Rarely ever drink a “coke” anymore. Most Texans call any soft drink a “coke”. 🤠
Much rather have ice water or iced tea.
When I do want one, I stop by Sonic for a Large Dr Pepper with lots of ice.
The only soft drink I’ll drink out of any kind of bottle is original Coke in the small glass bottles or Dr Pepper with pure cane sugar made over in Dublin, TX. In a glass bottle, of course.
Drinking a soda out of a plastic bottle just st ruins the taste for me.
Can remember when Pepsi acquired the flavor & it was distributed on a large scale, 1964 according to Wiki. Liked it after getting over the shock of tasting something besides cola or orange soda.
Always bottled then, & the big fun was reading the bottle as it had bottled by; some examples... Cousin Jeb & Essie, Hoss & Peggy Sue, etc.
When I would visit Thailand regularly, I found that the Brits loved it with their beer. I believe they called it a sort of "poor man's" Shanty. Could not stand the stuff so used Sprite instead. Great on a hot day at the golf course...
Took a sip of the flaming hot Dew my son bought the other day, I don't drink sodas but I thought it wasn't bad, even though it wasn't really that hot.

You can get Mexican Coke at HEB, they are made with pure cane sugar.

Drank my first Mountain Dew in a trail ways bus station in billings Montana in 1965. Still grab one now and again. Slogin was Yahoo MT dew with a hillbilly kicked back on a 10 oz bottle
Love it. Wife won't drink coffee, Mt Dew might have kept us alive in our team trucking days. I know coffee kept me going.
Anyone remember Jolt? That was da schitzzzzz. So sweet it was syruppy. "All the sugar, twice the caffeine!" Stuff sucked, but it would keep you awake. Didn't make you pant like a dog with your heart thumping your ribs like Stingers, Yelloiw Jackets, or 357s from the truckstop pharmacy either.
Sheetz has Mt Dew slushies, a new c-store on my way to work opens tomorrow, I might see if they have them.
It's too sweet for me. I like Ale 8 better. It's a regional drink from the middle of Kentucky. Ale 8 isn't as sweet or strong, but has a similar taste.....it has to be ice cold!
Drank at least 1/day for a long dang time until 3 months ago. Had a heart attack and decided it was one of the items that needed to go. I'll have a Sprite on occasion. Only caffeine I have now is 1 cup of coffee in the morning at work. Lost 15 lbs in the first 3 weeks after quitting.
Muskegman - my breakfast of champions was a cup of coffee and a cigarette. Gave up the smoking also after the attack.
Our 19 year old daughter has never tolerated it well. At about 4 I gave her the last 1/4 of a bottle, "Mamma, wantaseemeruntothegarden?" Whoosh, whoosh, "Daddy, wannaseemeruntotheappletree?" Whoosh, whoosh. "Momma, wanna...."
We stayed out in the yard until the poor kid ran completely out of gas. After that "No more Dew!"
Evidently, it hasn't changed. Last weekend she and her boyfriend were out with friends, she got tired and bought a bottle. After about half of it, her mouth started running, her botfriend told me "I could hear you telling the story of her as a kid". He confiscated the stuff and got her a Sprite.
I’m a diabetic, so I drink Mt. Dew Zero Sugar. I used to love Coke Zero, but after the All Star game fiasco I swore off Coke products. Mt. Dew Code Red Zero is great, but harder to find now than RL-26.

They have a cherry flavor of Ale 8 now. It is gross. Tastes exactly like that sore throat spray they used to make that would numb your throat.
I used to drink it when I was a kid when it was made with sugar. There was a store close that had one of those chest coke machines and he kept the temp set so that when you opened the bottle the Mt Dews would change to slush. They were good on a hot day.
Tried one for the first time today, was not impressed. Does anyone here like it ?
If you mix Mountain Dew with any cheap whiskey it becomes very drinkable. Pretty much every mental case I ever dealt with had a big bottle of Mountain Dew for breakfast. I can't think of one exception.
I don't remember what company tried to market a soft drink called Quirst. It was a similar flavor as Squirt. But it started a law suit because it used the same letters as Squirt. I'm not sure either who made Squirt, but the lawsuit ended the Quirst brand.
I love the caffeine and sweetness (when I want the sweetness like when I’m exercising in the heat) but generally drink a cup or two of black coffee in the morning and water the rest of the day.
My dentist and big pharma would certainly prefer I drink the Dew…
Back when I was young, dinosaurs roamed the Earth, and Mt. Dew first came out. At the time, the bottles all stated "Bottled by Tex and the Boys", or some such. Do they still say that? (Is it even available in glass bottles?)
The original energy drink..........I remember when it first cam out. I can't do full sugar sodas any more. Diet Mt Dew has a bit too much caffeine for me . I like the flavor, just not the jitters. I do drink a couple diet Pepsi's every day. Don't like coffee at all.
I don't drink "pop" but when I did it was Mug root beer.
Does anybody know why soda got the slang term " POP " ?
Soda got the term pop because when someone would open a glass bottle by removing the bottle cap with a bottle opener, because of the co2 gas ( carbonation ) pressure, it would make a popping noise. The warmer it was, the louder the pop.
Sundrop? I can’t believe some of you guys have even heard of it.
I hauled and unloaded thousands of cases of Sundrop when I worked for the bottler in Gastonia, NC. We were the largest Sundrop distributor in the US. Glass bottles and wooden crates were still used in the 70s when I first started. Nothing better than an ice cold Sundrop, made with real sugar, out of a glass bottle, straight off the production line.
Nowadays I can’t handle all the caffeine in it and have switched over to Mountain Dew but only every now and then.
Sundrop is the best drink out there, and I live in the heart of Cheerwine country. Cheerwine is certainly a strong 2nd!
Sounds like you’re up around Salisbury. We also sold a lot of Cheerwine. When I started we also sold Nugrape, real Orange Crush in the brown bottle, Double Cola, RC cola and others which are long gone.

Yep, Rowan County. Cheerwine festival is next Saturday. I’m sure we will be there. I hope Cheerwine never sells out to the big guys.
Mountain Dew is a breakfast drink, it has orange juice in it. Pour a little in your juice to spruce it up a little. When it first came out it had orange pulp floating in it. Ya I know, it's not too good for you.

Got a small town bottler up here in Shawano Wi (pronounced Shawn-oh) that distributes Sun Drop in glass bottles and cans... I buy the cans... For whatever reason, It seems to taste better and has more fizz than the bottles...
Mountain Dew, with $2.7 billion in annual sales, ranks No. 6 in popularity in the nation, behind Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola, Diet Coke, Dr Pepper and Diet Pepsi.

If you go down the road a bit to Clintonville, Wi., that's about all the bars serve is Sun Drop. Pepsi and Coke are like foreign sodas.
