Summercamp, 1964, Camp McCoy, Hans Fisher, Seargent in charge of personal section drove all over post looking for his brand of cigarettes.

They had the barcode, the first I'd seen.

I wish coke was still cola and a joint was a bad place to be.

1988 I went to a gun show and bought a used, walnut stocked 10/22 for $110. 5 bucks for the scope base and another $7 for a brick of PMC 22LR.

If you worked then..late 50`s, early 60`s...you guys are forgetting what you made an hour. In 65 when I got out of the service, I was hired on as a telephone installer by Bell. Started at $1.95 an hour. Two months later, I got a raise, $1.98 an hour.

Everything was still expensive.
Posted By: Blackheart Re: Old times gone... - 08/03/22
I've got a box of Winchester duck & pheasant loads with a 3.79 price tag and a box of Remington shur shot with a 2.65 price tag. Neither of those are the sad part of old times gone. The sad part is all the good old hunting spots where new houses now sit and all the places you used to be able to hunt that are now plastered with posted signs. People suck and there are way too many of them.

They were. We forget how little we were paid back then. For some reason I can remember the first reloading supplies I bought in 1972 for my first .22-250. A pound of IMR 4064 was $5.86, a pack of CCI LR primers was $.99, and a box of Hornady 55 gain soft points was $3.12, and it hurt to put out that much money when my take home pay was $227 per month.

No shyt. Back when duck and pheasant loads were 3.79 a box I was making 2.25 an hour pitching hay bales.

12344Mag: I remember distinctly debating with myself at a gunshop when Federal 205 M (Match) primers went up to $2.00 per 100 hundred.
The debate was "are they worth the extra 50 cents a hundred over the standard Federal 205's".
I only wish now that I have bought a pallet load of them!
Yeah times and money values are a changin.

Don’t remember the price but I sucked it up buying a rifle scoped and a box of 7.65 Argentine back in late 70’s at a gun shop I walked into down town Manassas on lunch break .
Sure was a looker , dam that thing had some pretty bluing and wood .
After second box , I sent that puppy down the road
3.50 a hour wrecking out overhead , that was the first job I had that we were in buckets .
Thought I’d died and went to heaven 😀
Hurt my little feelings when we had to go back to middleburn WVa .
