I love Whataburger's cheeseburgers and stuff, but their service has sunk to about eleventeen steps below "atrocious" the last couple of years. What used to take about six or seven minutes now takes twenty minutes at the very least, and often much longer. I don't have time to wait a half hour in the drive-thru just because there are four cars in front of me.
It's still not bad enough to get me into the drive-thru at McPuke-all's, though.

Agreed Andrew. The drive thru Service sucks here too ever since they got bought out.
If there’s more than 3 cars in the drive through line, I just park and go inside.
I went inside to make my order once about two weeks ago. I waited 25 minutes before I nabbed one of the flunkies at the register and told them I was through waiting. I dunno whatinhell's wrong whateburger these days, but it's sure a whatinfuck situation anymore.

I go to Braum's now.
Depends on the store.
I have my favorites that still do a good job.
Tried the one in Goliad a couple of times in the past couple of weeks. They were outstanding! No mess ups on the order, fast and friendly.
My favorite breakfast, sausage breakfast on a bun ranchero. Not on the menu, egg has jalapeños cooked in it and salsa poured on top. Try lt if you’re never had one. Lunch is a number 5 with grill jalapeños and grilled onions.
I hit one up in the Compton-Watts section of Dallas
only 3 other people in there eating.
15 negroes on the clock, still took 20 minutes to make 3 burgers
2 groids were arguing, another two were trying to break it up, another groid not on the clock in his Fubu clothes was back there just hanging out laughing at the whole display.

Can’t be true. Everyone knows they only work at McD’s, BK, and Church’s Fried Chicken. 😜
Truthfully, though, Slum, I’ve been to probably that same one in Dallas after attending the Dallas Worlds Largest Guitar Colletor Show. At Fair Park over by the State Fair Fairgrounds. And The Cotton Bowl. Definitely one of the darkest parts of Dallas. I was the only white guy in there. 😬
There’s a great Burger Joint in Bryan / College Station called The Chicken Oil Company. Been there for ever. They serve there Burgers with Mayo & Mustard both. I prefer Mustard but I can eat them either way after I got used to eating them there in College while attending TAMU.
Well its sure nice you got to go to college and learn what a good burger is supposed to taste like. lol
Lots of great restaurants in a big College Town like that one. Great BBQ too. Never did find a great Steak House there, though. Ate lots of cheap food, mostly, while working my way through school. Couldn’t always afford the good stuff. YMMV
Opened a jar of Chicken Fillet sauce I found in town.
It was good.
Never heard of Chicken Fillet sauce. It’s called gravy down here. 😜
Chili’s Restaurant has some killer Honey Mustard Sauce they serve with their Chicken Crispers. Love the stuff. Best restaurant chicken strips I’ve ever had too. Fried in a beer batter.

It's called a 1/2 Pd of salt mixed in 64 oz of what the fugg ever around here. 🤫🤫🤫😄😄😄😄
The two whataburger’s in my area are terrible. Burgers have no taste at all. Switched to Freddy’s. Hasbeen
I've never had a bad Whataburger, but I have had some that weren't up to their historical standard. The worst was out of state and was pretty bland ... believe it was in Mississippi and the folks behind the counter didn't inspire confidence.
There was a time when any Whataburger meant a Great burger. I'm sure the same could be said about McD's and Burger King once upon a time. But once a chain starts to grow, it seems inevitable some of the original magic is eventually lost. No doubt in my mind the local personnel and management can affect quality as well. I haven't had a Whataburger since sometime before the family sold out. No idea if there has been a slip as a result.
Mayo on a burger makes me sick for some reason. The combo of mayo and mustard might work. There was a Deli I used to go to that had squirt bottles with pre-mixed mustard and mayo -- excellent on a sub sandwich with pastrami and ham.
The glory days of Whattaburger are long past, for sure. Back in 1969 in Laredo, I had my first one. I came on a bun the size of a Buick hubcap with meat all the way to the edge. There was no such thing as a "double" back then, but one was enough to fill the belly of even a gluttonous 20-something. Price was about a buck.
Didn't get back to Texas for a long time. By then, the burgers were still big, but not enough to make you involuntarily blurt "WHAT a burger!"
Years after that, on the now-famous Padre Island 'Fire trip hosted by stxhunter Roger, the #6 Jalapeno Combo was still absolutely amazing with its twin patties, cheese, L&T and loads of hollowpeenies.
A year or two ago in Phoenix, the experience wasn't so amazing. Average burger size, so-so taste, and mediocre service kinda took the shine off.
I'd still go to one whenever I found it, but my expectations would be pretty low.
Wish we still had more than one redline burger here, only one in portland tx, 25 yrs ago there was one next to the Whataburgers on most of the major intersections, a drive-through with picnic tables, they were f-cking good. Whataburger bought them out to kill the competition.

They were definitely much better when I was a kid in the late 60’s early 70’s. And much much bigger too.
One can of chef boyardee 1800 mg 900 per serving, 2 servings in a can

Says mr I eat raw hamburger from cletus the butcher at hilltop market. Those extra profit margin scraping from the grinder packages when they "clean it" every 3 or 18 days.... 👍👍👍🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🥴🥴🥴

That's a good synopsis Rocky. Your out of Texas experience mirrored mine. I'm sure there are plenty locations in Texas that are like that now too as hasbeen pointed out. When I was a kid, they were something special but they weren't close by and on every corner either, so we didn't eat there all that often.
No Whattaburgers in Utah, but we have The Habit, Culvers, Grizzly Burger, Carl's Jr, Freddy's, In & Out, Five Guys, three or four excellent local chains like Crown burger and Warren's - and all the other mega-chain places. Plus Mom and Pop places like Burger Barn and Jeremiah's (both serve buffalo burgers!) No shortage of places to get a burger, for sure. Priced from a buck to $9 or so, take your pick. A veritable plethora.
Said Manager claimed the same customer had harassed him in the past though so he might be going for the ol’ self-defense-in-response-to-bullying tactic recently applied here in Texas.

I imagine a lot of fast food customers earn that. Few get paid.
