I have some...they are starting to stack up...just got one called the St Benedict's. It looks cool.
Do you have a favorite?
I'll edit it this post with a pic after dinner, nap, dog walk etc...
Plane Jane with the hole - special for pipes.
Got one of the old conventional Zippos with a John Deere logo on it. Asked my favorite aunt for a light one time and she handed me hers and I thought it was way cool, so she gave me one as a birthday or Christmas gift about 30 years ago. Still have it.
The one with a flag engraved and the one I use as a guitar slide .
I used to collect them. Sold most of them.
My personal favorite is probably the one I got in Airborne school.
It has a skull with red beret with airborne wings and says FT. Benning, GA.
I never carried it so it’s in pristine condition.
My other two favorites would be one that my wife gave me for Christmas in 92. The other was one given to me by my best friend for my 18th birthday.
Still married to the same woman, and me and that guy are still best friends.
All three are in the gun safe.
1962 vintage. Given me by my maternal grandfather a few years after he taught me how to smoke a pipe:
Just pulled it out of me pocket. I had lost it years and years ago, but I found it in the yard after the 10/19 tornader here in Big D.
I like the Dee-Doo-Da model!
I found one, while re-building a fence corner - it was engraved "Ernesto M".
Brought it home and showed it to my office lady (she was raised in that country), and asked "Do you have any idea who Ernesto M was?"
"Yes, my brother, he used to help Elmer (my FIL) with lambing sheep and fixing fence".
I gave it to Juanita Martinez on the spot.
I collect them - that's a Zippo in my avatar. I used to pay a few dollars for one, some of those are now worth north of $1,000.
The one I left on a pizza joint table in Lawton, OK back in 1973.
2/37th F.A. if anyone happens to find it.....
The camo one got just about wore out. I no longer smoke,
but I have several.
They gave these out to the crew in 1966. Plankowner SSBN 656 Blue crew. Been a few years.
The one I carried with me in Vietnam 53 years ago.
Zippo? I always thought Harpo was funny!
They gave these out to the crew in 1965. Plankowner SSBN 656 Blue crew. Been a few years.
Now those are cool!
Probably the neatest Zippo I had was from Vietnam. I had gotten it from my uncle years ago and Lord only knows where he got it.
On the lid it had “Vietnam 69-70”.
Underneath on the body was the name PFC Jimmy Pillow.
Underneath that was a picture of Snoopy in his World War One aviators helmet and underneath him was the words “F@#% this stupid war.”
It was in good shape.
I wanted to find the original owner or next of kin and return it but had no luck and instead sold it to a friend.
He began the search himself and ended up finding a Jimmy Pillow either in Texas or Oklahoma who looked to be old enough to have served in Vietnam.
My buddy tried to contact him but the guy never returned his calls. My friend even called an American Legion that was close to this guys home but they said they didn’t know him either.
We were pretty disappointed as we were hoping to return it.
I have a few, all from my Navy time. Favorite is from Antarticia, the others from my ships. USS Flint from Vietnam time, and a brass Zippo from The USS Savanaha. Don't use them much now, however.
I have these 2. The slim is a 1971 and the other is 2003.
Have one my wife gave me when we were dating over 40 years ago piece of crap fell apart the next month
I have some good ones. Zippos are made from brass, and most are chrome plated. During WWII brass wasn't available so Zippo used steel and painted them with a "black crackle" finish. All production was donated to the war effort. I have a number of those, including one NIB - never lit.
Zippo lighters have a date code on the bottom. The dots and dashes are on both sides of the logo.
Wish I could find my Obama Zippo.
LOL
Have two of the 24 Hour Campfire group buy Zippos from a couple years ago, only ones I own.

Rick should make that a thing.

Yes, it would.
JOG that chart is handy - thanks for posting it. I'll put it on my phone like a teenager as I deBoomer myself.
DD impressive lighter, and awards.

It probably was a knock off. Zippos are unconditionally guaranteed forever.
Eius in obitu nostro praesentia muniamur! (May we be strengthened by his presence in the hour of our death!)
The only one I’ve got left is the 24 Hour Campfire commemorative I bought here.
Quit smoking 6 years ago.
I received one as a gift from the NCOs when I turned over my 1st Infantry Company command. I think that they appreciated that while I didn't smoke, I always brought a carton of Kools and a carton of Marlboros whenever we went to the field, since back then the majority of NCOs ran on caffeine and nicotine and I didn't want any of them to run out of fuel when we were shooting, moving, and communicating.
GWB: You need a custom 1911 in those photos. WTF?
Really cool thread! Slow hand salute to all you "zippo raid", MF's!
I picked up a Chinese zippo in a hodja shop at FOB Ghazni. It looks just like an American made one. Even the print on the box and the instructions looks American.
kwg
Nothing fancy for me. I just have a couple plain Janes. I've never smoked and the only use I have for them is for campfires. For that purpose, I never leave home without one. I'll trust a Zippo any day over a Bic.
Leaky Waders: I found a Zippo lighter a few years back when out Hunting - wouldn't you know it - it was a pittsburgh stealers commemorative!
I opened it and wedged it against a large rock and stomped it into oblivion.
I do own a nifty Zippo stainless folding knife.
I do see a lot of interest in Zippo stuff at collector shows.
Hold into the wind
VarmintGuy
P.S.: Are they still made in the U.S.A.?
I’ve used a Zippo money clip for the last 40+ years
I did a web search for Vintage Zippo Lighters, and I got 10,000 matches.
I have the 1994 50th Anniversary D-Day Invasion model, still in the original presentation can. Never has appreciated in value...

My Bad,
will have to correct that........
