That’s a tough one. It’s probably one of the few times in TV history where a replacement was about as good or arguably better than the original.

I’ll go Mr and Mrs Roper over Mr Furley but both were great.

Furley was a total douche. Actually, Knotts overplayed the part to the point of ridiculous. Norman Fell was much more believable as Roper.

Don Knots was better as a one man act than what Mr. Roper would have been as a one man act. I liked the back and fourth dialogue between Mr. and Mrs. Roper. Overall as a couple I think the Ropers were better than Mr. Furley.
