We buried my father a week ago today. Things will never be the same for me.
I am thankful to have him around this long he lived to be 87.
I can't begin to tell all the things My parents taught me and did to help me.
He was from a generation that was twice as tough than the one I grew up in.
He started me in Hunting and fishing though he never did a lot of it. He was always too busy working on something.
He also instilled in me a love of Firearms and Automobiles.
His quotes pertaining to firearms were these:
"Never sell a gun to buy another one. You nearly always regret it later"
"Guns are great investments, they don't eat and you don't have to pay taxes on them"
I love you Dad and I will miss you very much.
If this link works it is his obituary and has a short slide presentation of some photo's from his life.

My Dad will be 83 in July and he was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Not sure how many years he has left, but it will be tough on him and us. I traveled back home to Big D from El Paso to be with him and I am trying to orchestrate a move back here to be with both folks and help as much as I can.

There is never a good time to lose a parent.
My father drowned in Wabigoon Lake on August 19, about three o'clock in the afternoon.
Good folks always wear a PFD on the water.
I'm very sorry to hear that.
You were blessed to have a father that loved you enough to teach you.

Wow!…I’m so sorry. What an unexpected way to lose someone. Most of us grow up swimming and take our abilities for granted sometimes. As a former rescue diver, lifeguard, marine patrol and firefighter I dealt with enough drownings and near drownings to know that despite my abilities I’m still a warm blooded mammal that’s just as susceptible to the biological responses as everyone else.
My first “real” save was when I was 16 and working as a beach lifeguard during the summers (Memorial Day to Labor Day). A 2 year old girl stepped into deep water and quietly slipped under. I dove in and brought her up to the beach and gave her cyanotic lips 2 quick breaths and external stimuli by rubbing her sternum. On the second breath she vomited her P,B&J….. I was never so happy to clear an airway in my life because that little girl was alive. She was transported, obviously, but was 100% a day later. That moment stirred something that felt good and it led to a career trying to do good for others.
I’m sorry about your dad. How many years ago was that Wabigoon?
Sorry for your family's loss.
Sir, I am sorry for your loss.

Kevin, I am so sorry to learn that your Dad is so ill, and I can read between the lines that you are looking at a distressful period of time. Pancreatic cancer has such a low cure rate, his advanced age will make it even more difficult, and the pain quotient from that type can be high. I know that you are doing everything possible to be the best son and that your effort to relocate may become complex. Please let me know if we can be helpful.
A life well lived!
Prayers for your family's loss.
Sorry for your loss, sir.
How fortunate you were to be raised by a man like him. It is tough to be the older generation without their guidance, however you had an excellent roll model. He served his country, worked hard to raise his family, and loved many things and people. You could see the way his dog looked at him in the pictures, that says a lot. Nothing more could have been asked of him. Well done!
My condolences to you and your family.
Condolences to you and your family.
Sounds like he was a wonderful man.
Sorry for your loss, and my sympathy goes out to you and you family.
Sorry for your loss.
Still miss my folks.
My condolences Sir. I’ll pray for you and your family.
Paraphrasing Proverbs 20:7
A honest father is a wonderful heritage.
Sorry for your loss.
My hat is off on honor of a fine man. Prayers for you and your family.
