Nice!
I’d like one just like that, and if I saw it for that price I’d have snagged it too.
Interesting.
Never knew they built them in .222
Thumbs up here

He steered you right.
It's always cool when you find something you have been looking for.
And it sure as fugg aint part of the equation being a buyer by educating a seller.
Nice score man!!!
👍👍👍
Excellent find and price!
Sweet! I have a 788 in 222 myself. Fun cartridge to reload for.
With a price like that it makes ya wonder if it was his to sell, ya got a real nice buy there.

He always has a table full of guns mostly Remingtons and Weatherby’s. So probably traded into it who knows. I did see a Remington 700 BDL in a 222 their as well for $625. Up here in the land of cold and beaver skins 222 aren’t that popular with the white eyes. Now the natives love them some 222 and 223’s.
I have a .222 in the form of an Anschutz 1740 Classic.
It shoots really well and is GTG for ground hogs on Mr. Miller's dairy farm.
Great catch. That would make a good walking varmint gun.
That’s a good deal. There’s one in a pawn shop in Palestine for $850 I think. Prices around here are insane. Ruger American 223 for $850. Savage Axis for $750.

I’ve a 70’s bdl so chambered, but have long lusted for a carbine such as you purchased. Handy sumbich there. If you decide you don’t like it let me know.
I hope the scope is still good… I guess the closet thing to the scopechief would be a bushnell banner??
Great snag considering there's one up on Guns International right now just likes this one for 1700...

The older ScopeChief IV was top of the line, the Banner was their budget priced scope.

I had one in 6.5 rem mag and another in 308.
Had
Had
Yes sometimes stupid.
Who says you can’t find deals at gun shows anymore..
Yep, buddy called me yesterday, he's been looking for a Semi-auto 20 youth for his girlfriend:
"I'm @ a gun show, What do you think about a Syn stocked Beretta 390 20Ga youth for $525?"
Me:
"Hang up, go back to the table immediately and give him the $$ before someone else sees it."
Calls back:
"The guy let me have it for $490, it's all the cash I had on me."
will never get rid of mine.....
I'd like to find one vent barrel in 243.
Wonder if this will thread push VarmintGuy off the wagon.
I'd like to find one vent barrel in 243.
Have one that started that way. Rebarreled to 22-250ai then Sami 22-250 and McMillan stock. Love that gun. If I got my paws on a .222 I’d bed and float it and go from there.
I saw a beat up 600 Mohawk in 243 at a gun show yesterday for $650

To late he already snagged a nice Remy 700 in 30-06...

Set a rifle on a gun show table marked $650.
Dude came by and we haggled down to $575.
Came back later and handed me a fist full of cash. I counted $550.
Thanks but no, you're $25 short!
Guy grabs his cash and walks off.
Got the gun home and checked value on the internet!
YIKES! Glad the guy walked off! Same gun valued at a solid $1G!!!! 🤯
79S: Good for you on the super cool and great condition Remington!
And good for you on what I think was an excellent price!
That is a keeper.
I hope it shoots as good as it looks.
Mr. TooDogs & GRIZZ: I have already "fallen" once!
And I am now 13 days into my second bout of abstinence/rehabilitation for "gun-nuttiness".
I do say though, if I had come across that nifty Model 600 I would have had to jump on it also.
There are just to many enticements out there.
Again, come on Big Green, somehow get back to your glory days!
The 222 Remington is one of the top 5 (five!) cartridges of all time - in my opinion/experience!
Long live "the Deuce".
Hold into the wind

I was a wee lad when they came out and was not yet hunting. For some reason, I wanted one in .350 Magnum so bad.
I never got one and given availability of the .350 mag, I doubt I would.
I went ahead and made do with a Wichester M94 in .30-30, which I still have and has put numerous deer in the cooler. Probably just as well.
That's a nice find ya got there, and .222 was the first cf cartridge I ever fired.
Love the 600 action! I believe it's one of Remington's best!

Got one in .308 that I'll never sell.Great deer rifle, but it's a vicious little beast!

About 6 weeks to go. 😉🤣
What was the advantage of the 600. Always thought they were funky. What was remingtons selling point
They are great in the brush. They don't hang up. They have pretty decent barrels. 600s and 660s are great for shooting offhand. I have a soft spot for them.
i have its much bigger brother, the 350. i'd a bought that 222 in a heartbeat. FYI, they had a recall many years ago to correct a problem of the gun going off when you take the safety off if you pulled the trigger with the safe on. you can tell if it was factory modified by looking at the trigger guard. i had mine repaired by remington for free. some folks think that devalued it but i do not care. here is some info.

I saw one in a pawn shop in Tuscan about 4 years ago. The stock looked like death warmed over the there was freckles of rust on it but It appeared to be restorable. They wanted $700 for the gun. I said no thanks and left it there. I sometimes wonder if I made a good decision. If it wasn't for the fact I was going to have to pay for shipping as well I considered trying to talk the guy down. It was a unique rifle with that crooked bolt handle and all.
kwg
Have a similar looking unit in 6mm purchased about the same time for $99.00. Excellent trigger. Been usurped by Cookie as her dedicated deer/pronghorn unit.
My first centerfire rifle was a 660 in .222
Let a clean .243 one pass last yr, saw it at show, a little high but very clean.
Oops.
Had a 600 Mowhawk in .243. i perfer tje 20" bbl of the 660s.
I got a 600 in 350 Rem Mag, a Colt Trooper, and a Winchester Model 12 at a garage sale for $750 combined.
Not knowing anything besides I thought the 600 was ugly, I sold it to an old timer for $300 and thought I made out like a bandit.....
will never get rid of mine.....
Nice gun! I recently came into a Mohawk I’d like to put a new, lighter stock on…what is this one sitting in?
Guess they no longer sell them for this model
I gave $225 for mine. It was a few years ago. I have a .223 barrel on it right now. My 222 barrels were getting long in the tooth. I just got tired of 14 twist.
I was at a gun show yesterday looking for Original Python grips and 405 ammo( found neither). All of a sudden i see a bunch of Savage 1899/99s on a table. I look down and theres an all original numbers matching 1899 A made in 1909 with a Lyman tang sight in 38-55! Nervously I ask the owner if i can look down the bore. He says yep heres a bore light. Couldnt believe it was about an 8 or 9! Now i know I cant set it down. So when the dust settled I walked out the door with it for 1550. On my way out of the show 3 guys asked me what caliber was it in? I told em 38-55 and they all said will you sell it?? I said NO. I had no intention of buying an 1899 but the only other one i saw in that caliber 10 years ago was beat/altered bad and the guy wanted 2 grand.
I had one just like yours. I could kick myself for ever letting it go.
Nice find, I just saw one of these last week in a shop for $900 (also a .222). Another shop has a Model 7 in .222, listed for $1200.
