How many of you have bought your teenage kid a handgun and let them have free access to it.

I did, back in the late 1970's. We were very active in handgun metallic silhouette and between us went through over 1,000 rounds a month. He had his own guns plus free access to mine, never the slightest problem.

Times were different then.

It's almost as if the socialist run schools might have something to do with it.

Nope, bought him one after he got out of the navy

I haven't done that, but I can leave a gun out and my kids will not touch it without permission.

My grandparents bought me a 7 and 1/2” Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 magnum for my 16th birthday in 1977. I still have it.

Different time for sure. Nothing was ever locked up at the house, hell the doors stayed unlocked most of the time if we weren’t at the cabin. Us boys never messed with them, we knew better.

I bought my youngest son a Colt AR HBAR that CDNN was blowing when he was 15 (he's 22 now). He paid me back $100/month and it resided in his closet.

Just be careful guys...the internet is permanent and if you admit to something that is in any way able to be twisted to be illegal in some place or time...

Once noted at a former collegemate's ranch home at the number of loaded arms about. His response was "it's not a concern as the kids (2) had been instructed not to touch them." Two years later daughter found her 10-year-old brother dead in mom and dad's bedroom. The marriage did not survive. I like to think Cookie and I raised a trustworthy son. I have learned, however, that the phase "not my child" is a bit risky to employ.

Have no children, but lots of nieces and nephews I’ve given guns. They are all grown and have graduated from College, have good jobs, and have never shot anyone.

Bought my first handgun when I was 13. A Colt Frontier Scout I bought at a local Pawn Shop / Gun Store owned by a local Policeman. Mom had to fill out the paperwork, of course.
Bought several more handguns by the time I was in HS.

It 100% depends on the teenager. I had access to all my Dad's guns, and so did most of my friends. Not one of us pledged our souls to Satan and wanted to murder groups of innocent people. The Idiots in Michigan knew their little angel was demented and had serious mental problems, and bought him a combat handgun and showed him how to use it.

no. and i kept all my guns locked up that weren't for defense. i remember what it was like to be a kid.

All my kids had loaded guns in their rooms growing up. I taught them to never take your safety for granted. My daughter is a school teacher there's a school sponsored program for the teachers to be trained and certified to carry in the classroom.

Hell we shot rifles under the HS gym in the basement (50 ft .22 rf range ).

Odd how people I worked with at the factory didn't want their teenage kids to have a gun. But birth control and a new car at 16 and turn em loose.

IMHO if your kid can't be trusted w a gun they can't be trusted w a car either.

Meh….. guns are like whatever in this home.

Bought my kid a browning buckmark at 12 years old. [bleep], it’s hard to get him to touch
a ratchet and socket so he can change the oil on his dirt bike.

My mother bought me a .22 s&w semi auto when I was 16. Run the roads with it, always had stuffed in back pocket while out in fields or strange places walking for arrowheads.

When I was in high school, my dad was the police chief in our tiny town. Had no police station, records were kept in cardboard file boxes under the dining room table, and the revolvers were stored in mom's linen closet. And yes, I had my own H&R Topper . 22 in my room.

Daughter has had a Ruger MK I since she was about 7. I taught her gun safety at a very young age.

Gave my little sister a revolver when she got her first apartment. It was 1981. She was 21 years old. I was living in So. Texas, 500 miles away. Tragically she committed suicide with it.

I have 3 daughters and bought 2 of them 38 cal. S&W revolvers, 3".

The youngest is the most active shooter and I built her a Commander sized 1911 .45acp using Fusion and Caspian parts. Briley barrel. Officer sized frame for her smaller hands.

We all love Dove Hunting and I've custom personalized 28ga 1100's for all of them.
