Couple of wildlife pics - 09/11/21
(Disclaimer - I sure ain't Cookie! These were taken shooting from the hip with a phone.)
Went on a walkabout last weekend just to get out of the house and stretch the legs for a bit.
These California bighorn rams were the first critters I spotted. I scrambled up a shale scree slope as well as I could, keeping the sage between them and me. They got nervous at about 25 yards and moved away.
Headed back to the pickup, and I noticed a couple of does crossing a nearby saddle. They stopped every so often and turned to look behind them, so I thought I'd wait and see what they were so interested in. A few minutes later I see tines developing over the horizon, and soon enough these two guys come in to view.
The next day as I'm cruising through a small town I notice a buck laying in someone's yard. First thing that crossed my mind was "That's gotta be a statue", and I drove on past. Curiosity got the best of me though, and I swung around the block. I idled up to it, rolled down the window, stared at it for a while, and then it twitched an ear. I 'bout sheit my pants trying to get the phone out. There were a lot of bucks hanging around in yards (they seem to know it's bow season), but none of them quite this caliber. Saw lots of hard horned typical 4-points (mulies, western count), but this non-typical was the only one still in full velvet.
Lot's of turkeys, whitetails, mulies, and a couple elk.
Oregon would be a great place to live if it weren't for the libtard population. Getting out of the western metro area and over to the eastern part of the state where everyone still has their Trump 2016 flags up, along with their Trump 2020 flags, and a few even sporting Trump 2024 flags makes a guy happy to know the whole state isn't fugged up.
