I remember Elmer Keith writing in "Hell I Was There" about how RR Inspectors would shoot hobos just for trespassing. How far we have fallen!

I lightly bumped an underpass on the old Sante Fe with an excavator some years back. I bumped the underpass at about 1 mph, didn't like it and backed up and parked and started to map a different route. The schidt hit the fan, in ten minutes, I had a Suburban full of armed railroad dicks all over my ass, accusing me of sabotage, terrorism, un American activities, train robbery etc. They searched the tractor, looking for bombs I suppose, handled the fire extinguisher like it was a plutonium bomb. Sheesh, what a bunch of Barney Fife wannabes.

The railroad certainly has some real jerks working for them. We recently took to shipping by flatbed to avoid dealing with them.

RR's have more power/protection than any other industry I know of.

Lucky you're not still in prison - awaiting terrorism charges.
And, maybe, treason charges. (Since you're an American "citizen")
