Hershel "Woody" Williams has passed. He was the last living WWII MOH recipient. Woody was not only a hero, but he was also a true patriot and Christian. He will be mised.
Rest in peace Woody Williams ! ! !
Rest in Peace Great Warrior.
One the Greatest Generation. Hasbeen
RIP warrior !
He spoke at a church service I attended several years ago. A truly impressive, yet humble, man. RIP.
Damn, RIP Sir.

I met him once at the Dallas USO on a layover. Super cool dude to talk with.
This is what a real hero looks like, not some over-paid man-child that chases a ball around.
RIP Sir.
Rest easy now , Sir! You are home and have earned your respite!
RIP Sir
We owe everything to men like him. Rest well Warrior.
RIP Sir
Rest easy
RIP sir. A True hero. Watched a program not long ago with him as a guest star. IIRC he donned a replica flame thrower and got to use it as he did in WWII. Can’t recall the show name.
RIP Sir... Last of the WWII MOH Warriors!

Born in Quiet Dell, WV... youngest of 11 children.

A different time...

All things run full circle...

Thanks for posting Dave...
Go rest high on that mountain, warrior.
I watched an interview with Woody a few months ago. He said his brothers were in the army and he liked the marines' uniforms better. He tried to enlist and was told he was too short, so he went back to working on his family's farm. A year or so later the recruiter came to the fame and told Woody the height restriction was waived and asked if he still wanted to enlist. The rest is history.
