Listening to other comedians talk about him, it seems like they were all terrified of him and in awe of him. Says a lot about how good he was. Guy was a legend.
I was listening to Norm cut up teachers when a gal teacher in the crowd took offense and attempted to turn heckler. Norm told her teachers have f**ked more children than priests.
deflave; Good evening to you sir, I hope you're all doing well despite being up so late.
Norm used to get invited on some fairly stuffy Canadian news shows because he was Joyce Napier's brother in law and she's a bit of a big time political journalist or at least a facsimile of one.
Anyways, if he was on it was surely watchable TV for a change!
He had a way of ripping on people and the less bright ones weren't cognizant of the process until the rip was pretty huge.
Norm wasn't much older than me, so he's of my "time" I guess, but indeed he made me laugh many, many times.
RIP Norm.
All the best to you all down there in the south deflave.
back in the day when satellite TV was one of those 5 foot wide dishes in your yard, comedy central used to be I think called "the comedy channel" which was really nothing but them showing clips of stand up comedians.
clips that were in the regular rotation included Norm MacDonald, Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider. There were a bunch of others but of that SNL group those were the three in rotation.
that and the unscrambled playboy channel was the only thing I'd watch
