Real hunters sneak up and kill them with their bare hands. Fist up their ass and jerk their guts out.

With today's hardware

"lopes' at 750 aren't an issue

Shooter of course must know the weapon & load.....

No wind is an asset

Guys I hunt with miss at 35 yards and it's the only time they shoot a gun all year.

Or just buy a 6.5 Creedmoor. From ants to elephants,
5 yds or 5 miles.
Posted By: Geno67 Re: 750 Yard Heart Shot - 09/30/22
.5 moa at 750 yards is 3.75 inches. That's some good shooting.

Yes wind is a game changer open areas can be windy, down range trees/wind breakers calm or the other way around, it gets tricky. I do not think alot of people know how many practice long range shooting mostly to 1000 yards with targets at different distance out to 1000. Some of these guys shoot more in a month than I do in a couple years.
With a chronograph, ballistic apps, range finders and a accurate rifle with good glass and practice a person can get quite good. I have a 6.5 Creedmoor HMR/Vortex Razor super accurate and others but am using a 300 wm for hunting. It's a Ridgeline and looks like it will be a .5" rifle.

Barn wall. I'm sure there was a barn wall out there.

Anyone seen my glasses?

My local range makes you put 3 inside a 3" circle at 100 yards before you can go to the 600 yard range. I asked them why it wasn't 3 in a 1 inch circle for access to the long range and they said most can't do that. πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

Bay County shooting range in NW Florida, you had to put 5 shots on a piece of printer paper, MANY tried and tried but could not qualify for the 300 yard range. whistle
I shot a small smiley-face like I saw in a movie with my 6.5x47L, Range Officer carried it around showing it to the other employees.

Cool pictures I wouldn't want the dogs to mistake me for a hog. They look like pit bulls are they bred for hogs?
Posted By: Geno67 Re: 750 Yard Heart Shot - 09/30/22
The bulldogs are catch dogs. Once the pack bays the pig, they're brought in to hold it down. They can't run for chit so they usually ride a truck, fo weela or sxs. Some bay dogs are also catchy - like the hound or cur on the left and the catahoula on the right you see holding on.

Thanks always fun to learn no hogs here I guess we are lucky, although it looks like fun.

Yeah my special bow I built leaves a vapor trail when the arrow flies downrange.
I've been trying to market the bow and arrow combo but they won't let me, I'm not even allowed to give info. about it.

Not a shot that I'd have taken - even with all the equipment.
At that range, wind fluctuations make it iffy.
The possibility of animal movement is even more of a concern to me.
Not doing it, myself - I'd try to get MUCH closer.

Total bullschidt click bait stunt shooting, there are no wind flags out there...shooter is wishing and hoping wind is consistent across the course...roughly 1 full second time of flight...shooter wishes and hopes buck doesn't take a step after the sear releases. Look at livestock grazing broadside 750 yards away, count to yourself one thousand one, if cow takes a step, congrats, you have either missed or gut shot. I'm glad we have the tech now to do this long range shooting, it's great, no question. I'm all in on it banging steel and paper myself.
I'm not seeing videos of gut shots and cripples, so either it never happens or the screw ups don't make it to you tube. If forty years of NRA competition means anything at all, I'll say that the first cold barrel sighter fired at the 600 yd line on an unfamiliar range has very little chance of being a ten or an X, and in Marksman and Sharpshooter classed shooters, the probability of a 6 or Maggie's Drawers is up around damn near 33%.

Lots of people hunt them successfully with bows.

Usually sitting in a blind at a water hole.

Good tip. One can see the arc of the bullet even more dramatically.

Some of you may know this, but for example @ 750 yards:

7mm 168vld @ 2,900 fps (muzzle) is dropping 4" every 10 yards. 5 mph 90' wind has moved the bullet over 16".

So ya, everything has to be right - ranging, wind estimation, clicks on the scope, steady hold, trigger pull, etc., etc., etc.

But frankly, the reason I posted this, not just because of the great shot, I was even more impressed by the camera work. Kept the target perfectly ranged, focused and centered. Even more impressive was the editing. Just the shot, then two guys walking off saying a few words to each other, focus on the antelope head. No long winded stories, no disrespectful behavior, just the shot then leave. Very classy. Perfectly done in my book.
