Ever changed your vote based on a political ad?

Then who the hell are the targets for the never ending slog of the damn political ads?

November can't come quick enough.
No, and that goes for yard signs, too.
Speaking of ads, the dumbest ads I know of are those that say 'as seen on TV' as if buying a TV ad makes the product or candidate better.
No TV here...

I find the programming and commercials to be subversive at a minimum... and poisonous more often.

Local plumbing shop runs FOX on a TV (owner is a sole operator in his late 80s)... I go in there a few times a month (that is my only baseline).
I examine all the ads, carefully go over the records of the candidates, read what they have said, check their records. Then I bite the bullet, and vote for the person I think will screw me the least. I have not always been on target.
No.

Those ads and yard signs are designed for the wishy washy moderates that can't make up their mind on whether to vote for good or evil.

The yard signs serve a purpose though...

They let you know where the idiots and enemy are located. grin
Political and realtor signs make good target holders so they do serve a purpose...

Lee is the Gov of TN because of ads. He was in third place for most of the race...then Dianne Black and whoever the second place guy was started hate ads against each other. Lee kept out of it and even had positive ads. In a matter of weeks he went from last place to Gov. He's done an Okay job, not great, but Okay.

I would guess most political ads are driven by those that make money on them . . .

BIG MONEY
Name recognition. The vast majority of people are true idiots.
No, but I have identified a few stupid bastages by those yard signs.
I only watch TV while I’m in walmart

And they do it well.

Nope.

This is EXACTLY how they work, and they do work.
I'm guessing that the majority of voters are influenced by political advertising. I think most people dont' "dig into" candidates or issues beyond what is fed to them by political advertisements and, unfortunately, what their preferred news guy/gal feeds them.
Just look at how many people whine about seeing "negative ads". If someone comes on the boob tube blowin' sunshine up their ass, by golly, they'll vote for them!

Idiots.
You guys gotta understand. Half of America's voters are waxing their Range Rovers or sucking on a crack pipe as we speak.
That is the half who took the covid shots and boosters. They will be gone soon.

I believe this yard sign
I have. I was going to vote for a guy for senate until I saw his television ad. I thought: he’s an [bleep]! I voted against him. Turns out he won, and I was right…he’s an [bleep]!
Ads mean dick. A candidate's history is all we can really go on, and even then it's likely that they'll be courted and compromised when they reach a certain level.
The targets of political ads are the “undecided” voters. 35 to 40 percent usually vote republican and 35 to 40 percent usually vote for the democrat candidate. The saddest single aspect of our political process is the dismal voter turnout.

I have only put out a political sign on my lawn once in my life. Ron Paul in 2008. Everything that’s happened since then has proven him right. It pissed me off to no end when those smug Republicans laughed and made fun of him in the primaries. The same Republicans that Trump curb stomped later on.

Ads work because the average voter is apathetic at best. Name recognition gets votes, if you never heard of one candidate, and the others name you know, just might have more influence, on the pick! Many and I say many people, vote without knowing anything about their canidate! Between vote manipulation, and stupid uninformed voters, you get FJB and the socialist [bleep]! It's a shame but adds work!
