They seem like a mighty fine rifle, but they are expensive.

Owners speak very highly of them. Some of the reviews I read the owners were so impressed they now own several. Not easy to obtain. Current waiting time seems to be 15-18 months. I ordered one with upgraded wood about 4 months ago so am about 1 year away from ownership.

Evnin, 2 big horns at Epps Canada Ontario in 460! 3 at prophet river arms Alberta! Pretty sure Epps can export. Don't know about P.R.??? All in 460 though. That rifle looks like it's based on a Winchester 86 receiver.

I wonder how the .500/.460 S&W compares to a Marlin 1895 in .45-70.

A JM Marlin 1895 is a whole helluva lot cheaper than the Big Horn.

I like the looks of the Big Horn and would like one in .500 S&W (probably somewhat more fun to shoot than my S&W .500, but I already have a JM Guide Gun that has stood me in good stead for about 25 years and I’m in cutting back mode now…inclined to stick with what works.

I rebarrelled a Rossi 92 in .460 S/W. The OEM barrel was .454C, but I was concerned about chamber support. The rebarrel is 2x on chamber support by my design. I also 5/8-24 TPI for my .45 Colt heavy subs (VERY VERY QUIET).

It will NOT cycle .460S/W, but it will "First Round" them... then wimpy old .454Cs if the .460 didn't get the job done out the gate.

Regarding the 1895... I also have one of those (threaded also). A FANTASTIC GUN. 1:16 IIRC so keep the subs under 550 grain IMHO. 405s fly very well.

This was done when he still supported the NRA, but he dropped them after they came out in favor of various bad laws in recent years.

.460 S/W is a better choice than .500 S/W... IMHO.

But, keep a fire extinguisher handy.

Been looking at them for years but never felt like trying to explain dropping that kind of money on a firearm when I already have a pretty extensive collection. But the wife walked out the door on 8/30 of this year and after calculating cost of her health/vision/dental insurance coverage that I provided, vehicle payment, vehicle insurance, and then cost of living for her and her 2 children I am getting about a $2500/month pay raise. I decided a couple of weeks ago I was going to pull the trigger on one. Fortunately, this won't be the longest I ever waited. I waited about 22 months for my springfield professional 1911 back in 2013 or 2014.

Ive had an upgraded wood 89 on order for about 8 months now. I'm excited for when I actually get it. Should be a great bear/hog gun. Also looks very fun on 2 liters and watermelons in all the videos I've seen! Thinking I may see if I can switch to 460 and thread the barrel though so I can use my can on it.

Guns International has 14 listed. Range from 27hundred and change to 5grand and change. Most are 500 but a few 460

.45 Colt heavy subs is one of the best kept secrets in the gun world... IMHO.

460 S/W, .454C (for the women/children)... and 45 Colt subs. FANTASTIC STUFF!
