variant, which they have absolutely no way to identify from the regular variant, which usually hasn't been identified itself!
Stats in the wrong hands are dangerous and this whole goatf u ck rodeo of the last two years, proves it.

My father is getting over the Rona at the moment. Was battling a sinus problem for probably 2 weeks and when it took a turn for the worse he went to the doc. Was pneumonia on one side and they thought it might be Covid, but the test (not the rapid test) was negative. He went home and symptoms continued to develop, so they had him come back. Test #2 was positive. Got the antibody infusion the next day. Now he's weak as hell and coughing like crazy, but slowly improving. He had to be positive that first go around, but the test certainly missed it.

Sounds like what my wife had around the 4th of July. Tested twice, both negative. Pumped her full of antibiotics but it still took a month to get over. I had whatever it was also, just not as bad. It was the most unnatural feeling chest congestion I've ever experienced.
Guy I work with got the Rona in June, they tested him 4 times - 2 positives, 2 negatives. So much for The Science is Settled.
Yeah, I know that, but they do that for a sinus infection - with a negative rona test. That's why they call it "practicing medicine", 'cause they don't have it down yet...

State and Federal Mandates likely after Pfizer approval. Exempted persons will require regular testing.
Pentagon will mandate Covid-19 vaccinations
Louisiana Hospitals contracting 96 Respiratory therapist, Nurses and CNA’s to further help alleviate ‘Capacity Level Red’. This in addition to more assistance from the Federal Emergency Medical Teams .
Louisiana’s surge of cases exceeded by Mississippi and Florida.

The 'average' # of deaths is dropping pretty quickly[which gives solace to none who've lost loved ones] but that is a good thing!
Seems to be.
The number of cases and the spread to the more rural areas are of concern. That and other folks who are stroke and heart attack victims finding needed bed space with the C-19 Variant displacements has been a big problem.

Those numbers are trending down at a decent clip, not sure what all the hype is for. Not that many deaths considering population, etc. Thanks coot.

But the work from home part is friggin awesome!!!!

Good.
But the reason that you’re working from home is that your peers and superiors got tired of hearing about all of your egotistical bullscchitt and promoted you up and out so that the real work on-site can progress as it must.

According to the government/MSM/medical establishment et al Missouri is full of COVID, at least as much as Louisiana, so why would "overflow" from Louisiana be sent to another COVID ravaged area?
I gotta go skin and filet some catfish from this morning. Y’all be sweet to one another.
I figured I would post in a medium that would be closer to your comprehension level. That way.............you wouldn't have to go through too many members at fish camp, before you found one that could explain it to you !

The Cox Medical CEO in Springfield mentioned taking others in from Alabama also.
