The ol' John Deere was not happy.
Barely got her going.
Can't recall ever noticing smoke rings?
VIDEO
Maybe its me, it wont play Less I got banned from youtube
How cold is it Sam? You guys ever plug them in?
Hmmmmm I'll have to fiddle around when I get stopped.
Quite common to those of us accustomed to running old schit.
My old Tai-Shin tractor did the smoke rings every time I started it below 20 degrees
Anything?
It comes up as a short.

I watched it fine in the OP. I am kind of a big deal though.....

Same.
What weight oil are you using Sam? I feel sorry for diesels that have to be started in cold weather. They like heat, up to a point. I'm running Rotella T6 5-40 in my snow plowing tractor and diesel UTV. Speaking of that, diesel oil, especially T6 is hard to find around here. Prices are up too! Thanks Brandon, you dumb ass!
Pretty cold, outside smoking today !
Almost enough, to make a guy think about quitting.
But you do have "Sunny Conditions"
Video worked for me too. Fortunately not that cold here. Only in the 20's (*F) this morning. But, that JD sounds pretty close to my old M-F when I do start it on cold mornings. I'll check for smoke rings next time.

Canuck degrees or freedom degrees?
Asking for me.
😁

Same. I believe you anyway Sam. Smoke rings err something
Neighbor had an old 70 JD that would blow smoke rings when it pulled hard, That was back in the late 50's or early 60's. miles

Cannucker *, meat head !
Sheesh
Hold into the ring
& it was only freedom degrees, under Trump !
The smoke rings were cool! You'd not have gotten those on a windy day.
Thought for sure this was gonna be about beer !
Contractor I worked for a long time ago had a Cat D5 that would blow smoke rings starting on a cold day. Took about a whole can of ether to get that bitch running in the winter.
Had to change browser view to desktop from mobile to watch it. Like a chugabug train.
A terminal manager once told me that smoke rings could be from a bad injector. Not sure he wasn't talking about a warmer engine, though.
Video plays ok now Sorry I didnt get back to you. I been busy searching other websites where Barnabus and Happy Camper have accounts on LOL
Cannucker *, meat head ! Admission? 🤣

How’d that work out? 😉
I know it's fine but I grit my teeth when I hear any diesel "hammering" like that. Hearing any of the newer stuff will make you think the old stuff is gonna kersplode at any second
How cold is it Sam? You guys ever plug them in?
Stone, it was -20F this morning. Tractor was plugged in all night.
We rarely use that machine when it's cold as it has always been a hard starter.
Only reason we ran it today was to feed a hay grinder.
It takes two tractors to keep up. My dad was running a JD 7510 and my 7610 is hooked up to a processor so the old 4450 got the call.
Today was probably the last time I'll run it as we recently traded it off. Replacement tractor isn't here yet.
Quite common to those of us accustomed to running old schit.
Jim, I just can't recall our old 4250 or this 4450 ever doing it?
Hell if I know.
wow! I feel bad starting the old tractors when it dips below 30. I know, I know, soft CA guys.........

Anson, that machine has 15w-40 in it.
Our other year round use tractors and pickups all have T6 5w-40.
Well crap, thread title had me thinking this going to be about beer...
That's cool. Never seen that before.
Sorry about the semi misleading title.
I also am a fan of the liquid Cold Smoke, they will buzz your ass quick....lol
I still can't remember ever seeing the engine induced smoke rings.
Side note, it's 50 degrees warmer out now than yesterday.
Which is good because I feel like absolute chit and don't feel like getting off of this damn couch...lol
We fired up the old Cat 944 late one afternoon, and it looked like you could walk on the black smoke.
thought this was about making bacon.
Sam, I’d never noticed any either, but was in WY this week and fired up the JD we use to feed. It coughed and sputtered for a minute, but then threw some smoke rings and lit off. Thought it was really cool. Tried to catch it on video the next day but the wind was way too bad.
Old shìtty John Deere don't even make enough power to flow exhaust properly.
Seems I can recall 70's/80's carb'd gas pickups w/smaller maybe 2" single exhaust throwing smoke rings in the cold.

I thought it was about cheese.
I thought this was about getting high at the bus stop on a frosty morning before heading out to Chainsaw College
And here I thought you were talking about Cold Smoke Scotch Ale.
Wait! I thought this thread was going to be about the scotch ale from Kettlehouse Brewing Company. Never mind.

I thought he was asking if you like ice in your bong.
Gotta be careful..

Not a good air fuel mix due to to the cold. Pulling tractors do that a lot at the start due to so much fuel being delivered & no air boost at low rpm & low cylinder temps.
