I was talking to another old guy at the gym yesterday about COVID-19. I got my booster on Saturday, he got his on Sunday. We both have a great deal of difficulty understanding all the anti-vax BS. Now, the differences in vaccination rates by ethnicity have shrunk, the greatest discrepancies are best explained by party affiliation.
I postulated that if the case fatality rate was higher, maybe the anti-vax crowd would change their minds. Near as I can tell, the case fatality rate is ~1.6%, 692000 deaths/42.3 million cases. Not high enough to change minds. Let's say the death rate was 20%. Here on the 'fire, it appears that the percentage anti-vaxxers is higher than in the nation as a whole. What if one of five here who got COVID-19 died? Or one in five of their family and friends who got it died? I can't help but think you'd see a lot less dumbf*ckery posted here.

Paddler, if you see this, it’s more anti-mandate than anti-vax which you should know by now. Plus this vax is different than all the previous vax’s in speed through trials, and by it’s nature. So there is that.
Plus, 629,000 deaths? I’ve seen and heard 800,000 deaths; I sincerely doubt there were more than 300,000 and these were those who died WITH Covid, not FROM Covid. And what happened to the influenza stats for 2020? I guess there were no “flu” cases then. There in lies a major problem with mixed, and incorrect information. How about absolutely avoiding any natural immunity discussion or, from the start, denying any medical therapy before they even studied it. You should know their is no consensus in the medical community either; in fact, there is no freedom of opinion or practice as nurses and doc’s are being walked out of hospitals or marginalized.
Plus, the VAERS, the stats of which are not made public, yet there are all kinds of anecdotal report of MI’s, strokes, miscarriages, organ failure, and vascular disease, and death after the vaxes. If not correlation, then just coincidence right?
Plus, another thing: This administration, which weaponized Covid-19, lies or obfuscates about everything and are completely untrustworthy, so, yeah, differences in opinion are often related to political affiliation.

I am almost sick from worry about watch4bear. He hasn't posted since January and I can't find anyone in Alaska that will tell me his real name. I think he is decomposing in a cabin somewhere. I went to Alaska this summer but nobody could tell me who he was. It is a big place.
