Why are they called “house flies”?

Never see them around the house, but they swarm around the detached garage. Wore out 3 sets of chopsticks since April and am somewhat frustrated.

We have flys in our house, cattle around.

Used a .45 cal Caplock pistol loaded with rice for a spell. It worked but was a little messy.

They're house flies because they travel from a manure pile in the barn to the HOUSE. Enjoy your dinner.
