I am grateful for what you did for me and mine

It is free food day for veterans. I have mapped out my day off. I should be able to gain about 7 pounds by visiting 11 restaurants over the course of the day. Golden Corral buffet will be my night cap/anchor meal. Krispy Kreme gets the not for the lead-off position, even though one of my peeves is purposeful misspellings in business names.

A special thank you to all the patriots that are dealing with the woke military crap, it can't be easy.

The federal government closes banks, schools, and the Post Office to honor Martin Luther King, but not for veterans. That's all you need to know about how the government values veterans.

I'd rather stay upbeat, but remember The Bonus Marchers in 1932?

Schools, including Universities (I think) are open on Veteran’s Day but post offices and banks are closed for the most part. Pretty much all of the Executive Branch of the government is closed today. There’s a reason I am sitting here drinking coffee and waiting for my omelette before going to check traps, rather than being at work.

Post offices are closed on Veteran's day. My federal credit unions are as well. Hooters, on the other hand, is open!

It was an honor and privilege to have served in the US Coast Guard. Served a whole career, did my time, and retired..

Yes, we have a 6 ft height requirement, so that when the boat sinks, we can just walk to shore.
Yes, we only have 500 yards of mooring line attached to the fantail of the USCG Cutter, so keep us from going out too far.

This old vet appreciates all the kind words. 50 years after doing my thing in Southeast Asia, I've come to believe we could have done our nation more good by staying home and shooting a few politicians. Some things never change!
