High today of 60, it's 65 degrees in my house right now. Fall's not really here, IMO, until we get a frost or I smell someone burning leaves.

It was 100 here yesterday, supposed to be about 75 today, and that's a relief. BUT......we need rain badly. I rode the UTV through the woods this morning, and the littler trees are beginning to drop their leaves, and some are dying. Pastures and late hay crop are gone.

Seems the heat is holding on later than usual - freeze date used to be considered October 10th.

High temps still in upper 90's but overnight lows have been mid to low 70's. So cooler temps overnight lately. Forecast showing overnight lows to be mid-60's come Mon and Tues.

Just splitting up my 11th cord of wood today. Nice cool breeze.

Rockinbbar: As I was scouting for Antelope this AM I noticed fresh snow on the higher peaks of the Pioneer Range of the Rocky Mountains!
That, and the Antelope are rutting means that indeed "fall" has come to SW Montana.
It was 40 degrees when I fired up the VarmintMobile this morning - low tomorrow is supposed to be 41 degrees.

It's 52* here right now. Supposed to get down to 39* tonight with a high of 52* tomorrow and a low of 37* tomorrow night. The leaves are coloring up nicely. Yeah it feels like fall.


Just checked the long range forecast. Highs in the low 50's to mid 60's with lows in the 30's and 40's for the next 10 days. Doesn't get much better.

Getting boats and equipment moved up I-55 ahead of what looks to be a hurricane in the Gulf by next week. Battened down the hatches in Saint Bernard Parish and wait to see what happens.

Getting food plots done and completed this weekend ahead of the anticipated rains to come.

Nope, was 97. Yesterday was 85, 58 at 0715. It was beautiful.

Not yet. Few more weeks. Meantime small game, turkeys and upland birds that need hunting. Been a good year for squirrels. Have limited out every time I've been so far. The next couple months are the best of the whole year. Beautiful blazing colors,perfect temps and plenty of hunting to do.

Send some of that weather down south. We’re supposed to have a small cool front on the way but not by much. Maybe it’ll help with what looks to be a hurricane coming.

37F here this morning but I think fall came a week or two back. We had ice in the hoses and on the lawn a few mornings.

The again, it was in the 90's some days.

had 3/4" of rain this week too, but we're still about 3.5" short for the water year. Less than 5" for the calendar year so far.

But, it kinda felt like fall when I went out and fed chickens today.

Well we've been out of the 100s for a couple of weeks now so I guess that fall is here.
It was 68F this morning coolest morning since May.

Oh, do I remember that when we lived below the dam.

We'd usually start with that stuff late Apr to early May.

2001 or so, I think I found records that showed and "average" day in July was 113F.

I don't really miss it, other than being able to grow peppers year round.

Mid May to mid September run pretty hot. But the other eight months make up for it.
This is my favorite time of year.

Not only cool here but overcast yesterday and now, I get so sick of bright blazing sunshine I flip the Sun off with both fingers.
