Anyone knowledgeable about stuff around the SoCal ocean area.

On the beach, below the cliffs (near the start of them from flat beaches) north of San Diego.

+/- 4' diameter. Concrete, ring shaped, iron/steel straps attached somehow?

Open center to me would appear to be for a piling or such to go through. Maybe some sort of a dock deck weight to pull it back down the pilings after the tide goes back out????

It's a stone life ring.

Throw to a subject made to Walk The Plank, then throw them a stone life ring to make sure the job is done

You can see the remains of the cloth of a pirate shirt in photo 2.

Climate change has caused the sea levels to fall like in Lake Mead revealing evidence of this barbaric practice.

(Check the area closely for gold doubloons.)
I, essentially believe, that they are petrified Dino ignoramus anuses !
Question generator, still seems to be working.
Ima go with moorings.

I will relay that to the person who is trying to find out what they are.

They will be pleased, no doubt.

I thought something similar on first glance.

Maybe there were chains attached to the iron straps for added effect?
Those are interesting.

Funny answers though.

They're probably a California thing. I was hoping some of the West Coast dudes might have seen them before.

Probably wouldn't work on a Carolina beach. whistle

Dolphin or piling anchors, drop a few in a row. Each has it own piling, attached to each other with logs on top! For containing floating merchandise. Hooks are for attaching to other anchors, without piling. Tide and current dictated the needs. Log rafts going from the northwest to ports south, used something similar! Of course this is just my guess!🤔

Makes as much sense as my thoughts of them going around a piling to bring a floating deck down with the tide.
From WWII. footings for making a false sea face to the cliff. Behind the canvas and stucco front, there were artillery units waiting for japanese subs. Go north to SF where they carved away the cliff fronts for the arty installation with the same false front system.

I’ll go with this answer ☝🏽 And only add - it’s quite a find you made, considering I’ve never seen concrete float before.
