Think of all the money I save skipping breffust and lunch
And only eating bacon maybe once a month.
lol
Do they sell even slices?
Actually seen bacon the other night $6 a pack. Thought it was a rip off at the price.
Maybe I should head back out tonight.
Just got back from my weekly grocery shopping, and the butcher (coincidentally ethnically Chinese), was there, and I asked him a question. After answering it, he started going on about the crazy prices, and that he was worried the nation was going into Great Depression, because he said that all prices at the store are scheduled to increase by 50% next week. He really seemed worried. He told me even he wouldn't be able afford to shop there soon, even with his employee discount.
Worrisome times.
You can't bail out the banks over and over with printed up currency, then print up huge additional amounts to send everyone checks for nothing, without this being the inevitable result. Almost certainly intentional, too. The folks behind it aren't stupid.
cost of <insert anything here>
its all gettin outta hand
sounds like we aren't too far away from being willing to pay anything if they actually have it on the shelf
I need to get my Tyrone Biggums hat and go check out the food bank

Bought a 3lb package of thick cut bacon at Kroger’s yesterday for 14 bucks.

Worse comes to worse, I can live on eggs, LOL. My chickens produce four to six per day. The back pasture is full of cottontails and squirrels, too.
I just got back from Costco tonight
Didn't look at bacon, bought a $4.99 chicken and checked on the price of a set of tires. The tires on sale were $980 installed out the door
dayum.......That's a lot of bacon, not as much as it used to be, but still...

Damn. I've got a couple 24 oz packages of thick sliced Hickory smoked in the freezer. I'll be rich in a few weeks!
I don't know how or why, but California has a pig welfare law coming in January that all the news sources say will raise pork prices nationwide. The new law says piggy has to room to roam like the deer and the antelope. WTF? Maybe that is pumping pork prices too. But I just started paying attention to a rancher friend who has raised a couple truckloads of pigs this year. He bought weaners and then fattens them for market, not because he wants to be a pig farmer, but because he had a bunch of low quality grain to get rid of. Anyway, money wise it's working for him. But what I noticed, the pigs are in a 20 acre pasture, and they don't want to be alone...they herd up something fierce like sheep. They sleep together, eat together, nap together, cheek on jowl as the saying goes. City people making animal care laws, Jeezus keerist.
Deer, elk, bear, and birds being stuffed in the coolerator helps.
i like wrapping stuff in bacon.
its the American way.
used to use the "store brand" bacon.

It is unhealthy to eat all that meat full of saturated fat and cholesterol. The goal is to keep you healthy and cut down on methane production so that our grandkids have nice planet to live on.

Actually, they say 'Bless your heart'. One of the best ways to loose weight is to buy foods one does not like to eat. Eating less equals loosing weight.

I would have skipped the Keystone and bought another pack of bacon!
Our favorite bacon was on sale about 3 weeks for $2.99/lb. As we had about 20 to 25 pounds in the freezer, I didn’t want to make a special trip to town ......I’m regretting that decision ! 🤬 memtb
I would quit drinking if I had to drink Keystone light.
Pigs produce far far less methane than cows. Don't know why, but they do.

Most all of the meat my rural grandmother, and other kinfolk ate day in and day out was home raised and cured pork -- bacon, shoulder, and occasionally a little ham (most cured smoked hams were sold for badly needed cash money), and cooked everything in home rendered lard. They lived well into their senior years and enjoyed good health up until their last days. Grandma was just a couple years shy of 100 when she passed.

Too true.
As to bacon I buy it sliced to order at the butcher shop in super thick. About 4X and thick as usual. Then start the smoker and marinate in Worcestershire Sauce. Then spread out on silicone smoking mesh, spread brown sugar with a bit of garlic and onion powder then shove it in the smoker. Candied bacon! George Orwell wasn't really Mr. Orwell either! Hah! He was Eric Blair. I don't know why he had to use a pen name. But he was worth paying attention to. They are changing history and taking down the statues. Be Well, RZ.

Not ruminants.
I buy a couple of pigs and a beef every year from my neighbor. He told me this week that the cost for feed to finish the steer from the first of this month to the end of the year (in hay and grain) will be $600. Pigs around $300.
My fish feed prices re going nuts.
The high price of grain and beans will trickle down to the consumer pretty quick. They were artificially low due to the Chines embargo, now they are artificially high due to the Chinese filling their pipeline again.
As usual, politicians eff everything up.
