I lost my last one about three years ago this November. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think about her. She was stubborn, aggravating, chewed up everything and only had the most expensive problems for the vet to solve. She only shed hair twice a year...6 months at a time. But she was always there and ready to go anywhere with me.
I can't make up my mind I want to go through loosing another one.
That one on the couch with his favorite toy.................... a poopaholic. The other dog's, neighborhood cats, horse, cow, coyote. Take him on a walk, our head has to be on a swivel as he has the fastest snatch and grab in the west.
This is my kids lab. But sheās in college living in the dorms. Little turd hangs out with me all the time. My dog is also a chocolate lab and is a character.
I just recently got over being sick with a minor flu. It wasnāt bad but I stayed basically in bed 3 days to make sure it didnāt get worse. My wirehair never left my side for those 3 days except to quickly eat or use the bathroom outside.
I'd like to employ that guy to work nights hanging out in my garden. I expect he would eat house cats just as fast if not faster than dogs, as well as raccoons. It would be like an all you can eat buffet for him.

Scary powerful and quick. That dog was dead in two seconds. Probably not the smartest idea to challenge that tiger, pretty dumb dog and it paid the price.

My favorite Twilight Zone from the 60s , is the one about the old coon hunter that dies trying to save his dog in a creek. The dog wouldn't let the Devil fool him into going down to Hell.
Have had GWPs for over 35 yrs. Can't imagine bird hunting without them. They are part of the family living indoors with us. IMO a hunting dog living with humans will be better in the field than one kept in a kennel. They pick up on body language and know more words. Besides they are entertaining to have around.
Iāve thought of doing freelance dog put downs for some extra cash.
āFlaveās Pet Care - Ending their pain, so you donāt have to.ā
I did that to Griz- a Lab. He hated the vets, so when it was time, I took him out in the yard to his favorite place, rubbed his eyebrows until he was groaning, and put a .22 into the medulla. He never even twitched....
Over noon hour at work kids and wife absent. Longest afternoon of my life.

I had to get the old man to shoot my walker hound. Tried but couldnāt go it. I dug the hole with my excavator, and the old man [bleep] him with my A-bolt .22WMR. He told me it was the last time, that he didnāt have it in him any more either. Cats? Iāll run off the road into a ditch to run over one.

In retrospect, I'd have hired you.
For some dogs I really do think the vet trip is the most cruel.

I was thinking just keep all my burned up Kingsford out of the Weber.
Bring them back a small bucket of that a week or so later. Put a little placard on it or whatever.
