1)Republicans of convenience e.g. being in politics, business or what have you.
2)Republicans of conviction e.g. raised as farmers/ranchers and church goers and such.
Am around the #2 group as family, friends and church; mostly rural or with strong rural ties.
A couple things that have been said or as between the lines go.
They don't reject the 2020 election outcome and are tired of all the shanagons.
They say the majority of the whatever you call those at the capitol on Jan6 probably haven't taken the time to vote often at all.

Although most remain registered as democrats, over the last couple of decades more and more have been voting for republican candidates, with the majority voting for Trump and straight a republican ticket in the past two elections elections. Their reasoning -- 'We didn't leave the Democrat Party, ...it left us'...

Long time registered Democrats say in unison that they didn't leave the Democrat party -- the party left them.

Even the current Democrat mayor of our town said he'd had his fill and that he'd never vote for a Democrat for a state or federal level office ever again.

Last KY state level election only one democrat was elected, Gov. Andy Beshear, and he won only after promising teachers raises and increase state employee retirement benefits (which he still hasn't done) and even then he won by the smallest margin ever recorded.

Odds are strong he will be a one term governor.

Trump is a heavyweight sinking in his own muddy bog.

Rasmussen released a poll two weeks ago that said if the election were today, Trump would beat Biden by 10%. Against Kamela, it would be 13%.
