I had thought about an F250 with the 7.3 V8. No way I'm spending that amount on one. Will keep my Tundra and if I need to at some point, put another engine in it. Both new and used prices are ridiculous. The "Send Me the Vin" guy keeps saying on the radio ads that "prices are dropping". Yeah. Right.
There's an 18 Ram with the 3l eco diesel and 30k miles here locally for 43k - has a level kit, rims and a little push bar. Good looking truck. Same dealer has a 22 Tacoma TRD Off Road with 4k miles on it for 46! Stick shift. I don't get that one.
My brother ordered one out 3 months ago 58k F-150 4 Dr sport model 5.5' box 4wd 3.5 eco boost.electric fugging everything ,7kw generator, dark metallic gray. He said color choice on the order was black, white, and dark gray that's it. Said It had some speed sensors in it that slow the truck down automatically when the speed limit signs change lots of other ai sh*t like that. Seems they quit making pickups awhile back now just yuppy fug mobiles. No deal either full fugging retail...mb
I have been out to buy a new truck 3 times over the last 10 years. I get sticker shock every time and walk away looking at my better looking old truck. Up to this point, I've held on to my '06 LT3 Crew Cab Duramax with 155K. Bought new in '06 for $42K. I want a new truck but absolutely refuse to give that kind of money for a _truck_.
The only reason they cost that much is because idiots are willing to pay that much. If everybody just sat tight for a while and the dealers get scared they are going to get stuck with them you'll see the price drop.

The dealers?
Dealer supply is hovering around 30 days, the lowest it's been in your lifetime.
Dealers can't sell 'em all for a loss and make it up in volume. Manufacturers set incentives, and rebates.
Glad I bought a new truck in 18, has 24,000 miles on it now. It I don’t wreck it or have it stolen, should take me out! Mine came with lifetime warranty.
Four years ago, I bought an 06 F150 4 door 4x4 at a repo auction for $2700. Last month, I finally had to work on it. $90 lower pair of tie rod ends and it’s good as new!
I think that's cheap. No air, crank windows, AM radio?
it's probably fairly nicely equipped. My 22 F250 7.3 4x4 was $60k. Its got as much as you can get in the XLT line. But... I checked the dealer where I bought it 6 months ago and they had ZERO inventory in stock pf F250s. What are you guys going to do with all the money you saved when you get to where you are using Depends?
I say Wabi should go for it. Beat on them a little, see where it goes. Life is short, treat yourself. Maybe eat dessert before dinner too once in a while.
Got to wonder what percentage of the current high price of vehicles (as well as pretty much everything else) is the result of our dollars being worth less, therefore requires more dollars to equal what things normally would be priced at ?
that depends way way much on options. I am getting a base lariat, 3% below invoice price for $52k. if you get a platinum, raptor, or something it could be as much as 20k more. the asking price locally for a truck like I ordered is in the low 70's if you look in our classifieds.
And as soon as you get it. It is a used truck and probably lose at least 5 k off it as soon as you buy it.
Better buying something used.
The old rules no longer apply. There are guys buying new trucks and selling them 6 months to a year later for more than they paid.
It's a crazy market right now. Under the old rules I have been able to drive one until it was 10 years old and get 1/2 of my money back. That and adding a little to the down payment along ith cheap interest and short term loans kept payments cheap with very little accrued interest. And never have a major repair bill.
My long term plan was to trade my 2014 for a new 2024 in a couple of years. But I'm going to have to wait and see what happens. I may drive it a little longer. The good news is that even though a new one costs more, my old one is worth more than ever too.
If it's just a base model regular cab 2 wheel drive... Too much.
Super Crew 4x4 XLT, probably a green light!
And what engine would you recommend.
3.5L HO EcoBoost.
Our 2018 has that engine, and it's great.
I never drive it much, as I have my F350, but when I went to northern Kansas a few weeks ago, I took the F150 instead. 1600 miles round trip. I was impressed.
Didn't get but 18.5 mpg, but the whole trip was driving 80mph...

A friend sold his Tacoma last week, it was 11 months old, don't know the mileage but it was maybe due for the first oil change, he got a thou more for it than he paid but took a bath on sales tax of course (tax was 3,400 I think). If the Dems continue on this course to drive the economy into ruins, one would think some guys will be dumping debt and payments here in another year or so. When people stop spending on fripperies and foofaraw, layoffs are right behind. Housing is already down.
The Ford dealer here in Podunk Georgia has a line of pick ups at the road. Nota new one on the lot and these are all priced like new ones. We are in the need of a new vehicle since the wife's Honda mini van has 300K on it and my 2010 F150 has 186K on it and only gets around 15 MPG. Can't find a new Toyota Rav4 anywhere. FJB! more over FJB's voters.
Fords and Chevys are plated with gold. It's just not a good time to buy a truck. The dealer lots are empty . They can't get much of anything from the factory. They don't have to make room for the 2023s. Pay full boat sticker. No deals at all ..tards are paying above sticker commiefornia. Dave
2006 chevy half ton extended cab roughly 97k miles on it lwb ls (cloth interior) was a very nice and clean truck i know for a fact the local dealer that traded for it PUT $7000 in it....... get this guys the put it on their lot for $15000 and sold it within a week CRAZY

I'm also looking at an 18 with 48,712 miles , at $25,854. They likely ran that "fee", at me.
I'd likely go that way. In 2020 I bought a 2019 F 150 XLT 5.0 crew cab with 13,000 miles for $30,500. Not the fanciest but nice enough. No way I'd buy a new one for those prices. Personally I wouldn't buy a new one anyway. Get one, that's a year or two old, even more and save a pile of cash. That's how I paid for it.

How much does that govt mandated crap cost? Airbags, emissions, engines that run on ethanol or biodiesel?
You take the govt regulation crap off, I bet it'd cost $10k less.

Love the 3.5 Ecoboost in my F-150. It’s been bullet proof so far.

I'm hoping to buy a 2022 F250. I'll probably be able to afford it in 2035, if it's still drivable.
So youse guys know Trump is coming back and draining the swamp or are you the type who would have thought the Titanic was too big to sink.
Not picking on you, bro but so many think things are going to keep rolling along even if Trump doesnt come back. If Trump doesnt come back this US experiment as we've known it is history and it, and most of us, are all over but the crying and shouting.
People seem unable to grasp the magnitude of the implications the left and its WEF and Klaus Schwab means when he says we will own nothing and like it (or else).
The satanic NWO is making its move. If Trump and the Patriots and GOD dont defeat them we will be eating our pets as they have done in Venezuela.
People act like a bunch of dumbassed Obama supporters thinking if they just keep believing it will all be ok.
As Klause Schwab and the Bidet say and indicate AFATC our Constitution dont mean schiett.

The idiot government mandated stuff runs about 5k now (that's also the difference in prices for cars from other countries to the US) it used to be 10 but improvements in production have apparently driven that down by half.
Demand is the main price driver now. People who only care about the payment have allowed manufacturers/dealers to charge an insane premium on trucks and full sized SUVs in this country. We're also the only country in the world where 0 interest on a vehicle loan is a thing. Fools are willing to pay a massive premium on the price so they make all their money (and more) without needing to charge interest. The fools think it's a good rate - LMAO - some even brag about it. They shut that ignorant sheet right up when I show them prices in the rest of the world. All the "your money would serve you better in whatever investment or bank you have it in" fools gag a little when they realize they could have started off with an extra 30 grand in those investments/banks.
When supply is there and gas prices stay up, truck prices plummet as we saw in Obama's terms. With the government mandated covid shutdowns we saw the supply dry right up so the demand will probably stay high in this country if I had to guess. Part of the fun of living in a very rich and very poorly educated country I suppose.
THere were several ford dealers offering 2% off invoice pricing on new F250 and F150 orders. You just had to put down a $1,000 and wait for the build. That is how I bought mine and ended up being something like $7,500 off MSRP. It was built in June and so far ford has not managed to get it shipped to Iowa in 5 weeks time. And sounds like it will be another 5 weeks or so. Such are the times.
At 72 years of age, I can still build you a small, but comfortable home, for $56,670!
Lid wanted to buy a 1 ton, diesel, 4×4, extended cab to pull a travel trailer. $75K!
Hell no! That'll buy a blackland farm!
Yep. All 4.5 acres of it down here...
I have an approx. 5 acre place coming up in the market you couldn’t even make a down payment on the place with that! 😉 (only thing I’ve determined Elon Musk is good for. Running up price of local real estate).
I bought my 16' F150 with 40K miles on it for 25K in 2020 (just before Covid1984). Thats with my traded in 04' Titan that wasn't worth the tires it was siting on.
Resale isn't really a consideration for me as I don't trade in every 4 yrs, I use them up.
I looked through my glovebox Monday, took the window sticker out and read over it. 1998 F-150 Lariat, short wheel-base, step-side, 5.4, factory towing package >$26,303.oo. Of course I didn't pay full price but that was pretty expensive for a 2wd truck way back then.
I'll never again step foot in another new car dealership, no way am I paying 50-60-70K for a truck
This town is loaded with top of the line trucks/suv's/cars - >just saying.
Got two older diesel trucks that I just spent $900 in batteries for. Ram recommended some kind of mat batteries and I put top of the line batteries in my F350. Parts are high to keep a old truck going. New trucks are really nice, if you want one buy it.

Buddy of mine ordered a 2022 F350 XLT with the 7.3 gas engine in 12/21. He just got it on Wednsday last week.

Man, you're a bitter fella, ain't ya?
Must be hard going through life when everybody's a "fool" but you, eh?
If you wait longer it will either get better or worse.
I'd bet 90% probability prices continue upward for the next 2 years.
If inventory ever recovers we could see factory rebates again like they had at the end of 2019. That's when we bought a new 2020 crew cab Silverado 4x4 for $34k. Now worth $38k kbb min. Same truck as new is now $54k or more if you can find one.
If prices continue upward like they have since 2019 by 2024 you could be looking at $65k for the same truck. Even if they offer factory rebates again the discount wont get you back to today's prices.
Not sure about basic but can tell you a fully optioned 22’ F350 platinum runs 93,500 msrp and a 7 1/2 month wait. I get a good discount due to work and literally got exactly what I paid for my 2012 f350cc so i bit.
I think I am going to wait for the recession everyone keeps talking about to really get going and see if they are willing to deal.
I will buy a new truck as a retirement gift to myself, but I have at least another 3 years of full time work. If there were deals to be had, I would be seriously shopping now - would love to have a comfortable truck for our 2-3 trips per year, but simply cannot justify MSRP + sales tax + insurance for a truck to sit in the garage while I work all week.
I drove beaters until I was 45 years old. I have never purchased new. I want to do it just once and order exactly what I want.
I'll order an F350 Super Crew Platinum diesel In August when they open up for ordering. I missed the cutoff for a 2022. They were about $85,000 for 2022 and I don't know what to expect for 2023, but probably a pretty healthy price increase. Rick
Just purchased a 2022 Ram 1500 crew cab 4X4 lonestar with a chit load of add ons for $63,000 out the door.Nuts IMHO but this might be my last tuck since I am getting older

The sticker on my 2021 f150 lariat powerboost hybrid with the 7.2 kwatt generator and several options was about $63,000. I paid $55,000 cash after getting invoice price minus $3500 in rebates and farm bureau discounts.
I have a private offer rebate right now for an additional $2500 off another new Ford f150 or super duty but it expires end of this month. I almost ordered another one with it with less features to replace my old hinting truck but the wife shot down that idea because I still have a diesel suburban on order.
I thought about trading in my old '09 one ton dually crew cab 4x4 diesel (70,000 miles) on a new one...but with the new price pushing $100k, I'll pass. The old '09 works just fine and I only need to use it a couple times a year.
I “built” an XL 4x4 F150 Supercrew online not long ago with all the options I’d want (skidplates, gears, big fuel tank, etc). It was a $52k MSRP truck.
