This dog showed up on my property right after Thanksgiving. She had a collar with no information that was about 3 holes too tight. I had to cut it off with tin snips because I couldn't get my fingers under it..

Week 1 and 2: Posted "found dog" all over the interwebs, local vets, animal control, shelters, yadda, yadda.... Nothing.
Week 3: Your loss is my gain (unless your unit of measure is money). The second my foot crosses the vet's threshold the dog becomes my property. Spent around 300 bucks at the vet - chip scan, ear infections, worms, etc. 96lbs with bones sticking out all over. She had plastic in her stool from raiding garbage to survive.
Week 4: Another 600 dollar card swipe - spay, deep clean the ears, microchip, heartworm prevention, bal-bla, bla....

I think this dog is an Anatolian or some mix thereof. She kind of looks like one and she definitely behaves like one. We hit her pretty hard in the beginning with all the worm treatments, flea/tick meds and spay surgery but she's already leveled out at what I think is her fighting weight of 130lbs.

Any ideas from the group?

The head most certainly looks like it could be Anatolian to me.

We have an Anatolian. Best, smartest dog I've ever owned. Lilly is about 120 lbs. Got her first snow this week.

This.
If you get curious enough you can get her dna ran and find out for sure. I think it’s about $100
We have two Anatolians, and their heads and hair are different from the dog in your picture. Of course, her hair may fill out and improve over time. She certainly could have some Anatolian in her though. Like Danes they tend to be gentle giants. A neighbor's 5 year old pushed his way under our fence, and when my wife saw him he was being escorted around the yard with an Anatolian close on each side. You could just make out the top of his head between them, but he was getting some serious TLC from those dogs.

They are also very protective of our 1 year old granddaughter.

Good for you both, looks like you’ll have a very loyal new friend!
Man what a great outcome. Congratulations and thanks.
What an adorable girl. I think she's already family. Probably never had so much house time in her life.

Hair is very golden retreiver- like. Heavy undercoat. She prefers to be outside and moves from spot to spot keeping an eye on things. The vet said no more than 3 years.

All of ours carry that tail curled up tight like that.

It took 3 weeks to train my GSP on the e-fence. It took this one 3 days.

She *HATES* cats.
Good on ya'

I'd almost bet she was tied to something with that collar when younger, no one ever checked it for size, got little care, and she either broke off or they didn't clip her back on the rope well.

SO happy she found your place.

Best post I've read so far today.

Overall lines and coloration suggest the Anatolian. Something different in the head, eyes, and coat

Spectacular dog, and beautiful.
Just a little jealous here.

Have you spent time with her in public places, and around other dogs? Your comments on the collar you found on her kinda suggest a neglectful, if not abusive background. I'm curious as to how she responds to people and animals. Besides cats...
Love it !

Congratulations.
Great story!

Good on you for taking her in and giving her a chance at a real home.

She was definitely exposed to some level of physical abuse, Im pretty sure by a man in her past life because she pretty much has bonded to my wife. She had submissive urination when I approached her too fast and once when I was putting my coat on she jumped back and cowered when I put my arm in the sleeve. She had food guarding issues too but now her and my 2 GSPs eat together no problem. My male GSP is a rescue also and had serious guarding issues.

Shes so far very friendly to people and other dogs. Actually friendly isnt accurate, she kind of gives them a once over then ignores them. But I dont know what she will do if my wife or I arent here so we keep her inside when we're not home.

Shes fast. Probably close to twice as fast as my GSPs, but she cant outmanuever them.

I’m glad you rescued her and tuned her up.
Bless you for taking care of her and giving her a home.
Does it bark all night? Yeah..has Anatolian in it. Doesn’t look pure bred but definitely looks like ours that 3/4 Anatolian 1/4 Pyrenees.
Great Livestock guard dogs!
And thank you for taking in!
