I had mine out this spring. I was a week off work but I do a lot heavy lifting. My Doc used the da vinci robot so healing up was quick, a lot less pain than I thought there would be, if your Doc does the same you should be good to dove hunt after a couple days I would think.

Good Luck.

I was really weak for a couple months, and felt like sleeping all the time. Then I got the gut pain like kidney stones. I could not walk. Went to doctor and they thought I was in a car wreck for some reason, because my pulse was crazy but no blood pressure. They assumed I had internal bleeding. Anyway the did all kind of tests, and the MRI guy went high with his scan and found a tumor in my neck. Long story a bit shorter, if it went a few more weeks without surgery I would be dead. One of my doctor's had 6 patients with the same cancer. I am the only one that lived past 3 years. So let them do all the tests. Im on year 11 now. Borrowed time.

Took 4 doctors and 6 months to diagnose my bad gall bladder. I had no stones so they'd dismiss it....

Now I don't have a gall bladder, appendix and missing a foot of colon. 😀 The diverticulitis was worst pain I've ever had, hands down.

I sure miss my old GP. If I had a problem or question between scheduled visits I could still get an answer from him. Call, talk to his nurse, and soon thereafter I'd get a helpful follow up call back from her or the doctor himself. When something came up that needed a doctor's attention yet didn't warrant an ambulance ride his office would somehow manage to schedule a visit in a reasonably short time.

Fuggers these days, they tell you to go to the ER for anything that can't wait until your appointment a month away.

I wouldn't consider it borrowed time, it could be a DNA thing who knows, some people that should never get cancer others that do everything to avoid cancer get it.

My old GP was a shooter, little filipino dude. Super cool, sharp as a tack.....excellent guy and doctor.

Bummed me out when he retired.

Things sure aint like they used to be

Hell my current GP......i was sick snd called, they set up a phone deal, and were late. Said F it and drove my ass to ER
( Appendix about ti burst ).

Was in room for an hr, diagnosed when office called to apologize for being late.

Told em in in ER, dont sweat it ( and hung up on em )

I dont go to dr unless i have a real friggin problem.
Unlike a chitload of blue hairs w good insurace......dr office a social deal for them

Will try some soup in a bit. See if that stays down.

Sorry to hear you are going through this. I spent several days in IC in a hospital because of a misdiagnosis. My work wouldn't let me come back to work without a release. The doctor I saw to get that diagnosed me quickly and correctly. Wrong diagnosis was a heart attack, correct diagnosis was a Galbladder attack. It's a struggle. That's why they call it PRACTISING medicin.

2 months ain't schit bud, I did it for 2 years due to Meds I was on.

Fat is the culprit. I found if I did small amounts of fat I could get away with it probably because small amounts of fat didn't make the stones move.

Take a look at Campbell Soups, they have a lowfat line keep it under 3 grams in one sitting and hopefully that will do it for you. Also take a look at various Beef Jerky's some are very low in fat. read everything you eat for fat content, everything!

if you can't do small amounts of fat your in for a tasteless 2 months.
Posted By: hookeye Re: Back in the ER - 09/07/21
Ive battled it since 98 off and on.
Been smooth sailing for a while once i changed jobs and had normal work hours.

Hit me a month ago and been a bit fugged up since but got the whammy yesterday.

Had upper and lowr GI stuff done way back, of course no problem found

I had a bad gall bladder with no stones. They were convinced gall bladder was fine due to no stones. Finally got a HIDA scan and flunked. Surgery was no biggie, and no issues since.

Yeah, mom.n dad had theirs out at age 50. Im 57.
Just trying to baby it til after gun season.

As for.major attacks, last one was in 99. Had to crawl to.my truck ( was out hunting ). Moderate ones off and on, good run of none....til yesterday.

I gave up dtinking Moutain Dew green after that 99 episode. Was working a lot of hours...

Eating crap, chugging caffeine, double shifts and high stress the norm. Had me all fugged up.

That and being in a clean room. I turned down a couple jobs in other clean rooms after I got out. Mucho bettero health.

Posted By: RiverRider Re: Back in the ER - 09/07/21
I had an attack of severe abdominal pain about three years ago, thought maybe it was appendicitis at first, but then though about it some more---wrong side. wondered where the gall bladder was...everything that goes wrong seems to be on the right side but pain was on the left. Got so bad I spent two days living/dying in my recliner and would go into hyperventilation mode a couple of times each hour. I was pretty sure I was passing a kidney stone. Wife finally insisted on a trip to one of the doc-in-the-box emergency rooms and they did a cat scan or something.

Doc comes back to me a few minutes later and says "No kidney stones. I think your constipated."

"No schidt?"

"Yup, no schidt. Go home and get some magnesium citrate down your gullet."

I did, and it (along with about an hour occupying the porcelain throne) fixed me right up. Until I got relief I'd have never believed the doc.

I was afraid to eat anything at all for the next 36 hours.

Hang in there, I wish you the best.
Posted By: hookeye Re: Back in the ER - 09/07/21
Took a fat dump that morning.
None after and no farting.
Normally a fartin dude but since appendix out last yr I'm a minor league ass ripper. Used to be an All Star.

No farting yesterday. Toradol.killed all pain and sensations
Around 2 i started letting em rip, no big boomers but not little ones. About 12 total and tummy is normal sized.

No stomach upset at this time.

Might be a good night smile
Posted By: hookeye Re: Back in the ER - 09/07/21
Doc said the gurgling was a sign i wasn't t stopped up.
Buddy had his colon rupture.

Kinda have that worry in back of my head.
He waited and it fugged him up for a long while.
Quite the repair.
Posted By: tophorsecop Re: Back in the ER - 09/08/21
Don't worry about gall bladder surgery...had several painful episodes...each seemed to follow a long shift at the Bexar County Jail...thought I wasn't drinking enough water, after the last one I had my ex-wife come home at lunch, and take me to the Doc in the Box...as soon as she left the room I asked the Doc if I had a bruise on my lower back from her hitting me with a 2X4...he assured me no bruise...tests and he referred me to a surgeon to remove my gallbladder the following week, ambulatory surgical center...there at noon, back home at 3PM...'scope surgery...3 little incisions, "LIGHTS...CAMERA...ACTION"(just below the bottom rib) no sutures for those, just butterflies..3 sutures at my belly button...gallbladder was about the size of a small zippered bank bag...had to crush some of the pearls to drag it out the bellybutton incision...went to work the next day, Special Agent US INS...
Posted By: hookeye Re: Back in the ER - 09/08/21
Touchy tonight, just off .....storms came through and really fugged my sinus and arthritis.
I did a warm can of chicken noodle soup, no worry but some concern as Im beat up and not 100% tummy wise.
Am really gunshy after yesterday.

Def no dove hunting or hanging treestands for a while.
Posted By: hookeye Re: Back in the ER - 09/08/21
Made it through night 2, bloated and uncomfortable after eating ....which is how the ER visit started.

Got a couple hrs sleep.

Had me worried, but belly only tender, no real pain.
Just uncomfortable.

Hopefully tonight is even better.

Couple big farts and ill be able to do something today.
