The old lady called me about 9.30 yesterday morning said he was throwing and not very responsive except for saying yes or nodding, told her to call the ambulance and I headed home, made the almost 3-hour drive in a little over 2. He has been in the ER since then, no rooms because of the covid patients, still haven't been able to find out what's going on. They won't let anyone in the ER. Can only visit him once he gets a room. Frustrating.
I know its a trying situation, sounds like you are doing everything you can. Best wishes

You might be a good guy who just let life or an Internet forum wear your down. You might have low confidence and enjoy stirring the masses here with little recourse. You might be legit and be expressing morales hoping to either reinforce silent members who are afraid to speak or hoping to create your own following by influencing ideas,,,,,
In any situation I think of you in all the attacks on a struggling member with a sick father as classless at best and much lower at worst. Of all the others wishing/praying well-being on Roger’s Dad, I extend the same to you. Regardless of your outrage at whatever situation you find yourself in losing empathy and compassion for those you disagree with is an awful state. One I hope to never ever be in.
So Dusty, I’ll pray for Roger, and his family, and others I might even disagree with, I’ll pray most for you. Your in a pretty awful place I wouldn’t wish on anyone walking the face of the earth.
Sincere best wishes for your dad.
Roger, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope your dad makes a fast and complete recovery.
Roger, praying for healing and nothing but the best for you and your family. Your Avatar is hateful or worse. All are made in God’s image. Consider your upbringing and compare to those you might see as behaving much more commonly. There’s a plague on mankind, I get it, but judging others based on a position of knowing their mindset without ever experiencing it is neither fair nor just. Until I walk a mile in their shoes,,, so to speak.

I sure as sheeit don't have a monopoly on being anti-Hitler, and I'd never care if someone used a picture of him in jest even though he was responsible for murdering most of my family. What I care about is being a decent and humane person, and talking any type of sheeit to a guy whose father is ill is the act of a worthless scumbag.

Bull [bleep] my mom was in for chemo, she died and it was not covid, my dad was taken to the hospital after suffering a stroke, it was not covid that he died from, I was in hospital four times, did not die from covid, nieces child was taken to hospital, came home very much alive and no covid.

Might be 3 days before he gets a room. He is in a room in the ER, not in the hallway.
Your father has all legal rights to have his personal “Caregiver”, YOU, in the hospital room / Emergency room with him, especially when he is disabled (not working based on disability), which he is from his strokes. He lives with you, and you take care of him. That legally makes you his Caregiver, and gives you the legal right to be with him, especially being he is now further incapacitated in his present condition, and unable to talk, etc.
Here’s the key Roger, go up there dressed nice, and tell them you are his Caregiver, not a visitor, and he has the legal right to have you, his Caregiver in his room 24hr/day to oversee his care and communicate for him.
Tell them, and this is KEY, “I can make your job easier for you” and tell them “I will not be in your way whatsoever”. You know the care he needs etc. This lifts a huge burden off their shoulders being understaffed etc. Wear their mask, let them take your temperature for CV19 symptoms if they require, but no shot.
At this point, they will not be able to whip you around like the general uneducated public, telling you to stay away, who do not know their legal rights as far as “Caregivers” are concerned, because they will now know you know what his legal rights are.
Visitors can be shunned away, but Caregivers cannot, legally.
Go take this new info you are now armed with, and go be with your Dad.
I hope he gets better, praying for him.

stay strong.
it doesn't relate directly to the OP but my mom is getting on up there in age and has had multiple issues lately , some have required emergency room trips.
The first time we took her there ourselves and it was almost a 7 hour wait, which is absurd - they kept prioritizing people over her including Covid patients and at the time we had reason to believe she was having kidney failure.
First, in restrospect, we should have done a bit of research and called around to emergency rooms to get an idea of their wait times instead of just going to the default hospital we go to. With the covid mess that might not have made a difference. After about 3 hours there we started calling around to other hospitals to see if they could get her in, but at that point their advice was its going to be at least 30 minutes to get here and then at least another hour of waiting, we should stay put. I wish we had been calm enough to think it thru before we left the house.
but the second time she had to go , we called an ambulance, and what we have learned - as least as it applies to this hospital - is that ambulance patients receive priority. I'm not saying they would have put her ahead of someone in the middle of cardiac arrest but all things being equal she wasn't going to wait 7 hours with an ambulance crew handing her off. I guess my point is you aren't going to get off an ambulance gurney and get moved into a chair in the lobby.
Now I wouldn't want someone to choose live or death situation over this piece of advice, but if its serious enough that you are going to the emergency room in these current circumstances, I'd consider a $1500 ambulance ride as the cover charge to get in.
Best of luck and a speedy recovery for your Dad
He has a room now, going to shower get dressed and take his ph and glasses to him. He sounded better when I talked to him a little while ago.

We've called the ambulance these last two times, when my brother was working the ER at Sphon South which is close to my home I'd drive him, those were Blood pressure issues, they would get him in quick because of my brother.
Glad he’s doing better and has a room.
Good to hear! Hope you find him well.
My Mom fell again and luckily didn't rebreak the hip but cracked her pelvis, coccyx and some other bone. Currently in transitional care again. UGH!
They are going to do a stint in his heart they found some damage, also going to do an MRI today to see if he had a stroke or his cancer has spread to his brain.
Thanks for the update. I’m glad to hear that he is doing some better.
Prayers sent for your Dad!
Geeez. Sounds like the situation is a bit complicated. I hope the stint procedure goes well. Let’s hope and pray for a good MRI as well.
Hope he gets out of there soon, I don’t even like driving by a hospital, much less being in one.
Thanks, would just like to be able to see him.
Does he have a cell phone? When I was in the hospital emergency room area earlier this year my son brought my cell phone/charger to the hospital and gave them to a nurse who brought them to me.

Oh sorry to hear that Roger. I'm sure you meant to post this in your other thread. I actually had a stint 10 years ago and have been fine since. A little piece of plaque broke off and caused a clot. It's a common procedure now days.
Not sure it'll make a difference but my gramps got a stint when he was 88 years old. They would normally never even offer it to someone that age but he was pretty full of life. We lost him about 4 years later but that was another 4 years no matter how you look at it, and he was doing great up until the last month.
He agreed, getting it done at 8 in the morning, I'm sure he will feel much better. He just doesn't want any open-heart surgery.
Glad to hear the good news. I hope the procedure goes smoothly for him.
He made the right decision. I'm sure the procedure will go well and that he will recover quickly. Good luck.

He had the cath done. no stint yet but his left ventricular ejection fraction is 25 percent which is bad, nurse accidentally told my sil who is a nurse also, when I put her on the ph with her, she realized the cardiologist was supposed to tell us that info.
Well Rog, you and your Dad know 1,000% more than you did just this morning. A pretty good basis for moving forward.

I have had mine dip a couple times near 30-33% on previous echos and perfusion stress test studies over 6 six worth of data.
At that point you usually get referred a little higher up to Heart Failure specialty cardiologist.
In six months of recent medication modification, they got mine back up to near 42-44%

Ambulance patients do not get priority every time and people tried that bullshit every day when I was working. Your mom was sick enough to warrant being admitted in on arrival. Shame on the intake nurse that didn't see how sick your mom was on your first ER visit.
I have seen tons of people get walked into the waiting room because they cut their finger washing dishes or have stubbed their toes and demanded an ambulance ride so they could get seen faster. It didn't happen. I have seen too many people NOT call an ambulance when they should have. For some stupid reason, before we got a confirmed cancer diagnosis my mom would pass or vomit blood. My sister and nephew would struggle getting her in the car to drive to the ER.
Guys, I know we're an older crowd here and some have some real medical issues. If you have a medical issue and can't stand and easily walk to a car, call 911.
Good luck to your Dad hope he gets better.
Thanks, they are going to put him on meds for it Dr was there briefly this morning, but my SIL an RN talked to him, she said he was in hurry but answered her questions. His ventricular ejection fraction was actually 20 percent. The left side of his heart has become lazy, with no blockage.
