How do keep them from fogging up?
Posted By: kevinJ Re: Do you hunt with glasses? - 11/23/21
I wear glasses all the time. Keratoconis

The coatings they put on my glasses prevent fogging for the most part

Otherwise rainx wipes lol

Got some new cousin in-laws

Both wear glasses. Making gut shots on deer last couple years. Every time me and Ren50 pull up to them, them dudes are always fogged up. Couple of mouth breathers.

Just wondering if the glasses are their problems

Aint just their only problem.
It's a grand mal combo of schit....
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I need glasses. Good glasses from a competent optician make a huge difference in spotting game, shooting, the works. You can get coated lenses, or just use RainX or some other ski-goggle anti-fog. As for bifocals or any of that, heck no. Distance vision only so you can spot jill pokes, rocks, everything that is going to poke or deck you in the woods.
If you need something for detail, keep those in your pocket with a fog rag.

Maybe their not carrying hot enough to burn off the moisture?

Oh, in answer to your question, yes. Sunglasses from sunup to sundown. Light sensitive eyes. Always have a hat on too. And mostly I have wrap around glasses or safety prescriptions with side shields.

Maybe they don't fog up much because I live out west, where the humidity isn't "dripping wet" 355 days a year?
It's a bitch.
When it's real cold, and you are scoping people to figure out
who they are, either your scope hogs, or your glasses.

Especially if you are breathing hard are after stripping the orange and
running to a good hiding place.
Gotta be careful too.
Have the trigger on my 700 turned to 14 oz and the
safety only half works carrying hot.

Gut shot a llama last year. Thought it was a deer, was scoping it
from the truck. Dropped the flashlight, and bumped the safety.
Kabooo! All the lights came on in the trailer.
Had to get out of there quick. Heard later that the kids were
doing a Go-Fund-me to pay for a Llama colostomy.
Kicked em a 5 when my check came.
Least I could do.
Yep, I wear 'em.

Body heat fogs them some.

Take hat / toque & glasses off, to acclimatize.

All good !
Reading glasses in my shirt pocket.

Have worn glasses for distance vision for 20+ years. Only have trouble with fogging if I'm overdressed and putting out a lot of effort. Remedy to that is slowing down and opening up the layers to get cooled down and removing the hat. Latest set with all the fancy coatings doesn't seem to have much trouble with fogging at all.
I wear glasses and don’t have that problem, unless I go from a cold outside to a warm & humid inside environment.

Might I suggest the below for the mouth breathers in your life:

You know, if you could get those with the coating that looks like a fly's eyes, you might just scare someone when they scoped you.

Lavender or puce?
Hunted my whole life with glasses until I had the surgery, I don't remember having a fogging issue.

Could be their triple layered Scent Loc suits
I had to wear glasses for most of my life, had IOL replacement last year, distance vision is perfect only use dollar store readers. Scope use is great.

I did ok with glasses on the HighPower rifle range for years, just had to work at it some.

Are those marketed as a Deer hunting product???
😁😄😄😄🤣🤣🤣
I only wear glasses when I want to see - an progressive lenses at that.
Posted By: Teal Re: Do you hunt with glasses? - 11/23/21
Wearing glasses 40 years.

Fogging isn't a problem - I use wipes from work to clean them, supposed to be anti-fog. Dunno.

I'm usually in the woods long before light so they have time to equalize temps maybe?
Yes, Shot

Progressive. Colorado is dry so that helps. They will fog when coming in from cold. Or wearing my covid mask. 🤔

That extra pair in my pocket along with all the other stuff almost makes me envy womens purses.
Only to fill out the tag.
Posted By: stantdm Re: Do you hunt with glasses? - 11/23/21
I wore glasses until I had my cataracts removed. No more fogging for me. I still need reading glasses but my distance vision is great.
As Teal mentioned I used à lense cleaner many years ago that was anti fog, seemed to work pretty good.
Posted By: slumlord Re: Do you hunt with glasses? - 11/23/21
What about cat crap? That work on glasses?
Vortex and other companies sell anti-fog spray.
Posted By: rem141r Re: Do you hunt with glasses? - 11/24/21
ya wore thenm my whole life. rainy, warm weather is a bitch to hunt in. glasses fog, scope gets wet and smeary, etc. never turned me into a gut shooter though. my namesake's nickname is Gutshot. dude used to blast them right through the paunch every time. then he would make an even worse mess when i made him gut them. thankfully he outgrew that. but he still keeps the nickname. i've only gutshot 2 or 3 my whole life. one in particular was on my daughters first hunting trip. pretty much the last one too. deer was walking and the trigger on my ruger was like 30 lbs. not good. not good at all. others were from head-on shots. i avoid those if at all possible.
Cat crap would be used to increase you night vision.
Posted By: AZmark Re: Do you hunt with glasses? - 11/24/21
Just rub that cat crap all over yourself and a little extra in the armpits and it'll cover up your human stench.

That used to be a huge problem for me. I've worn glasses since I was 9. It would be impossible for me to hunt without them. For the first 2 decades of my hunting, I was plagued with the glasses fogging up just before I took the shot.

1) I found some anti-fog stuff at a gun show. It worked great. I just put a dab on my lenses before I went out.
2) Before the little jar ran out, I heard Dawn dishwashing liquid worked. I tried it, and it worked just fine.
3) After a few years of using Dawn, the problem just stopped. I've not had it since.

To this latter point, I have no explanation. I had no change of gear, no new revelations, no new meditation practice. It just happened.

I need glasses to read. Very slight scrip for distance.
Actually see better in the woods if there's sun without glasses ( no reflection/ glare ).

So.....no glasses hunting. Which also means no phone texting
Was a problem I lived with for many years then decided to get lasik. Problem solved.

I think some cat crap in their Christmas stockings is in order.

Seems like I was born with glasses on. Up here late fall on fogging is always an issue that a person has to deal with. I have progressive lens and keep two pair of glasses with me. The ones I use when hunting I either use cat crap or a very slight flim of shaving cream rubbed on and polished off. All leave a bit of a film that I do not like for normal reading / work so rather than washing off and re-applying I just switch glasses.

Picked the soap / shaving cream advice up from google research

"A simple, do-it-yourself fix is to polish your glasses with a bar of pure white soap or a dab of shaving cream. Coat both sides of the lenses, let them sit for a few minutes and then wipe away the soap or cream with a microfibre cloth"

They aint getting anymore helpful advice from me. I’ll have to put a choker chain on renegade50, that mofo always wanting to help em track gut shot deer and chit.

I often wear yellow safety glasses when deer hunting and always when grouse hunting.

Haven't had a lot of fogging problems.

Bifocals. I can’t tell you how many times they’ve kept me from taking a poke in the eye going into, or walking out of the woods in the dark.
