I found an open package of bacon in my refrigerator. How long does an open package of bacon last in the refrigerator - a week, or more? I think my open package is about 3 weeks old and I hate to waste it.

That's why God gave us a sniffer.

As long as it isn't slimy or smelly it's good with me.

Yeah, it will get slimy before it gets smelly. Check the feel.

Same here.

If in doubt I fry it extra crispy.

If you can easily scrape all the green off with a butter knife it’s okay. It’s when it starts getting green down below the surface you have to save it to go in the chili.

If it’s cured it should be fine…..

God gave us brains too.

That's why I open stuff that's questionable under my wife's nose.

Hell I didn't know it was possible for a package of bacon to last 3 weeks.
Posted By: High_Noon Re: Quick Bacon Question - 01/22/22
I doesn't smell quite right - a bit slimy as well. I probably should toss it.

I would have eaten it all, but it got pushed to the back of the fridge and disappeared for a while.

Thanks for the info.

For future reference, the same applies to a yeast infection.

What are you planning on serving? E-coli pork? It’s $4/lb here. Toss it and go get another package.

Are we still talking bacon, or hookers?

Lessee. 120# hooker at $4/lb is $480. Looks like it works either way. 👍

Used to have a Kansas City work release crew they let out in the morning and came back on the same bus about 3:30 PM. They were sent state sack lunches and the meat was green. The stuff came in on the truck green. I don't know how they ate it. Those crews are long gone now and also the green bologna. It sure is a surreal place to work, in Misery's Prison system. Be Well.
