Quigley down under?
Was Walter the old dude that helped him make bullets?
No , it wasn't Quigly Down Under.....................
My favorite was Support Your Local Sheriff, where Bruce Dern was in jail. James Garner played the Sheriff and fooled him by dripping red paint on the floor because they didn't have any bars yet.
My second favorite was Rio LOBO? Where he is known as "Stumpy".
My mistake, the movie was Rio Bravo..............
The TV show The Real Mcoys was on last night.
He was first to win 3 academy awards.
That Mule, Old Rivers and Me
A recipient of mustard gas in WWI . Said to cause him to loose his teeth and gave him the unique voice. Always liked him or his characters.
Or so the story goes, rebuttals are fine with me.
He was great in the Bad News Bears…
Played a great Rummy in “To Have and Have Not”. Check out the way he walked. Great Rummy Walk!

This.
The 18 year-old Lauren Bacall was the other raisin in that cookie. What a little yummy! Bogie got right on that.
Rio Bravo. He was in many of John Wayne movies. Jack Elam was another great character actor.
Support Your Local Sheriff.
If this is where he played Judge Roy Bean, good movie.

Sergeant York with Gary Cooper (its a real oldie).
Not a movie but a short-lived TV series: "The Guns of Will Sonnet". One of those shows I really liked but apparently not many others did. I always liked his line, "No brag, just fact".
Other than “Support Your Local Sheriff” playing Bruce Dern’s not so bright Dad, it’s gotta be “The Westerner”. Gary Cooper plays a saddle tramp, Walter Brennan was Judge Roy Bean.
Truth be told, I can’t think of any movie Brennan was in that I didn’t like.
He was always great in everything I’ve ever seen him in.
7mm
Its pretty cool he faked a limp to differentiate himself from other actors
The TV show The Real Mcoys was on last night.
That was popular in our house when I was a kid.
Just started watching Rio Lobo here.

I’m just trying to stimulate the neurons of the over 75 crowd, make them feel like they could post on something they can relate to.

He was a great actor. From Lynn, Massachusetts. Never lost the accent!
I liked him a lot, was in many good movies!
He starred with Jimmy Stewart (my all-time favorite) in "The Far Country".
WW1 Vet. He got gassed by the Krauts which affected his vocal cords and gave him his unique voice.
I liked him a lot, was in many good movies!
I agree!
"OL STUMPY" With John Wayne!
Thinking it was Rio Bravo!
How about “Northwest Passage”? He was younger and was one of Rogers Rangers men. Couple of other well known actors in the film. I think it was Spencer Tracy and Robert Young if I recall correctly..great movie.
