You don't get to critique my list without posting your own.

Man, that's tough to rank.

Is an Irish band British enough? If so, Thin Lizzy should fit in there somewhere.
We forgot to add Peter & Gordon……..now added! memtb

Todd knows!
The Yardbirds would be in there, just for the guitarists they attracted/spawned.

The Clash and Queen need to be in there.

I'd like to point out that there is only one (1) verifiable chick (female) in that entire sea of people.
I'll take the Moody Blues before the Police all day...
Def Leppard isn't on anyone's list???? I double checked the tile of the post and it did specify "Rock Bands"
1) The Stones

2) The rest of them
Look up Rock and Roll in the dictionary, this is what you find:

A few thoughts:

You mean “your ten favorite” I expect rather than “top ten”. I’m in no position to say which are in the top ten but I could tell someone which ten I like best. First of all, anyone who denies the Beatles as a group are not in the top ten is telling me they just don’t like their music. Fair enough. Not in the top ten by about any criteria? Impossible.

I liked the ballad-like songs of Chad and Jeremy. I think they’d been bigger yet had Chad Stuart not broken away into acting at the height of their American popularity. Peter and Gordon had a couple of great songs. Gerry and the Pacemakers and a couple from the DC5 (Mike Smith, the keyboard player was a great talent).

Chad Stuart and Gerry (of the PMKers) both passed within the last two years or so.

There are a bunch of groups here who might have been good, even very good, but just didn’t play the kind of music I liked.

Edit: I was in HS 63-67.
Id put the Sisters of Mercy and The Cure on my list.
Not a fan of The Who or the Beatles, and cannot freakin stand Def Leppard.

Sabbath I still listen to off and on.
And Deep Purple.....but Highway Star is beyond horrible.
Hate that tune.

Almost as much as Maidens Run to the Hills.
When they play that pos at concerts im running for beer cussin, and I aint the only one either
