Was a dud.
Not even a semi fresh track on field.
Was rough night after work, knee was bitchin.
Got a couple hrs sleep and went.
Couldnt climb in any stand so sat on ground kinda.

Old wooden stand collapsed so put cushion on part and parked it. Less stress on knee.

Came home, soaked knee and zonked on couch 4 hrs straight.

The fam was at my oldests. I crashed at home w orange kitty.
Still on couch....babying knee.

Worthless day. But maybe try tomorrow.
Wind howling i may just lay around and rest

Good luck to those giving it a last hurrah🙂

I tried to fill a tag today and had a nice mulie buck lined up at about 450 yards, only to have some #$@!(*&# road hunters slowly cruise by and drive the deer off. I wish I had a tag for road hunters.

Took the boy out yesterday. Went to a chunk of private we were given access to. Got there late but spent some time glassing and hiking.

Pulled stakes and headed north where we could glass some big country that is bma and hit up some state sections. Few hours of that and we had seen a total of 3 deer.

Returned back to the private and chugged down to the river to hunt a chunk of heavy brush and trees. I took the river side and sent the boy parallel on the brushy side towards the hay fields.

Worked like a charm. Deer quietly flushed from me in front of him. He was excited and got a nice buck in his sights. Realized he was further away than he thought, so he decided to stalk closer. Set up again and realized the deer still didn't know he was there so he stalked closer. Got to within 100-150 yards and set up and hit the buck. Shot him with deflave's old bergara that I took off his hands when he departed our country a few years back. Sucker took off away from the river, towards the hayfields. Turned around and headed back into the brush.

Boy finally called me and said he hit a buck good. I told him to not chase but go back where he was, pick up the blood and follow. By the time I got up and over to him he had located the whitetail. Nice beautiful symmetrical 4 point.

Right before dusk and like a gomer, I hadn't packed headlamps. Never thought to look. Didn't think we'd be out all day. So I quickly got to gutting and sent the boy for the truck.

Boy is stoked. His first deer dropped by himself and followed up also.

If I knew how to, I would post a pic.
