Been using steel case Russian 7.62x39 for about 25 years now. I can recall only one that didn't go off ( bad primer I believe). Got enough now to last me the rest of my life. A guy named Obama taught me to always stock up. Also have 7.62x39 dies and some brass & bullets kicking around. Also got lots of 7.62x54R stuff. I'm afraid to see what this ban is gonna do to prices when you also factor in the damn inflation we are seeing now.

AK’s, SKS’s, AK74’s among others all got a whole more expensive to shoot and a lot harder to find ammo for. Even 6.5 Grendel and 9x19 and 223/5.56 will be more expensive. Nearly anyone into milsurp guns or common military cartridges will be effected directly or indirectly through higher prices, less competition and less availability. Wolf isn’t my go to 9mm ammo but I have a couple of cases of it. I had planned to take some to the range tomorrow and probably still will but might shoot less of it while waiting to see how this effects other ammo and supplies.

I have an old Norinco AK that I bought in the mid 1980s. For the longest time I just kept it hidden after California banned them, then I shipped it off to my brother to keep it at our place in Alabama. Now that I'm in a free state, I'll be reunited with that AK and this frickin ban is going to make for a very bittersweet reunion. When Biden stole the election, I ordered a bunch of AK magazines just in case but never considered that the ammo was the low hanging fruit. As soon as I heard about this ban I picked up a 420 round pack of AK ammo and I suspect I won't fire that rifle unless and until one of two things happen...the ammo ban ends (unlikely) or I'm in a situation where the need to shoot outweighs the long term interest in having AK ammo.

I just got back from shopping around. My local Academey had boat loads of .223, 5.56 and 7.62. Mostly Winchester bulk packs and 20 packs of Green Tip. I bought a 500 round box of Win 5.56 and a box of Federal .22 AutoMatch 325 box. No one I spoke with had a clue at any of the stores I went to. PSA had pallets of Tulamo in 223 and 7.62. No Wolf.

Funny thing is I hated AKs at the time I bought this one...I had just returned to the US after being in the military for three years overseas and everyone that had been shooting at me was using AKs. I just wanted to get familiar with the AK platform so I could use one if the situation arose, and I thought they were all cheap garbage. My first milsurp rifle was a MAK 90 bought at Dunham’s Sporting Goods for just under $300 when I was 18. Unfortunately I lost the box and goodies that came with it other than the sling. About 10 years ago I threaded the barrel and replaced the thumb hole stock with a proper Chinese Chu wood stock and pistol grip. I never put the money in to pressing out the FSB and replacing it with one that had a bayonet lug. At the end of the day it still wouldn’t have been a true type 56. Nice rifle though and looks mostly correct.

I’m glad I bought a case of Golden Tiger from SGAmmo two days after the Covid craze hit that I’ve sat on.
