When I was a teenager and even when I was an adult Me and my buddy's use to hang out in the den drink beer and watch it like we had never seen it before. The wifes use to roll there eyes and shake there heads asking what's wrong with you guys.
I flew on an airliner about 20 years ago, and set next to this Japanese American gal, for a cross country flight.
She and her husband were both engineers, but when it was time to have children, they decided she would quit working, and they bought a video store , where they figured she could still work and make money and being in control of it.. hire employees etc.
She was based out of Metro Seattle.
But two highlights of the conversation...
I asked her what was the most rented movie, if there was one.... She said simply... oh yes, there is one.. The Movie Slapshot, they kept adding copies, and still they couldn't keep enough copies on the shelves... this is 20 plus years after the movie came out.
The other interesting point in the conversation, was I asked if they rented out X Rated movies. She said that they had to keep those in stock in a closed section to keep the doors open. However, when I asked her if the people were usually men, renting them mainly over the weekend and on Friday and Saturday nights, she told me HELL NO....
75% of their business on X rated movies was during the week, rented in the middle of the day.. and the large number of renters were NOT MALES.. it was predominantly females in the 40 to 60 yr old range.. frustrated house wives...
and the real raunchy ones, that was rented predominantly by women in the same age range, NOT the preverbial " Dirty old men"...
INteresting conversation and most of the results or her answers were the exact opposite of what I thought I would hear.
Guys seemed to like Westerns , combat movies etc. Middle aged women were the " sex movie" customers...
I had an Army friend who was from Johnstown and he was familiar with all of the land marks. When I watched the movie like many of you I did enjoy the comedy. It was a statement of the 1970's.
Blazing Saddles and Slap Shot for comedies. Although not strictly movies, The Pacific and Band of Brothers. Newman said that Slapshot was the most fun of any movie he ever made.
Once upon a time in the West How the West was won Every Which Way but loose The Legends of The Fall A River Runs Through it Little Big Man No Country for Old Men Dune The Martian Chronicles The Original Star Wars 1,2,3 Ghost and The Darkness The first two-Godfathers Platoon Just about anything Clint Eastwood

Another vote for Band of Brothers. I've got the whole DVD set.
The Pacific was excellent also, but I've only seen it one time when it was originally aired.
The one movie I've watched the most has to be Hell or High Water. Followed by Wind River. Also have seen Roadhouse so often that I can almost quote it.
Granitestate1: I was immediately mesmerized by Sam Peckinpah's 1969 masterpiece "The Wild Bunch" and was lucky enough to see it opening night. I was back two nights later with several friends I had talked into seeing it with me - and I enjoyed even more the second time. As did my friends. I paid to see this movie on the big screen more than twenty times over the next decade or so as this movie would often be re-ran by big screen theaters knowing that the Wild Bunch-ophiles would turn out in numbers to see it again. Finally when technology caught up I bought the tape and later the C.D. I only watch it once a year anymore - I have it memorized. The Wild Bunch movie was "controversial" at the time due to Sam Peckinpah's wonderfully done and graphic violence scenes. It would be considered "tame" by todays standards in that regard. The Wild Bunch was critically acclaimed nominated for many Academy Awards and other awards of that type. It is still studied today in cinematography college classes. It cost six million dollars to make and immediately the box office doubled that amount - it is unknown how much it has made its producers over the ensuing half century? I love the cast including William Holden, Ben Johnson, Ernest Borgnine, L.Q. Jones, Strother Martin, Warren Oates, Robert Ryan, Bo Hopkins, Dub Taylor and Edmond O'Brien. "I wouldn't have it any other way"! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
Every year since it came out, during thanksgiving time Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Red River. I can only watch Josey Wales until Sondra Locke appears.. horrible actress in that. Shame being so many others gave terrific performances.
A lot of the same, especially Man on Fire... Possibly Denzel's best movie ever...
If I see it on when I'm channel surfing I will watch- The Equalizer Armageddon The Chronicles of Riddick The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly High Plains Drifter The Outlaw Josey Wales Tombstone
If the Grandkids are around and willing to sit through a movie I get a kick out of "How to Train Your Dragon"
My dad used to watch Predator EVERY Saturday morning. I was the first awake after him so I would watch it too. I'd have to say there has to be some kind of record that I earned with that feat 😅.
I'd like to say Jeremiah Johnson but in reality it's probably Sleepless in Seattle or Sound of Music or some chick flick the wife watches all the time.
Other than the three Star Wars movies (and there are only three, as far as I'm concerned), which I have seen FAR more times than anything else (...and maybe more than everything else!), I've seen Josey Wales a bazillion times, along with Big Trouble In Little China. Few other movies have had me wanting to watch them over and over and over, but mostly Westerns like True Grit.

Legends of the Fall Jeremiah Johnson The Wild Bunch
Legends of the Fall is one of my favorites, as well. Have had it on DVD for many years, and have watched it several times. My favorite scene is the final shootout.
We used to have a tradition of watching, “Quigley Down Under” the night before opening day of deer hunting. Went on for years. Don’t know that it improved anyone’s shooting though!
Jeremiah Johnson Ride With the Devil Last of the Mohicans Rob Roy Braveheart The 13th Warrior The Twilight Samurai
Ride With The Devil was one of Ethan Edwards' favorite movies. So much so that he sent me a copy. Then, a year later, he forgot that he had already sent me a copy, and he sent me another copy, LOL. I have two DVDs of it from him sending them to me.
I liked it, but not as much as Ethan did, I guess. Apparently, it was near the top of his list.
PS He also sent me the DVD of Outlaw Jose Wales. He didn't realize I already had a copy, so now I have two.

Jeremiah Johnson Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan The Godfather Blazing Saddles Blade Runner Raiders of the Lost Ark Platoon Full Metal Jacket Ghostbusters 48 Hours Caddyshack The Thing Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Lots of great movies mentioned. Surprised no one has listed It's a Wonderful Life or The Princess Bride. I do like those 2. Not sure what movie I have watched the most though. Once Upon a Time is a strong possibility but my favorite is To Kill a Mockingbird.
One time we were all watching it and I had paused it at the ralphie's mom scene, and we were all hootin and hollorin and the wifes came in to see what was going on. BUSTED oh man they were not happy about that at all I mean they all knew that scene was in the movie but to have it paused there, I ended up sleeping exactly where I watched the movie at the scene of the crime.LOL
Don't like to watch a movie many times, get bored. Don't often watch movies, something about committing to sit and watch for hours. The ones I've seen a bunch are never watched from beginning to end, it's on tv and I watch.
Christmas story is probably #1. Just because it'll be on all day. Joe Dirt is likely #2.
Never saw Slap Shot, didn't even look at the clip until someone mentioned Johnstown. Went back and watched just to see the local footage.
They filming date stood out, a year later and they could have witnessed history. A foot of rain came down in 24 hours. Dams failed(again). Johnstown flooded badly, and fatally, again.
We lived 30 miles away, overnight the crick got to our house and gave us 4 feet of water and mud in the basement. Mom was overwhelmed, I was an 8 year old sent to Pap's to get rid of me for the cleanup.
Guess Mom was so upset, Dad decided she needed a wakeup call. Once the basement was cleaned, (several days work) Mom got loaded into the car and taken to tour Johnstown. I'll never forget their description of the carnage when they stopped at Pap's to pick me up.
It would be hard for me to narrow down. Kinda depends are we talking ever or just as an adult. But here are some on the top of my list in no particular order....
Traci Lords only made 1 legal adult film, she was underage in all the rest (and New Wave Hookers isn't it)
The reason I said Josey Wales is because I thought back to the days before cable TV, and what movies did I watch with regularity and I think once a year at least, OJW was on NBC. I don't ever remember the Searchers being on TV with any regularity, but that might just be my age and Tombstone was made well into the cable TV era and rentals
