Slavyanka just got a text from her best friend’s mother that there is shooting in Sumy region (where they live), about 40km from the Russian border. Her friend is here in Canada.

I’m surprised. Sumy is about 500 km north of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Expected the first incursion to be in support of those separatists.

But, as they say, expect the unexpected.

Whatever Ukraine produces will be sold on the international market by either Russia or Ukraine. Oil and wheat are commodities and I would imagine that once they are exported they will sell for market price.

Yup. That would calm markets. Putin is going to own the billions in US weapons and technology we gave Ukraine just like the Taliban did in Afghanistan.

Wasn’t just the neocons, it was the Dems as well. A smarter solution would have been to deny Ukrainian entry to NATO in return for guarantee of Ukranian security from Russia. There is no reason Ukraine couldn’t have been something like Finland and lived peacably with their big neighbor next door.

We did Ukraine a disservice. We weren’t going to, and shouldn’t have, gone to war for them, but Russia was going to fight if they didn’t give up joining NATO. So now they will not be in NATO and they are going to be a lot less independent. Seems like a pretty big miscalculation. And we just pushed Russia to the real enemy - China. This isn’t 1972.

It would have been treasonous for Putin to allow NATO to cut off Russia’s access to its only warm water port. And we shouldn’t have tried. We were poking the bear. And let’s not forget the US has this thing called the Monroe Doctrine, whereby we don’t allow foreign powers to mess around in the western HEMISPHERE.

That's how I see it too. I think it is also wise to prepare for the next shoe to drop, China. China would love to see us get sucked into the Ukraine problem making it even easier to do their thing. China will make a move soon.

What will hurt in the longer term is what Russia gains in resources and food production if they take Ukraine without big losses. Putin will not live or rule forever. He could have problems at home when the bodies return. Trump had the right idea, to keep talking to Putin and away from China long enough till change could happen in Russia. We have more in common with Russia than China.

We have time to be prepared for the worst and should not waste it. We don't have to use it, but it is wise to have it than not.

Unfortunately, we have biden and subversion going on here in the homeland.

China and Mexico are the 2 countries I distrust far more then Russia.

Putin may be a bad-actor but he may not be too. Our media is now less honest then Russia's Pravda, and that no exaggeration.

So all we think we know about the events in Ukraine are coming from the pit of lies we call our "news" But if we look at overt harm and invasion that is covered up by the media in the USA the 2 countries that are behind most of it are Mexico and China. Mexico outfits invasion of the USA all the time and need no military to do it because of US politicians. (75% Republicans and 100% Democrats) And China has invaded several islands and taken them from Japan (not covered by out news) and yet that ally is just told to "suck it up" and nothing was done except by Clinton and later Obama giving China "most favored trade status".

So remember.......the objective of war is not battle.
It's victory.

Because the US politicians are largely Pro-Socialist (in direct contradiction to the oath of office) and the news media is largely also, we will not hear about any communist threats....except the ones the cut the money off from the Clinton's, Obama and the Biden's.
THEN it's "communist aggression".

But Russia is not as communist as Ukraine these days, so that's not covered by the politicians or our "news" media ------------- is it?


I DON'T KNOW exactly what is going on in Ukraine and neither does anyone else that gets their information from our "news media" What I DO KNOW is that out mainstream media are so dishonest it's idiot to believe ANYTHING they say. The very best of it is about 1/2 true and the rest is outright lies.

What I think is sad is that Putin is doing what the USA should have been doing to Mexico for the last 30 years. He claims to be defending Russia, but we should be defending Texas, New Texaco, Arizona and California as well as rounding up all the invaders under pain of death and shipping them back to Mexico. (no matter what country they are truly from..........send 100% of them to Mexico. If not, send them to Venezuela.)
