Some of you guys had to be pinball players at some point in your early years, at the drugstore or the corner filling station.

Anyone still play?

The art on some of them is pretty cool if you're into things like that.

Just uncrated this one.

Great sound system as well as a high definition screen embedded behind the back glass.

You get full concert videos, if you hit the right targets.

Never did like pinball much.

I was never very good at arcade games.

There was one game in town that I could beat every time though. It took a bunch of quarters from me before that however.

I am attempting to win a free game on my GnR machine, learning curve, lots of distraction.

This bad boy is loud!

I have all my machines set on 'free play' no quarters needed.

Me either, but I threw a schit load of quarters at the early ‘space invaders’ game by Atari until I finally mastered it. Well a schit load of quarters and BEER!

I have always wanted to find a pac man or Mario Bros game.

Also...enough money to build a room for a pool table or ping pong or something.

Kind of a rec room.

I really don't know, these are in a house I use as a office I haven't been to in a year or so.

I got a few others else where.

Just sold 3 of those Guns N Roses machines, I bought 4 when they first came out. Never uncrated any of them until this weekend.
Sold the 3 still crated. Only 500 made, tuff to find one for sale.

You can pretty much get whatever ya want outta one.

Pin collectors are nuts, there is money to be made in the old and the new.

Oh heck yeah.

The great ones target collectors with limited edition releases.
The new features are right up to date.

Had a few people over to play this weekend while I was in town.
It was funny, the 50 and over crowd went straight for the newer machines, I'd figured they'd be more into the vintage stuff.

My sister's 20 year old son started out lost on how to play, didn't know there were flipper buttons on the sides.
Being a avid gamer, once he got it figured he set high score on a couple of the pins.

I started this post speaking of my new Guns N Roses pin and posted the following short video.

This was just released in 2020

It'll sell between 15 to 20 depending on condition.

Release price was 12.5, I reserved 4, all 500 made were sold before they were released to collector's.

I sat on them crated for a year then listed 3 for 17.5 in the crate.
They sold in few weeks.

So I'm up 2.5 and gotta free machine outta the deal.
Mine is signed by the band, I'll sell it when I can get 30.

UPDATE

Just looked up that 11.5K machine on EBay.

It might not go a lot higher, it a LE edition, they don't have all the cool trim out features.
Mine are CE models aka collectors edition.
They come with all the nifty trim.

Just the skull and 45 caliber GnR ball release rod cost $750.00 as a add on item.
It'd cost ya 5 grand to try and dress out a LE to look like a CE model and even at that it still wouldn't have the value of a original factory CE machine..

I came here trying to get motivated.
This house is 120 miles from where I am currently living.

I need to sell it but it's a 4 bedroom 3 bath two story with a 4 car garage and I've stuffed it full of crap.

I gotta empty it.

A friend and I invested in numerous homes in this area on the crash in 2009.
We flipped a few and got everything paid for but burned out and left a dozen homes sitting.

Been selling two a year to keep taxes at bay, don't wanna move to many a year.

I'm into this place for 25K, probably cost me 50 to 75 to bring it to market.

Listed another one we had here at the first of the year for stupid money and it went under contract in the first 24 Hours for full asking price, this place is next on the list, the markets gone crazy here.

This is the one we just sold, picked it up in 09 also.

That's quite a collection you have there. Do you do refurbs too? I used to play some back in the day. Then got into foosball in college. Haven't done either one in years. A friend of mine had one of those bowling machines for a while, but it needed some work and I didn't have time to fix it. He needed some cash and sold it long ago. I never got into video games. Guess it is a generational thing.

I can keep up with relay issues and lights and such but there are some really good guys that do complete refurbishment.

It's the painting that's key, it's gotta simulate the original work or you just render the machine worthless.

Some of the guys that are really good at it like to barter and trade for parts or a old machine, I usually try to do that rather than pay a cash rate.

Original backglasses like I have hanging on the walls over my pins are a highly collectable trade item.

Obviously you are dailed in...

Just a thought that many never actually consider... I have sold RE "Investors ONLY, Cash sale ONLY" and done quite well.

Lots of folks out their hustling the "headroom profit."

Good luck.

We relocated... couple of houses to sell (I also sell houses for a profit).

$250k invested on one and needed "85k to bring it to market" (i.e. pass lender's inspection and appraisal et al) Sold it at $415k for cash and closed in 11 days by cell phone in my living room. Buyer put his lipstick on that pig and resold it at $520k 45 days later.

If interest rates tick up from 2.8% to 5%... the market drops and the selling price as well... these are just opinions.

Have another one to cut loose $350k (again no good on passing lender's inspection and appraisal et al)... I have some GC friends that will do a "Headroom Contract" with me... they do whatever improvement they want to the house and property (6 acre horse farm next to Quantico USMC). The have a blank slate to improve the property (new doors and windows, new HVAC... OR NOT... whatever they want to do to bring the house to market... 100% on them). Once the property is "ready to hit the market" I list it... It sells at $550k+/- and I get my $350k and they get their "Headroom" between $350k and $550k... or more if they go crazy of carve off extra lots etc.

That kinda thing...

Sorry I was nor clear beforehand.

Posted By: JeffA Re: Games People Play - 02/14/22
Guess I'm more of a retailer than a wholesaler.

If you checked out the listing I posted you've seen in the property history where I purchased in 09.
It took another 60k to get it in condition to tap dance through any home inspection.
You can also see from the listing that I'm about 250K over comparable comps in the area.

Buyers dependant on loan institutions are pretty much nixed out of my pricing structure anyway.
.
I've never been one to leave money on the table.
Posted By: rem141r Re: Games People Play - 02/14/22
use to spend a lot of time playing pinball back in my yute. it was really the only game i enjoyed or was decent at. if i had the room, i would buy a vintage machine. i worked with a guy whose hobby was buying and fixing old arcade games. he had a warehouse full. from what i gathered you can get them for very cheap as long as they are not rare. especially if they are broken.

Ya outta get one rem,
You can find a working machine for 3 or 4 hundred.

With as little as a Cresent wrench and a screwdriver you can remove the scoreboard and the legs and you can get one in the backseat of a car for transport.

Last night I had a half dozen people 50+ years of age here playing the pins hooting and hollering like a bunch of kids.

They had a blast. Nobody even took time out to have a drink.

Lots of differences between that LE and CE Guns n Roses machines.
About the same as the differences between a Firebird and a TransAm.
