I started taking it yesterday.
Anyone on it?
Been on it for 15 years now.
I started taking it yesterday.
Anyone on it?
Yes
It's a beta blocker, restricts my heartrate like a governor on a car engine when working out or doing some serious exertion. I feel like I hit a brick wall.
Weird dreams is the only one I’ve ever noticed.
A few others here have mentioned the same side effect.
I take it for a hereditary Tachycardia condition.

Never noticed that side effect, personally.
Been on it for 15 yrs now too.
The first mountain or two kicks my arse, but once I get warmed up all is fine.
You should ask the physician who prescribed it, not people on 24HC.
Weird dreams for sure!!!
I also think it makes me sweat more.
I got in 2 minor fender benders at the mine while on it. About a week after the second one I ran out and while waiting for a refill from the VA it seemed like a fog was lifted. Up to that point I didn't realize how much it effected me. Stopped taking it a called the Dr. Took me off of it and gave me something else. Careful, makes you stupid without knowing it.
George
I just started it a couple of weeks ago, no side effects but it doesn't seem to be doing the job either. Don't know if the Doc will change or increase dosage.
Yes 200 mg. per day for a fast heart beat that gets out of control.over 200 beats a minute. That isn't a good feeling. Dreams for sure. been taking it for 6 years
Weird dreams for sure!!!
I also think it makes me sweat more.
LOL. I’d rather bleed than sweat, as GrandDad used to say ! 🤠
Vivid dreams, some nightmares. However, It definitely slows down those of us with fast heart rates. Overall, I feel better taking it.

What is your diagnosis? It’s commonly prescribed for heart failure.
I’d swear we had a previous metoprolol thread within the last 4 weeks.
I remember commenting that is was some 1980s drug technology. I dont know of anyone on digitalis but JFC on here with Podunk medical, who knows. Probably still installing Dalkon shields in Billings.
What else do you take for it? Beta blockers aren’t first-line agents for hypertension.
“ Beta blockers aren't recommended as a first treatment in people who have only high blood pressure. Beta blockers aren't usually prescribed for high blood pressure unless other medications, such as diuretics, haven't worked well. Also, a doctor may prescribe a beta blocker as one of several medications to lower blood pressure.
Beta blockers may not work as effectively for black people and older people, especially when taken without other blood pressure medications.
Beta blockers are used to prevent, treat or improve symptoms in people who have:
Irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
Heart failure
Chest pain (angina)
Heart attacks
Migraine
Certain types of tremors”
Triple bypass Jan of 17 and doc has me on 12.5 mg a day. In the beginning got light headed if I got up off the floor to fast and that seems to be the only side effect that I had. Was told it was a rev limiter also. Doc says the 12.5 mg is just short of a why bother. During intense work I feel off for a moment then My pulse settles down to work mode and no issues. Did a strenuous climb with some friends after a slow start I found myself able to keep up with the youts 20 years my junior and ahead of half them sorry ass 40-50 year olds.
I started taking it yesterday.

THIS!
I've been on it about a year, and I second this! also combined with some types of blood pressure meds, you can kiss the days of erections goodbye.
100 mg metoprol succinate, since heart bypass 8-2019

Not an issue here but do know a few men that report the issue.
Couple of years for tachycardia/ PVC’s. No problems here. It does make it easier to go to sleep and remain asleep.
Mines the same, I assume it'll get increased.
Mines the same, I assume it'll get increased.
Weenies ! I take 200 mg daily. 🤠
I also take 10 mg Amlodine, and 100 mg Losartan.
Not sure the dose, but have taken it for years.
I'm like aj300mag. Keeps my heart rate low.
Wasn't told to avoid it before a stress test, they wore my arse out
trying to get my heart rate up. It would not go up.
So they did a chemical one.
PS you never want a chemical stress test.
It was bad cop, interrogating someone, terrifying.
I was seriously making deals with God!
10-4 on not having a chemical stress test. I hated the only one I ever had.
I take it for Essential Tremors. Helps keep my hands from shaking. One pill per day is normal. If I am hunting/shooting I take 2 in the morning and 2 at lunch. Really helps me hold steady
I was recently prescribed metoprolol as a jsut in case med. I have had 2 episodes of SVT this year and that is where to doc wants to go. SVT sucks, took the jolt to break the first one and chemically converted the second time.
Made me tired, bad. I quit smoking and BP settled down. I came back to life after I quit that one, I was on 4 different meds for a while, over weight, stressed and a chain smoker...just take a water pill now.

fat ass 😃
Whatever you take, just make sure you take it.
Compliance is one of the biggest problems doctors face.
I skip my morning isosorbide dinitrate/hydralizine if I’m climbing trees or ladder stands. I don’t head out with waffles, hashbrowns, eggs, sausage and gravy at 0500 on my gut.
So my stomach is empty,
Rather my vena cava be rigid when I’m 16ft up. That iso makes me loopy
I don’t know who dafuk eats all dat sheeit or has time to when trying to beat the sunrise.
😃
I got a script last year because i have SVT heart attacks sometimes from coughing to much from allergy.
I only take them when i can not get it to quit on my own.
So far i have only had to take one.I got them when i went to the er because i couldn't get it to quit.
Both over/under blood pressures are almost the same and pulse rate around 172 or higher.
Afterwards it feels like you have just finished a marathon.
In layman's terms the damn pump is cavating.
Not sure the dose, but have taken it for years.

I've had two chemical stress tests in the last 10 years. Piece of cake.

Damn, I didn't think it was so bad.
The again, I drive cars down the rock embankment for a swim now and then,

😃
I avoid trying to beat the sunrise nowadays.
At Medicare age +, I had never beaten it in all those years when younger. It always wins the fight.
Why keep trying when the dang thing just keeps coming up. Almost like it's destined to do so.
They did the chemical test on me as well as some kind of moving picture show/with sound of my heart.
They said that folks have told them it would feel like you got kicked in the chest by a horse.
To me it just tasted bad.
I had had 4 attacks before the picture show and had no damage to the heart, they were more concerned about the back of the heart.
And it was tough to get all of that slime they use off my chest and back afterwards.
The shower at home felt good.
I've got to where I count mine when I pick them up
at the pharmacy. They're the most expensive one
I take. They fooled me today and gave me all the
metoprolol and shorted me 10 of the amlodipine.
Do the hood rats do something special with their
stolen BP/ cardiac meds ?
I've always had vivid/strange dreams anyway, so
I don't notice any extra effects from the metoprolol.
I always seem to be starting a new job, so does
that count as a nightmare? I always wake up before
I can find the employees restroom
Should also ask while the door is open
Anybody have the crotch artery cut open
and have nerve damage from it?
After I got to leave the hospital, about a week
after my leg stopped working and I had to go
back for a couple of days for observation.
It would still happen occassionally and was
as if a switch controlling my right side of my body
as if I were having a stroke, but they swore up
and down there was no sign of a stroke
A friend had the same problem, but they were
telling him he was having strokes with apparently
no damage at all
JMHO- they cut nerves, but won't admit to it, and
getting a doctor to tell off on another doctor is
impossible unless they'll make money off of it
My primary care physician at the time just almost
barely confirmed my suspicions, but never would
go that far
Ranger, my BIL had a similar result from having a stent implanted that way. Sis says he has recovered. Best of luck to you.
Damn.
Old fuukers comparing meds and maladies. Pretty soon you’ll be comparing peckers with Paul Barnard.
Weight gain.
I couldn`t shed my winter weight after starting Metoprolol.
Went off of it and got back down to my normal weight.
25 mg metopolol succinate after a double bypass in 2016. No side affects that I notice.
Metoprolol, Amlodine, and Losartan for the past 6 months and it has given me issues. Talked to Dr. and he reduced Metroprolo by 50% but still have no energy, before this I was on the go all day long, now I am at maybe 10% of my old self on this stuff. Anyone have days that you just feel like crap all day long and don't want to do anything?
I take one, 25 mg Metoprolol succinate, once in the morning. So far, the only negative is vivid dreams and a couple of nightmares.
Good news is my heart doesn't race like it did before taking the Metoprolol and I feel better. Time will tell.
I take 50mg once a day. No side affects that I know of
Damn.

Not taking that challenge.
He is about 6 foot of dick.
I take 25 mg Metoprolole twice a day. Weird dreams that are quite vivid in the fact that I sometimes remember them. Only one nightmare that I can recall. Feel like a bloody zombie in the morning but usual seem to be almost normal by noon. I seem to have a problem keeping my weight down to some degree. Got started on that pill the first week in march this year. Had a heart attack, my first on 27 February 2021.
On chemical stress tests, it've had a couple or three. Hate them with a royal purple passion. Feels like an elephant slowly lowering his butt on my chest.

I like them chemical stress tests I always try to get the tech to bump me a few extra CCs of juice.
Room spins, feel weightless for about a minutes.
Fuggin awesome
They fugged me up last month at a stress test. The tape ripped a few layers of meat and hair off my arm lol
I gave sandbilly a daily scab report. 😂
Looks like Italy but backwards.
I'm told to take it in the morning, with food.
I have been on it a long time, 2003 I think. No issues that I am aware of.
