I was raised to believe that your word was sacred. Have I broken it over years that's a given. Everytime though I have been lessen by it, to the point I do my utmost to keep it.It seems individuals today think nothing of it, in fact they seem to wear it as a badge of honor.
This is just one of the things of these "Times" that makes this world harder for me to recognize anymore.

I am so disappointed that our great nation has become a nation of liars. I don't know where one can go to find honesty.

Man has never, at any time, been trustworthy.

If you surround yourself untrustworthy people you will see untrustworthy people. If you surround yourself with trustworthy people you will see trustworthy people.

Get away from me then. You are not trustworthy.

You can go to your own heart.

An honest person can see honesty in others, and recognize it.

A liar and a dishonest person sees only lies and dishonesty in others.

I was also raised to believe that a mans word was his bond and do my best to live that way. I see that and other great values fading away as well all around us.

Always been this way. Some folks keep their word, and others have no character.

I keep mine, if I say I’m gonna do something, I do it.

I've been a member here since 2007 and most of the individuals on here have always been upright and men of their word.

In this day and age of instant research, an online perpetual history, and incessant fact checkers the politicians should be very careful in what they say and promise. Unfortunately, when they get caught in a lie (and they continually are) they just lie or deny and don't seem to care. The media is complicit in covering up, especially for the liberals.
I think it was Mark Twain who said it should be far easier to just tell the truth. You don't need as good memory.
I try hard to be honest and not make promises I can't keep.
But, I have failed once or twice. Mostly in my teen dating years.
