Had a run in waiting in line behind a blonde with a nice dress at a ATM while "she" was getting some cash in downtown high rise LA

The ones I know are good ol hard working country folk “which is a rarity I know” and they are great people. They hunt hard, fish hard and are truly hardcore outdoorsmen and women. I’ve worked out there with some really good folks. But they get squashed out by the ones that ain’t too good.

I have quite a few relatives in California. They are all from Montana homesteading families that moved on to California for mostly the climate and opportunity! Most of them now are from farming roots----grapes, almonds, etc. They are good people.

I don't know any of the ones that have moved here by the 100's since the 70's etc but if I have met any they didn't stand out!

The trespassers who cut down my fence and ran their jacked up Bro truck across my cabin property to retrieve the elk they poached (they were only out of their unit by about 8 miles and the season was closed) were from Tahoe. The bigger one, when I told him to get the fug off my property had the balls to tell me that I was "Coming at him kinda hard" and bow up on me. Stupid fug. Their entitlement mentality was unreal. My oldest child was with me and that was likely the only thing that saved those idiots.

Wher are you guys hanging out that you never meet someone from California? I meet one just about every day. Most are good people while a few are fuggwits just like everywhere else. I've known some people from California. One, years ago, was the quintessential California surfer-girl and one of the first girls I thought I was in love with. Several Navy buddies from California and they were regular guys. Currently an old Navy friend and an old girlfriend in San Diego and they are good people too.

Believe it or not, there are homegrown azz wholes everywhere and there are immigrants from every state who make where they move to a better place.

Unfortunately for many, it's the idiots that tend go get and hold our attention. Also, many people just need to have someone to look down on or complain about.

I suspect native born Californios are a minority in this state.

I have some first cousins out there. One owns an auto dealership in Orange that my uncle started in the ‘50s and the other is a pretty well known architect. We don’t see them very often nowadays. Over the years in the Navy, I’ve been exposed to lots of guys and a few females from California. For the most part I think they’re a little more conservative that all the fruits and nuts that make the news. 😁

I lived in Kali for 9 years when I was stationed at McClellan AFB in the 1970's. Kali was a wonderful place then. After I retired we moved to Susanville for three years, the wife's parents were there and I wanted to attend the gunsmith school at Lassen College. By 1982 it was getting really crazy there and we moved to Wyoming, been here since . I wont even go back into Kali at all now, not even to drive through.

I have a Friend that is pushing his boss to hire me for $75 an hour with 12 hour days free lodging and food subsistence.
The drive would be about 2 hours from my place in Arizona and 5 hour from where I am now.

It does not take much thinking to make that move to go back to being an employee for that kind of money and hours and walk away from being self employed working 1 to 2 days a week for $60 an hour

California, geography, is an awesome place. I, personally, give credit to (some) people who stand up and leave. It's also a rich place. Many people cash in and endeavour to convert Fig Leaf, Arkansas into Malibu. That's evolution, I suppose, but evolution, like technology, is moving faster than ever and conflict moves with it.

As farmers, it's hard to think about leaving. In our area, we have plenty of water, senior water rights to a large reservoir, the best growing weather and the most fertile ground anywhere in the States.

Sierra Nevadas an hour away.
Beautiful beaches, an hour and change away.

We deal with alot of cooks and demented politics.
But I'm not a quitter. And I haven't found anything geographicly close to what we have. Except Chile.

Just left KA after over 25 years. I'm an AZ boy, only leaving to go into the Army and travel the world. When that was done, a custody battle and limited options had me in KA. Then later, aging parents, duty to family, and meeting the W kept me there.

Then 6 months ago. The opportunity to return came up. I jumped at it. So much so that I left a 27 year old job to leave.

Back in AZ.

Yes, there are good people all over KA. But they are far outnumbered by the libtards. The last 5 years in KA were brutal. Lived in a very nice place (water front property in Marina del Rey), but the heathens were but blocks away, and creeping ever closer by the day. Saw the amazing deterioration over the last 5 plus years, and it was shocking. While SoKal was never my thing, the drastic downturn the last 5 years or so could not be ignored. People eating at outdoor sidewalk tables while homeless are dropping trou and chitting in the gutter next to them. Seen it several times in Venice / Santa Monica. THAT did not happen 5 or more years ago.

My first impressions after being back in my home state the last few months, is that there are far fewer self absorbed and entitled people here. Even in the valley here (Goodyear area), it shocks me how many people go out of their way to hold open doors for you, give you a break and "let you in" in traffic, etc. Race seems much less an issue here. So far. People just seem to get along.

I met one today at the feed store. I was picking up my feed order and she was backed up to the dock literally smoking a cigarette and lighting the next one with the last one. I excused myself and walked over and asked her where she was from, she replied Sacramento, and I asked if she tossed her cigarette butts on the ground in that liberal chithole, she looked offended and replied no. I told her she had until I reached my truck to get out and pick those up or I was calling the sheriff. She balked at first until I told her the fine was $500 and repeat offenders could face 6 months in jail and a $2k fine, and the sheriff might treat each butt as a repeat offense.

Her fat pink and blue haired ass got out and picked each on up and put them in the trash can on the dock.

California has some fantastic country and resources. And the state has done some things right in recovering damaged environment and improving it over what it had become by the sixties. I would not be opposed to applying some of their environmental regulations here - the ones that worked and aren't over the line. But those fleeing the place and coming here aren't helping anybody but themselves. Can't blame 'em, but I don't have to respect that.

Speaking of Californians, I left California for good in 1968. Only times I ever went back was for birthdays and holidays with family IF I could get off work. Many times I could not. Now, there is only one person left that can be called kin. A half sister that hates me about as much as I cannot stand her. We're in the middle of a heat wave up here which is extending the fruit and grape harvest for sure, but makes hunting a little sporty in terms of getting anything that dies off the dusty, hot mountains in a big hurry before it spoils.

In the halcyon days before the beer flu and Crown Prince Sock's Evil Minions totaled our tourism industry, we used to get lots of California plates up here, especially in winter as we've got fairly famous "champagne powder" here in the Okanagan. That and our Canadian Loonie worth next to not much meant it was feasible.

Oh, I've got a niece through marriage who is from near your part of the world - Folsom I want to say - and she's a fantastic addition to the family in all ways.

We in BC are often tarred with the same West Coast brush that the US West Coast seems to be. Some of it's warranted I suppose, but like California or anywhere I'd guess, BC is a comparatively large land mass and folks who live in say downtown Victoria or Vancouver proper may have no idea places like Grasmere or Chetwynd exist even though they're in BC.

Many of us from the rural areas know about the bigger cities because that's where the bigger airport is, as well as a bunch of bigger universities.

That said Higginez, folks being folks, can pretty much be malignant rectal orifices wherever they're born if they have a real mind to. We've got a couple here that were born and raised, though two of them are "no longer with us" as the euphemism goes, so it gives us all a reminder that all of us are just passing through, wherever it is we're at today.

My dad was born in Bakersfield in 1933, but raised in Arkansas and California, as my grandparents were sharecroppers. Have another friend that was also born in Bakersfield. A field I work with is from San Diego and moved back there last year. My buddy that just moved from AK to AZ was born and raised in Cali. He claims he made the San Diego Padres farm club but was in Army, I call BS on that story though. Being prior military, I served with lots of people from Cali and still have family on my mothers side in the LA area.

I've met and know a ton of folks from CA. They're a mix just like anywhere. Once you get outside of the major metro areas, the good people far outnumber the whackos. It's really sad that the whackos are in charge and have been since Reagan. Come to think of it, that was about the time they instituted mail in voting and never again had conservatives or moderates in charge. Mmmmmm.

CA is far and away the best state in the nation. Close access to every different type of activity (outdoor and otherwise), close access to every different type of ecosystem. Within a couple hours one can be in a desert, on top of mountains (real ones), out to sea, up a river, down a river, at a world class bass fishing lake, etc., etc.

I would not choose to live there just because of what's happened in the last few decades with the people who make the decisions.

If Mrs. Geno gets some kind of insane offer from one of their tier one research unis, I'll follow her there and support her of course but that's the only way I could see myself being a CA resident. I keep my fingers crossed that one of the FL ones make her that offer, but they're hard to come by. More likely, we'll be on the east coast or a flyover state for a couple years and then back to FL or TX somewhere near the coast.

Frankly Jim in whatever cosmic cocoon he'd existed in previously, he'd either not encountered or possibly listened to folks from my side of the spectrum.

There absolutely were moments when the irony was pretty heavy Jim, for instance when the nice lady with all the Green Peace and "Ban Leghold Traps" bumper stickers parked beside the local trapper's truck.

It's a struggle for sure for some of us, that's the honest truth.

I do remember in the late 70's, early 80's California was apparently a wonder land. Everyone was making excuses to uproot and go there.

Have seen people that same attitude move here and they're usually moved out and gone within a couple years because they just don't fit in and nobody likes them. There's a few that make it adjust and are good people but with the attitude shown it's quite easy to tell the difference..

When our neighbor’s house was for sale and we heard that it was bought by a retired couple straight outta Cali we were thinking “there goes the neighborhood”.
