I think you have a serious infection Roger. Infections in the head are nothing to screw around with. This would be one of those very are occasions I would knuckle under and go see a doctor.

I'm going to go after the weekend, got work to finish.
BTW, I am not a doctor but I AM a campfire medical expert.
crazy
Not a medical expert but Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists are a thing, so there’s a connection.

Was it that ear that got infected recently when you were on that ranch on a job?

FWIW I’ve had a chronic middle ear infection in my left middle ear for prob’ly decades now, comes and goes. Drains occasionally into the ear canal or feels like down the Eustachian tube to my throat.

Posted By: High_Noon Re: campfire medical experts - 10/30/21
Didn't the same thing happen to you a couple of months ago?

Could be brain worms.

Jim Henson, the Muppet Man, waited, and died.
Posted By: goalie Re: campfire medical experts - 10/30/21
I literally do triage for a living.

You'd get sent to an urgent care with imaging capability or, preferably, a real ER.

And I'd CYA chart that you declined because you had stuff to do, and off to the next call.....

No, mustard root and feather moss poultice.

Keep in mind triage protocols may be written initially by someone who cares about people, but they're approved by people who care about money.

We don't do <24hr triage recommendation for fun. 😉

Seriously, this is the Bible of triage.
Infections can basically eat up tissue. If the infection that was bleeding externally creates a space into the canal which drains into the posterior nasal passage then that blood could be blown out your nostrils. I would go and get it checked. Delaying will just increase damage if it is there.

That doesn’t sound very good. Maybe he could try blowing his nose. If snot comes out his ear, then the connection will be established!

I’d lissen to the goal keeper.
I am a Board Certified internet medical expert. Your symptoms make my diagnosis an easy one.

You have gonorrhea of the ear. I think Doc Rocket will concur.

Treatment: Stay clear of family reunions, and especially those cousins who have bloody discharge out of any orifice. Take a cotton ball, put it in your ear canal, then seal it with candle wax. You should be good to go to finish any work you have this weekend. You may or may not have hearing by Monday and the infection may or may not reach your bloodstream. No worries though. You’ll have finished your necessary work.

For the life of God man, listen to goalie and the others. Go to the friggin doctor!

Crappy Hampers favorite "pastor". A fire sprinkler mechanic that works out of a strip mall in Phoenix.

Steven Lee Anderson (born July 24, 1981) is an American preacher and conspiracy theorist. Founder of the New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist movement, he is pastor of Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona. He has received international notoriety and condemnation for advocating the death penalty for homosexuals and praying for the deaths of former U.S. president Barack Obama and media personality Caitlyn Jenner. He produced a documentary titled Marching to Zion in which he "championed a wide range of anti-Semitic stereotypes", according to Matthew H. Brittingham of Emory University.

He has been banned from many countries, including Jamaica, Canada, the Schengen Area—which is made up of 22 of the 27 European Union countries, the Republic of Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. As of 2019, Anderson has been banned from more than thirty countries, including every English-speaking developed country other than the United States (his home country); and most English-speaking African countries. In September 2016, after he had announced his intention to travel to South Africa, Malusi Gigaba, the Minister for Home Affairs banned Anderson and his followers, citing the Constitution of South Africa and stating "I have identified Steven Anderson as an undesirable person to travel to South Africa"

Anderson established Faithful Word Baptist Church as a fundamentalist Independent Baptist church in Tempe, Arizona. Members of the church meet in an office space that is located inside a strip mall.
Anderson is part of a connected but "...diffuse group of theologically-focused, anti-Semitic Christian conspiracists who deny the Holocaust." In May 2015, he posted a YouTube video, titled The Holocaust Hoax Exposed, promoting Holocaust denial.

Anderson made national news following a confrontation with United States Border Patrol agents at an interior checkpoint on Interstate 8, about 70 miles (110 km) east of Yuma, Arizona. He refused to move his car or roll down his windows, triggering a 90-minute standoff and the calling of Arizona Department of Public Safety officers to the scene. The confrontation ended when authorities broke Anderson's car windows, tased him, and forced him out of the vehicle. Anderson said they beat him while he was lying prone on the ground.

You're fine. Carry on as you usually do. If your eyes start bleeding profusely too, post up again and someone might do you a solid and contact Doc Rock for an opinion. If he's not busy crashing planes, that is.
If an infection gets to your inner ear, swelling and/or damage there could lead to vertigo. An inability to keep your balance, 24/7 dizziness, which would make it difficult to get up from the couch, let alone drive or go to work.

More worrisome than actually dying IMHO.

Roger;
I see your light is on and I'm hoping and praying you're sitting in the ER somewhere in Texas on your phone.

I am cognizant that the odds of you listening to some little grey bearded bald Canuck are slim, none and otherwise if you won't listen to our friend Leighton or goalie - WHO DOES THIS FOR A LIVING....

Nonetheless, here I am asking you as politely yet firmly as possible to take the prudent course, if not for yourself then for your new grandchild who might want to get to know you in person rather than from stories, you know?

Truly I do wish you all the best Roger.

They do but it’s behind the eardrum. There’s no common passage outside the eardrum. The eustachian tube connects the inner ear and the back of the throat.

When I blow my nose air comes out of my ear.

That explains blood coming out both places. I'm betting it won't kill you. The underlying HBP or cancer might if that caused it. Always trying to be a little ray of sunshine.

Can we talk about crashing the Mooney?
Hope you’re feeling better Roger.

I believe he's referring to Roger's buddy taking his expensive boat to a rock concert, so to speak.

A Mooney is an air-o-plane. Maybe there’s a boat too?

Doc's plane engine quit in flight. He put it down safely, but made a hole-in-one into a prairie dog hole with the nose wheel just as he was coming to a controlled stop. Bent the front gear.

No drama, just takin' care of business, as usual for Doc.

I've flown with Doc and he's one of the safest pilots I've ever been around and that's more than just a few.

That’s horrible.

Any news on the cause of the engine failure?

His one and only engine quit in flight? Sounds pretty dramatic to me.

lost oil pressure due to a line that had been replaced failing or coming loose, if I remember right.

That might be the reason for a discussion with the maintenance folks then. A dead-stick landing is an interesting dilemma. The little Piper I flew had a glide ratio of 7:1, meaning it would glide 7 miles while dropping 1. Theoretically, if you had a landing strip within 7 miles you were ok if you also had more than 5k feet altitude.

However, I was taught to visually pick out a landing spot below somewhere below while spiraling down to lose altitude. In Iowa and much of the Midwest, where you have a checkerboard of 1 mile squares with crisscrossing gravel roads or so, there’s no lack of landing spots, the biggest issue being high lines crossing over gravel intersections. And throwing up gravel damaging the plane.

Sounds like doc roc did well under duress which of course he’s done for a long time. There also truth to the old saying that flying is a lot like anesthesia in that induction — going to sleep — and emergence — waking up are analogous to taking off or rotation and landing respectively. Because, that’s often when critical incidents tend to occur without a lot of time to work them out.

Correlating with sphincter tightening or loosening as the case may be…😉

Sorry to detract from Roger’s problem. Frankly, Roger, I’d be pretty motivated to get in and get some studies done to find out what’s going on. Hope the antibiotic works pronto.
