Ours starts Thursday night, going to see Midland in Lake Charles, grandkids Friday night, dancing Saturday night, taking boat to lake Sunday, bbq on Monday. I’m tired thinking about all that BS.

What is the rest of the Campfire clan up to??

I’ve never seen Josh Turner, would enjoy seeing him.
I have to chaperone 11 Asians - only 2 of which are women. They are all 20 somethings. I'm gonna take them to an amusement park and drop 'em off.
Work weekend at the camp. Food plots to spray, feeders to fill, trail cams to put up.

Also have 6 rifles to sight in. Been playing around with optics and also rebarrelled one of my AR's.

Thinking hard about cobbling up an AR10 on which to mount a Super Hogster. The hogs are prolific this year.

Going to come home before the mad traffic rush on Monday afternoon.

Wife damn well isn't gonna miss it, especially being a freebie!
Aught to be good.

He be in Houston July 22, May try to go!
I'd like to be in Wabigoon, catchin' fish.
We headed to Winstar Casino in Thackerville OK, our son and his girlfriend will meet us there for a visit. Do some gambling and plenty eating.
Nothing.

Boy leaves the Army this Friday and he's working his way home over the weekend so I'm basically doing nothing until I know he's home. Want to be available to meet somewhere as he passes through town for dinner.
Going to South Dakota to see Rushmore. Never been before. Decided to start spending our money in politically like minded states. Told my wife no more California.

Now we need to figure out what else to see in South Dakota. Wish pheasant season was open.

When and why did Independence Day become 4th of July?

There's got to be an interesting backstory to that situation.

Crazy Horse is very close to Rushmore, Deadwood, mammoth dig is close also, open pit gold mine is close. Fly over badlands. Ride the 1880 train

It's the day that Captain Smith, Pocahontas and the Puritans all set sail together from the mother country.
South Dakota is great.

I have no idea what that means, but ok.

Sweet Jesus! You and I have something in common! Midland and the same venue, DAMN!

They are the best to come along in a looooonnnnnnggggg time! Mark, truly is a genuinely nice guy, and the introduction to the tequila was a winner too! Jess and Cam, are sweethearts.

I felt and heard the joy and contentment of true Country Music the first time I attended one of their events, and I am a fan of not only their music, but also their spirit, steeped in their conviction and love and tribute to the heart and soul of true Country Music and the feeling that it carries through those who recognize it, and the Band, for who they are, and what they bring to this world, and the world of Country Music.

I know, I know, the yakking and comments are gonna hit the board, but others do listen to good music and go to concerts and travel as much as you do, maybe more. And who knows, maybe even "Miss Lynn" dances better than Hanco can. After all dancing to country music starts early on in childhood, and lives on in your heart and your feet, and soul forever.

Congrats Dude! You got some class after all, even if you do refer to sex with your wife as BOOM BOOM, which by the way is a degrading thing to say about her anywhere and especially on the net, makes her sound an "easy lay" and that is not something a good man would say about his wife/girlfriend.

Miss Lynn grin

Hanco: Layin a bit low ourselves. I will be doing a community wide yard/garage sale fest in a "gun friendly" community on Friday the first. Then Barbecue that afternoon. That night will take in the Topgun II movie as it has returned to our town.
Going to the "big town" fireworks show on July 3rd will do the gunshops and pawnshops in that town that day.
Doing the local fireworks show on the evening of the Fourth. Crops are being mowed and may just do an afternoons worth of Varminting on the Fourth.
Then on the fifth we will be traveling to a distant town for their gunshops and doing a wonderful restaurant for a country breakfast in the early morning. Then will pick up a 12 pack of the local wonderful deli pressure cooked chicken on the way out of town. The we'll do the "Wildflower Tour" down the spine of the Gravelly Range via the Gravelly Range Road. And do a high country picnic while up there.
Normally the "forest service" leads this very popular and very remote tour (4 wheel drive required!), once every year, but "the wuhan red death" stopped it for the two previous years and this year they are just tofuckin lazy to lead the tour.
If you are ever in the area of the Gravelly range of the Rocky Mountains the first part of July be sure to get up in the high country and take in this splendid and gigantic nature display of wildflowers.
Watch for Grizz!
Happy Independence Day everyone (Americas 246th Birthday!) and be careful and travel safe.

True, I’m sure that thing was mined out in the 60’s.
Burleyboy: Be sure and stop at "Devils Tower" on your way to South Dakota. And go out of your way to cross the beautiful Bighorn Mountain Range as you are heading east!
I always stay overnight in the area of the Bighorns and travel through them in the very early morning - its outstanding then at sunrise and lots of big and small game to be seen.
Drive safe.

I think the family is going to visit in-laws so I may be home alone.

Lotta work around the farm, bush-hogging mainly. May start running some high tensile between lower barbwire strands on a 16 acre lot so I can turn goats on it this fall.

Will probably spend a little time shooting every day.

May have time to slip off and see if any coyotes will come to a call.

It wasn't this July 4th weekend, but this is how more than a few CDNs (myself included) celebrated the day a few yrs ago.

That's with April Wine, Journey and Atlanta Rhythm Section as the back up. I lost my buddy in the 1st half hour and spent the day in the stands by myself.

Wouldn't play an encore.
Hadn't thought about April Wine in many years.
Headed to Laramie WY for the WY State trap shoot.
Party like a rock star.
We'll head into town with the pups for the parade on Saturday then grab lunch somewhere. I think I'll start marinating some flank steak tomorrow for fajitas for dinner Saturday. Grill with onions, jalapeños and poblanos, charro beans, pico de gallo and flour tortillas.
July 4th List-

switch dogfood

carry water. (need a new cause)

friction test all socks, put together a sock wear management plan, complete with use charts, in color *note shoe options with regard to wear patterns

straighten all wire in shop, except those inside the tires.

polish garage door tracks. *Lighten application of lubricant

feed ant lions in shrub beds a, b, d, g, m, and p, plus the driveway edges. *Ants in mound 4a seem to be the heaviest, use those

Check all expiration dates and ignore findings

I'm beside myself anticipating this holiday. I can't remember a more exciting time.
A couple of rounds of sporting clays?

Dog needs some training.

Probably cook a bunch of food?

Heard the in laws might be here for a night or two. That's great, they are great people.
Work, when all is said and done I can tell you why I missed an 11 day vacation and I’ve been working 10-12 hours the last 6 weeks.

All I can say for now is that I’m stuffed and my wallet is stuffed.
Fish. Work. Fish. Work fishing.
Want to take my daughter to a Hoedown. Haven't found one yet and if I can't, which is a strong possibility, I will BBQ or grill burger & dogs.
Get the mini excavator to my dad's place and rip out stumps and work on his ditch, tear apart the wheel chair ramp at our house that we built for her and don't need it anymore. Brake job on my car and oil change on the truck.
Hook up the brush hog to the tractor to clean up the road at the property. Work on the platform for a deer blind that we are gonna raise up.

I should clean out the ditches at the property to get water to flow. I want to drag the road to smooth it but not sure I'm gonna get to it. I'm sure we will be splitting firewood also.

Then back to work on Wednesday to relax.
Go see the mammoth dig in hot Springs

Carolina coast of Independence Day. No place better to be on that day, IMHO.
