Never did it in the past, didn't believe in it.
Best man for the job!

Often laughed as I reviewed the ballot, one box was all I needed.
Only voted R on the whole thing.

Couple years back, decided to vote straight R. Send a message.
Except that wasn't an option anymore, and hasn't been since.

Does it appear on anyone's ballot?

I used the straight Republican ticket option at my voting precinct.......the ballot had about 3 or 4 county/city council spots for election where all the candidates were dems..........I left all those blank.

This county and city are screwed in that respect, can fix it if Republicans dont want to run.........however our mayor is a white Republican. That was a memorable political feat.......

I voted a straight GOP ticket, and apparently so did a lot of other voters, as all the GOP candidates won in my county.
I’ve never voted for a democrat for any position at any level in my entire life. 32 years voting, this year.
Posted By: KFWA Re: Voting straight ticket. - 11/10/22
I remember when we had lever voting machines in Kentucky you could pull the lever for straight party ticket

but now with this fill in the circle stuff in Ohio, you have to fill in each one.

Exactly, your either with me or against US. Been that way since 1980 and have no plans on changing till after I'm gone.

Maybe 40 years ago you could get away with that on the state and or local level. But the reality is that even if a democrat tries to sound decent ( does not happen much anymore) if they get a house or senate seat they are gonna vote with Pelosi or Schumer all the time. So, a vote for a democrat congressman is a vote for Pelosi, a Senator, is a vote for Schumer.
Posted By: Mike_S Re: Voting straight ticket. - 11/10/22
We used to have the party lever in the voting machines. When they were replaced with paper ballots it wasn’t an option anymore. Easier to hide questions on the paper ballot as well.

Which democrats or independents did you vote for previously?

Dems did here in PA what they always do in a lot of places. Doesn't matter if a dead skunk was on the ballot, if it has a "D" they vote for it.

No Democrat is worth a sheit, even at the damn dog catcher level! As bad as Oz and some other R's are, they don't hold a candle to the destructive Dems!
Posted By: cra1948 Re: Voting straight ticket. - 11/10/22
It was an option here and, of course, I took it. What the “best man for the job” philosophy fails to take into consideration is that whenever you elect a Dem, even for town dog catcher, it strengthens the dem party overall…more strength locally means more votes nationally. Ironically, the democrat running for our distict’s seat in the state house was running unopposed….it’s the demographic if you get my drift. I wrote in one of my buddies for the job just as a protest. Of course, statewide the Republicans swept South Carolina.

Never voted for a democrat.

2010 and 2016 I voted against McCain in the primaries, 2010 I held my nose and voted McCain as we needed the senate against Obama... 2016 I left the choice blank, never would I vote for that MFer again. McCain was never a real Arizonian, he was a carpetbagger... Arizonians couldn't get rid of him because of all the transient trash from the midwest and west coast that move in Az constantly.

Depends on where you are at. Local Dems were OK until about 1980.
Posted By: funshooter Re: Voting straight ticket. - 11/10/22
I was a Registered Republican until they started attacking President trump.
I changed to Independent.

I have always voted Republican because I have always felt that they were lesser of the two evils Until
President Trump
I voted for him because I truly thought that he stood for our Country's best interests.

I have NEVER Voted for a Dumbocrat
I did vote for Perot when he ran.
At that time I thought he was the lesser of the two evils and it did not pan out very well.

Don't recall any.
Dems never gave me an option in any big offices,
Have usually known or known of the R's for Twp Supervisor or County Commissioners, so vote for them.

Pa elects State Judges, they can't state positions due to possible cases.
So you basically know party, and county. R over D, West over East.
Fudged up system.

You will love this Travis.

I used to be a Democrat.

18, totally ignorant of politics.
So ignorant that I registered Democrat when a family friend, who was a Twp Supervisor and County Comitteeman told me to register, that he had me a summer job with the Turnpike.

Mac was a Republican! As was our family!
Mom set me straight and the next day it got changed.

Never took that job either. The logger I was working for matched the pay
and logging appealed more than the other job.

The task of voting would be made so much less onerous if provision was made for one-time, life-time voting.

Ideologically, I'd guess that the last democratic presidential candidate that didn't totally suck was JFK. He was before my time so I could be wrong. I know he cut taxes and fought organized crime. Today's dems raise taxes and are organized crime.

I think it was 39,890 B.C.. Big, hairy guy named Skrugg. Carried two clubs and a fish spear. Every democrat since then has been a piece of shiit.
The VERY first time I voted was in 1992. I helped elect "Slick" Willie the first time. Blame my union raising! 😖

"A working man voting for a (R) is like a chicken voting for Col. Sanders!"

"Give a poor man a hundred dollar bill and the first things he wants to do is join the country club and vote a (R) ticket!"

I was still pretty staunchly (D) until the "House" checking account debacle was uncovered. (D) Reps were writing checks with no money in their account and the "House" (taxpayer?) picked up the tab! Yeppers, they uncovered a couple of (R)'s doing the same. Over half of the (d) Reps were guilty!

I've voted a straight (R) ticket ever since.
In OK, you can still vote a "straight" ticket.
Down ballot is still a "Y/N" type affair for judges, etc. None of those candidates show party on the ballot.
Do any of you remember when the (D) led house decided to vote themselves a raise?
Do you remember when they got called out on it, the only way to vote it down was to vote "Yes!"?

We don't have a straight party option here.

I voted for a Democrat once in my life. It was in the 1972 primary, when Walter Baring was running against James Bilbray, a liberal Dem. Baring was a far better alternative and had a tough primary fight, so I registered Dem to vote for him. He lost, and liberal Bilbray won, then won the general. I voted for the Rep candidate in the general, a friend of our family.

The OP?

Was opposed to the idea, always finished and realized I only voted R.
Could have saved time with one box.

Last several elections, wanted to send a signal. Couldnt.

I have been a Republican all my voting life. I will remain a Republican voter until I die and then unfortunately I fear I will become a Democrat.

I've done it my entire adult life but never seen it come to fruition.
We have that option here but i never have punched that one.

I always read thru the whole ballot just to make sure nothing is hinky.

For the first time ever, our county here in KY and our neighboring county had a Republican sweep. We had been a Democrat county since probably the 1920s. Now there are more registered Republicans. There were a couple long time incumbent Democrats, that were actually well liked, sent packing. It was obvious by the tallies that people were just fed up and pulled a straight Republican ticket. The wins were by huge margins.
Posted By: VarmintGuy Re: Voting straight ticket. - 11/11/22
dillonbuck: I have NOT voted for a demonrat in over 54 years now.
The LAST demonrat I voted for was the amazingly anti-communist, very conservative, fiscally responsible United States Senator from washington (now known as "taxington"!) state, Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson.
He was more conservative than 89% of todays current crop of Republican Senators!

When you read threads here do they have to be bolded for you to see them or understand?

If not then why do you have to bold every post you make? Your words are no more important then anyone else's. I just don't get it, help me understand.

Very short sighted of you... please stay in Penn.
